  1. I have some Oakley Flak Jackets that you can change the lenses out. There must be a dozen colored lenses available. My optometrist suggested getting something in the yellow due to how it filters out the blue wavelength and that helps get good definition down range. The lighter the tint, the more light the lens will let through. Pick a tint that is dark enough to keep you from having to squint, but no so dark that it unnecessarily limits the light available for the eye. I know Wylie X and Costa also have glasses that work for our game.
  2. The standard deviation will tell you consistent the load is. I like the SD to be 10 to 15. At 10, this means that 99.74% of the rounds will be between +30 and -30 fps of the average. With a 115gn bullet and an SD of 10, you would want the average to be 1117 fps to make sure you would always make a 125 PF. Without knowing the SD, you cannot know how confident you can be that the velocity range will not run below the minimum. Hope that makes sense.
  3. I thought that had to be jmorris when I first saw it. His version would have a jet engine with a flame thrower to anneal while they dry.
  4. There is also more surface area of the bullet inside the case. This creates increased resistance and more time and energy are required to get the bullet into motion. The additional time allows more pressure to build behind the bullet before it starts moving.
  5. 8.2.2.3.2. Removal of material from the exterior of the slide other than front cocking serrations, tri-top, engraving, carry melts, and high power cuts. Not sure how to get around the wording of the rule. The fact that the gun comes that way from the factory is a good argument, but not one that I think would prevail. I would be interested to know what the rational for the Glock 34 was when it came out.
  6. This has been my problem when the case would not go forward all the way. I tap it back down and all is well.
  7. Many thanks fellows. Appreciate your expertise.
  8. So the advantage of having a comp that the suppressor screws onto is the ease of moving the suppressor between weapons?
  9. Does a comp still work with a suppressor screwed on top? I am looking at a 300 Blackout and did not know if the ACC comp would still function as a comp once the suppressor is put on.
  10. If I want any shit out of you, I will squeeze your head. My Dad and many others, I am sure. It must be really expensive to shoot that bad.
  11. The drop and cant features put it out of IDPA. Also, it looks like it is open on the top part of the slide which is a no-go for IDPA. Not sure about USPSA, but I doubt it.
  12. If you can keep primers from going everywhere it is not that bad. The many used primer fixes for the 650 here should solve that problem. Cleaning brass may be the worst thing, depending on how you do that. Loose corncob can get everywhere and it can be dusty. I just got used to the ass kicking, you go numb after a while.
  13. Kinda sad it is over. Happy you have your barrel back, but was hoping for a video of the snake getting rocketed or melted or some other dramatic end. Man, my life must be boring. I need a hobby.
  14. This is getting epic. Can't wait to see te next update.
  15. The published data for Ramshot Competition will not make 125 PF using a 147 projectile. Wait for N320, 231, WST, or other more commly used powder. Looking a little closer, none of the projectiles will make 125 PF with this powder. Pressures are all near SAAMI Max. Not a lot to love here.
  16. What was the OAL for the .45 load? Are you not concerned about overpressure given that you are .8gn over the max and at a shorter OAL? The Ramshot load book shows 34,427psi with 3.0gns at 1.160 OAL. SAAMI max pressure = 35,000 or 38,500 for +P rated guns. I have had a gun blow up in my hands, so I am just curious.
  17. OAL may explain it. That load at 1.155 gets me 130PF. The shorter length may have you at a higher PF.
  18. Interesting that it survived the washing and still went off. I would have thought water would kill a primer. Good to know.
  19. I used 4 layers of 3/4 plywood and then topped it with some laminate flooring I got in an open box deal from Lowes for $7.00. Working very well. Laminate is easy to clean, smooth, but with a bit of texture. Secured it to the wall and floor and I am happy with how it turned out.
  20. Kentucky Fried Movie. Must have been 1982ish and I was a teenager and still have no idea what that was about.
  21. That is too funny. Harry? Who's Harry?
  22. Here are some pics of my bench. It is made from 4 layers of 3/4" plywood and finished with some laminate flooring and 2x4 for trim.
  23. I am not in my shop, but I think I use a 1" Craftsman like this one. Not positive about the size, but I think it is 1". I am not impressed with the Dillon wrench. There is alot of slop in it and mine will slip too if I try to get the nut very tight.
  24. Here is what the rule book says will get a DQ reguarding a discharge: 2.2.3. A discharge: 2.2.3.1. In the holster. 2.2.3.2. Striking up range of the shooter. 2.2.3.3. Into the ground downrange closer to the shooter than two (2) yards (1.8 meters), unless engaging a low target that is within two (2) yards (1.8 meters.) 2.2.3.4. Over a berm. 2.2.3.5. During Load And Make Ready, Unload And Show Clear, Reload, or Malfunction Clearance. 2.2.3.6. Before the start signal. 2.2.3.7. While transferring a firearm from one hand to the other.
