  1. Hi Guys To start with the good stuff. Lyn [mummsie] Cameron has passed on her thanks at the naming of the Senior Award after John. She says she is just blown away and is feeling very humble. NOW the bad stuff. Why should we feel good about a 2lb trigger pull, black dots on targets and grip safeties? This is just a smoke screen to reverse the technology race. Until we are shooting GI issue 1911A1's,230gn hardball ammo or 38SP New Police revolvers at round white targets with black rings in the middle this "committee" will not be happy. In my 11yrs of AP shooting and RO'ing I have seen pistols dropped and bounce a 'few' times. Not one of those has discharged. To shoot a D1 target in Australia against a clay backstop and not being able to see any rings at 10yds should be tried by all. Just practice on the back of targets. This is AP shot by shooters and it should be governed by shooters. It is OPEN class shooting and has been shot as such for a good number of years with NO safety problems whatever. This is not going to promote the sport and get more shooters. You may see more NEW shooters, but only 'cos the old shooters have got p....d off with the endless tinkering of the best shooting sport invented. If it aint broke don't fix it! IC
  2. Hi Guys I have plans for a 12volt mover that is cheap and simple to make. I haven't got it in e-mail form but if anyone wants the details just get in touch with me via the forum and I will post it to you. I tried to contact Warren but didn't get a reply. I can take some pictures this weekend and post them [try anyway] if anyone is interested. Also plans for a turning target system using a CED timer all for free. Lets get more people shooting AP. 3. Looking through the results am I wrong in noting a lot of 'regular' names missing? Mickey Fowler? John Pride? Riley Gilmour? to name but a few. When will people learn "if it aint broke don't try and fix it" cos if you play with it long enough you ARE going to break it for sure.

  5. Hi Guys Sorry I can't be with you all this year but family circumstances and finance don't allow me. Just a few words for the regulars at the MUG and CUP. Mike, Phil, Dave.etc. IF this is the last it is the end of an era. Yes, to spend a week at Winamac before the Mug was to eat, breath and live AP shooting.[+millars,bud,JD,Scotch,etc]. How everyone mucks in and prepares the range, helps each other out, trigger jobs on BBQ tables etc has to be seen to be believed. Kevin, Many thanks from us 'non-resident alien' AP shooters for fighting on behalf of all shooters to get a bit of sanity back to AP rules. Dirty Steve, If you still have 6 GSP,s only one question. Are you still sane? Our duck hunting season starts on Sat 7th and I only have one to control. BrentM joins me every year and we have a goooood weekend. Martin,Allan,Bruce, etc have a good Cup and ENJOY yourselves. We do this for fun. Hopfully I will see yall next year. Coatesy
  6. It's better for us Kiwi's to take home 10k of primers.More cost effective and more use than Levi's.
  7. As an RO that has a good view,I can assure everybody that it IS big.
  8. Hi Folks I am trying to get a couple of guns acc-u-railed by Doug Jones but I have to use a shipping agent to arrange paperwork to get them in and out of the States. Can anyone recommend one? Does anyone know one that will answer their phone and get back to me. I have been trying for two weeks and all I have so far is a phone bill. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Hi You Guys As maui says it's us 'young' guys that keep john in beers and yes mike i can remember shooting the mover in the pouring rain and that was for beers. the spectators (karl & john) nominated where you had to shoot ie 'shoot an eight at 5 o'clock' failure ment a round of beers. we divvied up at the end of the day and yes john got the beers most times. John has taught me a lot over the years and not all about shooting. He has taught me how to let other peoples jibes and remarks wash over you and not to get riled up. Not that he won't stand firm on something that he truly believes in, as people have seen and heard in the not to distant past. I will probably see him this weekend coming and I will give him you guys regards. Ian Coates
  10. Hi Big Dave Its not a money thing for me but I think it is for the NRA. If it was just a money thing I would be last in the race. It is about people changing a WORLDWIDE sport for the sake of one match. OK it is THE match but probably most of the shooters of AP in this world will never shoot it. Do the NRA want to foster the discipline worldwide or just make a profit from the cup. There are more AP events shot every weekend worldwide than people realise. I realise that most US shooters don't make AP their only event but a lot of shooters internationaly specialise in this event. The average shooter is being penalised because one event in the US is not increasing in popularity and making a profit. I heard more US shooters moaning about the price of the Cup this year than internationals so it is NOT sour grapes on our behalf.
  11. Big Dave I've been following this 'argument' over many months. As an AP shooter for over 10 yrs, trips to 'the cup' and Winamac, a national rep, all I can say is that OPEN class must mean just that. I was at the competitors meeting this year, and YES I did walk out when I found I had travelled 10,000mls and spent many thousands of dollars to be told by the represenative of the body that 'runs' our sport that we are not wanted by them.If you bring in all the proposed changes you are running in Formula Ford not Formula One. Sure we can still shoot the match, we can still use our guns after throwing away hundreds of dollars of add ons but do we really want to.Is it really the Open Class AP that we all know and love? I think not.
