  1. That will make it cosy. Back to the 'pre-Tom' numbers ? .
  2. JSC Have a read of these articles. They were a great help to me and my optometrist. http://www.bullseyepistol.com/wong.htm
  3. #3. It stops any ordinary super and 9mm getting into the system.
  4. I can't see the reason for tumbling loaded rounds. If you need to tumble to remove case lube, you are using too much lube. Always lubed, never tumbled and never had problems.
  5. If the two warring factions in Australia don't shoot themselves in the foot again I would like to see Australia get it. Maybe Brisbane.( Sorry Craig not Blacktown.) Easy to fly into and brilliant facilities. Direct flights from Dallas and heaps of accommodation. If it has to be the US, the week before Bianchi would be my choice.
  6. There was talk in 2014 of the event going to a 4 yr cycle but those guys are not around anymore. The tradition was to announce the next venue ASAP after the last one. To be honest; I don't think the NRA have a great interest in the WAPC anymore.
  7. Yeah! That's only thirty down from last year and one hundred from the year before. A great improvement. The queue won't be so long for the ribs at the BBQ.
  8. In the "Good Old Days" We used to get our invites, entry forms and BATFE forms sent to us and arrived just at the start of the New Year, Throw in an entry and then get an e-mail asking if we had preference for shooting times and competition numbers. (Never got 1,good parking spot; or 69.don't go there). As we were sharing vehicles we asked for similar times to save a lot of hanging around. Then within the next few days we had all the info including numbers, squadding etc. That was BD (before Dennis) and then AT (after Tom) it just went to the pack. No planning, no forward thinking and just rushing from one disaster to another to try and put out the fires. Y'all enjoy yourselves. I will be sitting back in front of a roaring fire relaxing and really missing you guys company. Don't forget to send me all the gossip. PS. Had an e-mail from Tom a couple of days ago and he is doing well.
  9. Youv'e been playing again; haven't you? Naughty step for you.
  10. Stephen You hit the nail on the head when you say that the NRA should not be running shoots. They are a political organisation not a large shooting club with the shooters and the sports best interests at heart. I don't mind a few hiccups at shoots run by clubs as these are run very well, on the whole ,by the shooters themselves and any profits go back to the shooters via the club. BUT the NRA is a commercial entity, with paid staff, and they are running around like headless chickens with no thought for the majority of the shooters that make up the field. They have a very arrogant attitude (we know best) when dealing with shooters, sponsors and the like. They run on the mushroom theory. There! That has probably put pay to my NRA referees warrant renewal this year but it needed saying and has been hinted at many times before. Sorry y'all. Won't be seeing you this year. Coatesy
  11. There should be a shed load of them as we mostly used the small joiners. I think the plugs with the wires on were in a separate bundle.
  12. and Miss Helens' Mustang needs careful running in.
  13. Doesn't look like it at this stage Kevin. But then he has a brain like a grass hopper; he could turn up on the day before the match.
  14. 2. Roger as well as Karl. Gosh! beer sales in Missouri are going to plummet .
  15. I will own up! I have shot Bianchi with a 45 and so did Munty. It was the 30 year Nostalgia match a few years ago and it was a hoot. Would I do it again? If I had a gun there to use and entered the Ironman but not as my primary gun. As a side note:- That was classed as a production match but single action 45 were allowed because that is what they shot "in the day". We were the only ones to use a 45 for the match (everyone else tried to game it with 9mm) and got our Production Classification shooting a 1911. Another downside is the empty cases hold a lot of heat for a long time when they bounce off your cap peek and go down the front of your shirt.
  16. This is the crux of the matter. What has been a problem in the Production Division that they need to introduce a box? I honestly cannot think of one. The rules simply state :- 3.2.1.The firearm shall have no visible external modifications except as follows: (a) Factory grips may be modifi ed to fi t the competitor’s hand, or facilitate loading, through the use of checkering, stippling, grip tape and sleeves. As far as I can see that covers all the external mods they may effect size in the box. We need less rules not more.
  17. I see that someone at the NRA has looked up the definition of "International" in the rule book. We are back to a true International Teams event without a jacked up "International USA Team" being able to enter as in 2016. I was amazed they didn't award the 'First International Award' to DK.
  18. "Never say Never" and 'NEVER' was the answer I heard when I asked Denise "If the new format doesn't get the growth, will you go back to the old one?" Yes the Bianchi Cup is a thing but so are good shoots. It is the same amount of work to put on a bad shoot as a good shoot. Rule 1. Listen to the shooters. Not just a few hand picked by the NRA. Put on the shoot that the shooters want and the shooters will come. It will be a lot of work for Green Valley to prepare for only 40 shooters.
  19. This is what Tom wrote 12 months ago. A very prophetic post. Not Just for us but the rifle shooting side of things as well. Click on 2016 Bianchi Cup for full post
  20. Tim The growth in the Cup was happening with the efforts of Tom and the Production Class until the personnel and format changes took place. Numbers are now back to where the Cup was six years ago. Things will never be the same again, that is a fact of life, things change. "Dennis said it will be so". We just have to make sure they change for the betterment of the majority of shooters not just one or two. Shoots should always be run for the benefit of the shooters; not the organisers. I think some in the NRA are losing sight of that fact and are using it as a self promotion tool for themselves and the select band of 'celebrity' shooters. There is an old saying " Don't throw the baby out with the bath water" With the complete change of format,no sponsors grab bags and using the product as part of the prize 'cash' pool I think the bath got thrown out as well.
  21. I agree about the four events being (getting) old hat. By all means shoot different events; even by drawing one out of a hat at the shooters briefing .That might get some attendance at the meeting. I know the range is set up for the four events we shoot but I am sure we can be inventive on selecting the events in the draw. What i am saying is that we do not need to shoot the whole match twice to find the winner. The Speed Event was probably introduced to fill in time to sort the scores out after the shoot offs. With modern scoring we could shoot the main match up to lunch time on Saturday and start later in the week or bring back the Iron Man event. That would save people taking more time away from work (a common moan on this forum) or more practice time if you can get the time off. I might be in the minority here but I do not consider watching the top 16 + + + shooting the whole match again to be entertainment for a Saturday. I am a shooter NOT a spectator. I could sit in my lounge at home, with a beer, and watch it on You Tube.
