  1. my benelli has a 18.5" with the factory rifle sights, they put the remington reduced recoil slugs, poa at 50 yds, low 6" at 75 yds, and 12" low at 100. at 25 its a little high but close enough to call it poa. trapr
  2. i will be there along with some louisiana shooters, i don't know if the dog (scout)will make it. i'll be shooting , LTD. trapr
  3. KURT, bigbrowndog is trying to swing his vacation right now. if not i'll have to be SICK, like i was when i shot tx3gun. haha! if you'll bring some more cider!!! i'll try really hard to be there. get me your personal info, traprstsavoscout@netscape.net
  4. Hopefully its not little birdie season, and that little birdie don't get shot. less cooper tunnels would be fine with me. a few years back a good friend of mine who doesn't get to shoot as much anymore, had a problem with a cooper tunnel at scc, and had to take a penalty for some thing that was later decided by mr. amidon to actually be a range failure. it didn't do him any good later though. my friend is a little on the short side, and he actually shot a stick off the cooper tunnel, from outside the tunnel, but the RO decided that he should get the penalty for knocking the stick off anyway. judging from the stage diagrams, the match looks like it will be very challenging, with or without the cooper thingees. trapr
  5. has anyone seen a shooting schedule, so we can find out what stage we start on? trapr

  7. Let me extend the hand of friendly competition, i personally invite everyone that posted to this subject, to sign up for the STI-American Handgunner match in beautiful montrose colorado, the match is in june. hope to see you there, look me up. I'll be walking a big brown dog, (scout). trapr
  8. Does anyone out there know, where i could get a mag extension for the adco diamond shotgun, i won it in the side match at the steel challenge, last year. it is basically a gas operated benelli(the bolt and internals appear the same), however they chose not to utilize the same thread pattern. i remember an article in the USPSA front sight, a few years back about turkish shotguns, but i must have misplaced the issue, cuz i can't find it. any help would be appreciated, thanks trapr
  9. kurt it was good to see you again, and shoot with you. look forward to seeing you at tx3g. it was my first time to smm3g as well, and operating with an open mind, and understanding that nobody can forsee all the problems that will crop up, i think that dan and his crew did a great job. i too had problems on stages but they were my mental problems (mostly). shooters need to remember that r.o.s are there to assist you! know what you can do, can't do and what you can ask for? it takes about 15 to 60 secs. to shoot a stage but you spend alot more time thinking about it, mental preparation is more important. on stage 3, the final three shooters in my squad, informed the RO that we chose to shoot that stage the next day due to lack of light, it was our choice, not the RO's the shooters who did shoot that stage, later told us that they wished that they hadn't. but that decision was theirs. all in all, scout(big brown dog) made lots of new friends, and got to see some old ones too, and so did i. I'M GOING BACK NEXT YEAR. TRAPR
  10. shred! have you looked at the distances to target? if my memory serves me right those plates are as far away as the last plate(my first) on five to go, which means it should take some doing to shoot this one quick!! granted the outside two plates are 12" but think about how many times you had to double clutch that back plate on five to go, now their all on the back row, i do think the way to shoot this is left to right. time will tell. i think i'll miss flying "M" though, it was a devil getting that foot work down. trapr
  11. Can i get some help on this one from guys with more experience, is it worth going to steel to avoid bending the aluminum one, when you have to clear a malf? I shot a great little prep match for smm3g, this last weekend in corpus christi, tx. and it was a suggestion that was made by another shooter, after we watched some other guy wrestle with his AR to clear a malf. If so where can i find one, and are they drop in, or is some minor fitting required. (benny, sorry i did'nt ask you this after the match, it would have been easier). thanks trapr
  12. someone mentioned #4 buck, for erik. it reminded me of a question i have about smm3g. i was told by a big 3gun competitor here in south texas, who will remain nameless, (hint:big) that they have used #4 buck at this match in the past, my understanding was that #4 birdshot was as big as it gets. also somebody mentioned erik was gonna step in dog doodoo, if so try to avoid the large piles left by the big brown dog. (rhodesian ridgeback) p.s. kurt it will be good to finally get to shoot with you again. trapr
  13. i just pulled my times for this stage off of my notes, and with a limited gun shot it in 11.89, a concur with be that the disaster factor for shooting this any other way but 1,2,3,4,stop, is increased on match day, but then i shoot smoke and hope(1,2,3,4,stop) the same way for the same reasons. trapr
  14. one of the keys to shooting steel that i have found is being relaxed, when you set up to shoot, also for all but a few stages, it helps if you centrally locate your natural point of aim, on the hardest shot, normally the stop plate but not always. this means you set up on that shot, and swivel yourself from the hips for every other shot. target transition can be worked on with a plate rack if you have access to one, they are a great. tool for practice. good luck trapr
