  1. Loaded on a SDB for about a year before I got the 650. Dillon makes a very cool machine and they all do a great job. Enjoy.
  2. I did not kill it dead, but I did wound one when I shot the skyscreen leg off of my Oehler 35P. Nothing a quick vist to Oehlers web store did not fix.
  3. Had to order some spare parts from Oehler today and got the answer as to how fast you can fire across a 35P. They said that the print function creates a great deal of activity on the circut board, so if the printer is on you have to wait until the printer has finished before it will register another shot. You can turn off the printer by switching off toggle 7 in the battery case, but if you do that it will not store your string of fire and then print the summary. It will just show the round # and fps on the display.
  4. I blew up a Glock 34 the same way, I was measuring powder loads, taking cartridges in and out of the press, and double loaded one. Now if I take a cartridge out to weigh the powder, the powder goes back into the hopper and the cartridge goes into spare bin. I never put a cartridge that I take out of the press back into the press. Also, if I am setting up with a new powder, that is all I do until I am satisfied with the powder level. Then I start the press empty so there is no way to have a charged cartridge in the press. Just how I do things since my mishap. Good luck.
  5. People that have never worked really hard to achieve a goal often confuse the result they see in others as inate talent, luck, or magic, when what they are really seeing is the result of a bucket load of time and effort that was put in out of view. Perserverence and good practice methods are how magic happens.
  6. The main reason I did not go with the 1050 was it does not come with the "no BS" warranty. The 1050 is considered to be a commercial machine rather than a consumer item. That and the extra $$ for the 1050 had me go with the 650.
  7. That is not too bad. They seem to be about 10-14 weeks out during the best of times.
  8. In my limited experience, +- .005 (.01 total variance) on any given round is normal. Testing a setup one way (one case per station) and running it in a different configuration (all stations loaded) will yield different results.
  9. Bravo Company and Daniel Defense, Noveske, Les Baer. JP has a shorter turnaround if you just get a lower with the trigger. That is who I have some experience with.
  10. I have enjoyed the research on resilience that Dweck has done as well. An interesting phenomenon related to her work is the difference in some vets that are coming home after multiple deployments. Some are having a real hard time adjusting and have debilitating PTSD and other serious psychological problems related to their service. Then there are others that come home and are actually in better psychological shape than before they deployed. The research now is trying to figure out why some individuals get stronger while others breakdown while experiencing the same conditions and difficult situations of the war. If they can get a handle on how to develop this resilience in others prior to sending them into combat, the amount of suffering that can be eliminated will be huge. That will also transfer to less extreme and important issues that we all experience during our lives. If we are able to go into a stressful situation and benefit so that we are better able to respond to the next stressful situation, psychology will have done the world a real service.
  11. I just got a 650 and the difference in ease of use is dramatic. Having a casefeeder means your right hand never leaves the handle. I thought I would still use the SDB for one load and the 650 for others, but it is so easy to change setups, I am going to get rid of the SDB so it is not just sitting in the box. It has reduced the amount of time I spend reloading and I load more ammo as well.
  12. Lots of the guys I shoot with use Berry's 147g with V-V N320 (titegroup is very simular) 3.5g @1.55 ocl. Shoots very soft and Berrys are less expensive than many others. Also 3.2g of N310 is also popular, but it is very high pressure and unforgiving of you make a mistake. Don't ask why I know that tidbit. Montana Golds are a really good bullet. I have not shot the Precision Deltas, but they have a very good reputation as well. I guess I really did not answer your question: For IDPA I load Berrys 147s, xTream 147s and some Montana Gold 147s. All in round nose.
  13. I think a bump at a match would feel better than the classifier. At the same time, the classifier seems to measure different skills than a match; or at least it feels very different shooting the classifier than it does shooting a stage. I have been shooting for just over a year (with a 6 month absence) and classified SS by less than 2 seconds. Been getting my but kicked regularly since then, but have learned alot in the process.
  14. From a statisitcs standpoint, your problem is the sample size is to small. In order for a sample to be normal, for practical purposes, the sample size needs to be 20 or more. A normal sample in statistics is very important because the rules that govern how the statistics are calculated assume the sample is normal. Not meaning to be picky and all of the other suggestions are valid, just thought I would a my two cents.
  15. Good thing to check. How fast can you fire and get readings? 1 per second? 1 every 5 sec? Just wondering if I am expecting to be able to fire faster than the chrono can keep up. Thanks.
  16. Question on the 35P. Does anyone have a problem with it not seeing some shots if you fired several in a row. It might have been because it was late in the day, but I would have to wait for the printer to stop before I could shoot another round or it would not see the shot. I am probably doing something wrong, but I was thinking you could shoot pretty rapidly and get readings.
  17. [on the phone] Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: Well, Sir, Mr. Copeland was a bad man. He was gonna shoot one of my kids. [pauses] Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: Well, sir, you can blame me, I'm the one that shot him. The Fugitive
  18. Thanks, Next time I will not be so lazy and do a search myself. I was able to find lots of simular info out there. Looks like it takes about 630 to 650 9mm cases to get 5 lbs. Appreciate it. JL.
  19. I am watching an auction for 5+lbs of 9mm once fired brass. Any idea how many that might be?
