  1. Nice rig and great reload, man! One of these days I'll have to replace my Blade Tech with a RM.
  2. The way I see it with the cost of the parts that you are looking at (around $510+shipping) and the cost of a new Para GI Expert in stainless ($600+shipping & transfer), that's over $1100, and that's before gunsmithing fees if you can't fit all of that stuff you want yourself. If you really absolutely must have a stainless gun then why don't you get a Springfield Loaded Stainless? It will come with an extended beavertail, ambi safety, a nice low mount adj target rear, good fitting and a match grade barrel. That will save you $140 in parts and a lot more on gunsmithing, if needed. All you'd need to add would be your magwell, front sight, grips and ignition parts (although a trigger job on the stock parts would be just fine). Also, it would be an understatement to say that there's a few folks out there shooting Springfield 1911s that do fairly well . Springfield Loaded .45ACP MSRP is $1081 and you can find them online from ~$815. So total cost for your Springfield Loaded if you can install parts for yourself: Gun - $815 S&A Magwell - $80 Dawson FO Front Sight - $35 VZ Grips - ~$65+ Total without SVI Trigger - ~$1,000 (And if you don't want a trigger job on the stock parts) Total with SVI Trigger - ~$1200 So at most you are spending ~$100 more than you would by building up a Para GI Expert but you are getting a well fit, forged, very reliable and proven firearm that is backed by one of the best customer service teams in the country. Of the few guns that I have had to send to Springfield, no arguments have been made and the issues have been corrected swiftly and successfully.
  3. Shoot the hell out of it. TRPs are one of if not the most tightly fit factory guns you can buy... believe me, I've sold a lot of them. As others have said, shoot 500 rounds through it and everything will fall into place nicely.
  4. Yepper, I love my cheap Para mags, haha. If I ever switch to a S_I I know the biggest thing I'll have sticker shock over will be the mag sets
  5. Ditto, works just great and is 100% legal.
  6. I carry a my M&P9c in a Crossbreed Supertuck w/horsehide & combat cut. I carry a spare 17 rd mag on my support side with a Raven mag pouch. Great carry system.
  7. I'm going to put in the time off request at work tomorrow for this match... looks like a fun one!
  8. They do, there's a Para option for their conversion kits.
  9. Does anyone know which size fiber optic rod to get for a factory P16.40 Ltd front sight? Thanks.
  10. Very nice, I'll check that out.
  11. Since you didn't mention it I assume you use factory followers or DP? I have to admit the more I think about it the more I wish I would have gone with a P-16 over my EAA Limited, but it was hard for me to pass some of the bells and whistles on the EAA. Stuff like the magwell, extended mag release, extended ambi safety, etc etc etc. All things that can be added to a Para, but I would have had to send it off to a smith to have those things installed. I am sure there is a a local person that could do it all, I just have not located them yet. Yes, I use factory Para mag followers. Some Para pistols come with most of the items you mentioned, look at the P-16 limited model. I modified mine, here is a pic.. What finish do you have on your gun? Looks tough!
  12. The trigger is plastic, and I believe the 16.40 LIMITED has a metal mag button, whereas the regular 16.40 has a plastic one but I may be incorrect on that. I had a guncraft long/flat trigger installed and a guncraft extended mag release installed. Both of the Dawson Precision magwells are drop in, and the Ice comes with a new MSH which is an improvement over the factory plastic one. I don't use the Ice magwell because I've got an S&A stainless steel MSH and the Ice magwell wasn't out when I was building my Para.
  13. TacSol Mk III Holster That should probably work fairly well.
  14. I like that technique of using your support hand to kind of push the gun up into your firing hand. At practice today I was drilling on just bringing the gun from the table to the target instead of trying to do a "press out" and I realized just how slow I had used to be doing it.
  15. Doesn't SSS make a steel magwell for limited that is larger than their aluminum ESP magwell?
  16. Thanks a lot to both of you for your critiques and advice. I am going to work on these issues in my practice sessions and hopefully start posting up better times!
  17. I use LApolice gear shorts, for awhile there you could get the ones with the mag pocket on sale for $7 or something.
  18. This is a match I shot back in April and was hoping I could get some advice on how to step up my game. One of the main things that I noticed is moving in and out of positions needs to get sped up a whole lot. I have no clue how to embed youtube videos on to this forum, so that's why it's just a link, haha. I would greatly appreciate any help that y'all have to offer! Thanks
  19. I haven't any clue why. I shoot lead in limited and have no problems with feeding or leading.
  20. Looks like a pretty straightforward, no frills design. I'll have to check them out, thanks!
  21. Reddotshooting.com always has good prices and the shipping isn't crazy, and it's free if you order over $50 worth of stuff.
  22. I'd like to but it's all filled up and my boss won't sponsor the match :(

  23. I just saw that you're in ABQ, NM. I was visting my mom earlier in April and shot a match out there at the RGPSC. Just wanted to say that it was a great match and y'all were a great bunch to shoot with. (I'm assuming you were there).

  24. I've been shooting USPSA for about six months now and lurking the forum for awhile, so I figured I'd sign up. I hope to keep learning more from the members here and hopefully I'll see some of you on the range!
