  1. Yes you are Kevin ! BUT the National Action Pistol Championship is an aggregate of the four matches (Match Five). The others are matches in their own right. Why should we have to shoot the matches twice to find a champion? Is it because only a very select few can shoot two perfect scores in a row? Is it because if someone can make a slight mistake on the first aggregate they can play make up on the second? Think about the other two hundred and fifty shooters that didn't make the top thirty two and probably two hundred and forty of them will never make the top sixteen in their life time but donate their entry fee to top up the top thirty two prize pool by not even getting a grab bag. It is advertised as the richest shooting event but that is now history. It might still have a lot of cash and prizes on offer but it has been narrowed down to a few recipients only. The 'World Shooting Champs" at Peacemaker is going the same way with the "Open Professional" class allowing shooters to use their own equipment instead of what is supplied. It kills the original concept of the match and is made up for about half a dozen 'made for TV' shooters. I hope John Bianchi's vision all thous years ago doesn't go the same way. My 2c worth for what it is worth.
  2. Richard knows they are expensive because Richard sells them to them.
  3. If they pay my expenses, I would volunteer to help them.
  4. I hope the shooters that were going touring after the match managed to avoid the earthquake. I know one couple that were heading down that way but would still have been in the North Island when it happened. Just a quick 'thank you' to all the organisers, range staff and officials that made it a very enjoyable event. Also not forgetting the shooters themselves that mucked in and made it a very relaxed event. It is always good to catch up with competitors that you may only see every one or two years but also to find new friends among the shooters and swop new ideas and recycle old ones. There're a few stories to be told from the event and I'm sure they will eventually surface. I had the pleasure of JimmyB's company for the week and he is one dedicated competitor. I last saw him at the BC in 2003 and that was the last time he shot a handgun. He was a very accomplished revolver shooter and decided to put us on his 'bucket list'. Just to make it interesting he arrived the day before our Nationals and was lent an auto in 38spr. Having never shot one in competition before it was going to be a steep learning curve.Shot the match, cleaned the plates. and traveled up to the World Shoot. He finished on 1897 and the top Master grade shooter. Only a wobbly knee session on the mover stopped him being higher (we've all been there). I hope you all got home safe and sound.
  5. 296 is one powder you should not download! There is warnings all over reloading manuals about that. I don't think you will get sub- sonic (mouse fart) loads unless you go to something like H4895 or similar. There is a section in Hodgsons reloading manual on reduced loads and it is well worth a read.
  6. 4.5grns @ 1.14" with a 124grn plated FP gives me 1000 ft/sec. feeds through the 1911 I had and an M@P no problems.
  7. My own. No shortages, shipment issues and if there is a quality problem I know who to blame. And:- The price is right.
  8. The original charter, put together in 1995 by US, Australia and NZ, had the US hosting the match every 8 years. It has not turned out that way and from what has been spoken they are not looking to enforce it in the future. The country is decided by the NRA after bids from those countries are put in. Whoever is putting their hand up for the next WAPC should have their bid in by now. The bid is put in by the club that will host the match and not the countrys' governing body. I would like to see Australia host it again (apart from their screwy gun laws) but not in Sydney. Maybe Perth, Adelaide or Darwin; somewhere a bit different. If it is going to be in the US they better not put KY forward if they want someone to shoot the match.
  9. Just to be different For my dirty 38sc I use a 44 spl sizing die I had sitting in the draw to decap before wet tumbling. Works perfect, cost nil. Don't know where it came from as I have never owned a 44 in my life.
  10. DB Munty. DB.Not Lion. The loser gets all they can drink.
  11. Must have been 'Death Day' for 13937 springs as I renewed mine yesterday after weeks of problems. Had the time to sit and nut out the problem and pull it apart. The old spring was only about 2" long and fell apart in my hand as I pulled it out. It is only 13 yrs old. They just don't make stuff like they used to Works like a new one with the replacement.
  12. I understand the NRA show is the week before most years.
  13. I have been notified that the shirt logo was a mistake by the shirt makers and too late to correct. There goes my conspiracy theory again.
  14. Kyle the BC is the "Midway USA & NRA Bianchi Cup National Championship" to give it its full title as advertised on the NRA web site. It has been the National Championship as long as I have been shooting it. The thing about Ross was remedied by a rule change many years ago and the Cup can be won and has been by any shooter whose country is recognised and affiliated to the NRA. The World NRA Action Pistol Championship is held every two years in countries chosen by the NRA.
  15. The International Individual and Teams Events are for non-US citizen shooters. If the USA team was eligible then Doug should have won the Individual International Award. The wording used to be- members must be non-US Citizens from the same country province or Territory entered by their home country. Also!!! When did the Bianchi Cup go from being the National Action Pistol Championship and become the World Action Pistol Championship as written on all the cup shirts this year. That will do for now. I've just walked in the door from a 15 hr flight home and I will have a sleep before I say something I might really regret. Coatesy ps The real World Action Pistol Champs are in New Zealand November this year.
  16. Hey Butch If you don't want to be recognized as a Senior or Grand Senior; don't tick the box on the entry form! But remember this; the Senior and Grand Senior is the growing division as the population ages and we are still kicking ass in the Overall standings. We still have to post good scores to win. Turning up just doesn't do it Bianchi Senior Champ 2007, 2008, 3rd 2011. Read the sign off.
  17. I think we are supposed to turn up and watch the shoot off (Championship Round) being filmed for TV and NRA web sites on Friday. Sorry; looks like no shooting on Friday according to the Program the Championship Round is scheduled for 8.30am Saturday. BUT it could all change by then
  18. Greg Some of Team Kiwi is doing Flagler ,some at Michigan and some going to the Zoo.
  19. Kevin Richard is flying in on Friday (13th) Allen and I will be the following Monday 16th. Not doing Michigan as we are building the NZ Embassy at Grants. I think Lofty and Joe are going up though. Kyle Keep your goals simple; keeps your head in the right space. Will be good to meet you. Greg I never thought I would see the day that you would shoot 'Open'. Next thing you will be telling me is that it is a "bottom stuffer" not a wheel gun. Warren No doubt I will catch up with you and Tracy around the ranges. Jimmy I am sorry that we won't catch up in Columbia but you can buy me that beer you owe me from 2002 when you come to NZ.
  20. Although the Bianchi Cup is only a couple of weeks away the silence on this forum has been deafening. Is everyone still in shock over the format change? Or maybe nobody is going this year. Well I am definitely going to be there; so if you are going, I will see you around the ranges
  21. Use a Lee Nose First Sizing Die in what size you want then tumble lube. Check your barrel size again to be sure. .357" seems a bit large for 9mm these days. I would have expected .355 or .3555 max. Size 1-2 thou over bore size.
  22. I had a Colt Custom Shop 1911 in 9x19 unramped,1979 build. Now in 38 SC.Ran fine but why run unramped. So many more bullet choices ramped. Sent from my ASUS using Tapafinger.
  23. I take it is the model without the failsafe rod. I have used one without any problems, with the powders I use. I doubled up on the return springs and it gave me a very positive return. I still think they are smoother and quieter that the present model.
