  1. If using a slide mounted optic, slide to frame fit is not nearly as important as barrel to slide fit.
  2. Wow, that thing is a work of art and I bet it shoots as good as it looks!
  3. Is it a custom maker gun or a stock pistol...? You might consider sending it to a top notch gunsmtih and have it tuned up and checked out. A 2011 in .40 ought to run ..and run... This as well. I had reliability work done by an excellent gunsmith on my limited gun and now the thing will feed empty cases all day long.
  4. This is Max's signature gun, maybe he doesn't use FO on an iron sighted gun. A FO front sight is only $36 anyways.
  5. I generally drive it from the breech to the muzzle.
  6. Is this a .40? What COAL do you load your ammo to? What bullets are you using? What problems are you having in matches?
  7. cant beat that advice. i use the large dillon and i love it! Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
  8. Do you by any chance have pics of that one? PM'd
  9. Thanks! He's actually local to me so I'm going to have him tune it up. He is a jedi master of his craft, whereas I am just a padawan learner 0_0 . I am definitely not 100% sure on the Serendipity, haha. David looked it over and said the ejection port should be low enough to clear, but if not I will just sell it to my buddy that needs one and get myself a different mount and a slide ride. I may even try out an RTS if that's the case. I layed a Serendipity on top, and it did line up with three of those 20 year old holes, so I'm thinking it will work. If not, I guess I'll just have to go with a blank mount. I appreciate the advice everyone, I'll find out either today or tomorrow if the Serendipity will work . With what I paid for the gun and mags, doing some mount juggling doesn't make me upset in the least . I just can't wait to get out to the range and try this thing out!
  10. I understand the stereotype of gun guys being old and not computer literate, etc, but some of these websites are no better than some angelfire garbage that a 12 year old would make for a Beiber fan page. It is seriously embarrassing that very few gun ranges can actually get it together enough to figure out what a decent website should look like. I'd be willing to bet that every gun club has at least one member that is well versed in web design, and all it would probably take would be a discount on a membership renewal or some other incentive to get that one guy to come up with something worthwhile. I don't think that was his point so much as he was complaining about the "local" rules and not knowing what was "legal" at such and such range.... Such as the banning of certain type holsters and/or reloads below the berm. i understand, i guess i went on a bit of a tangent. having a decent website goes hand in hand with having an up to date website. this would/should include individual range rules such as those mentioned. 11. I work at a gun shop, and a guy came in yesterday with two open guns that he wanted to sell; one was an Errol Lawson build, and the other a David Pruitt build. Both were used and had been shot a bit, but due to the price that he was asking for both guns, and the fact that open guns are meant to be shot...I couldn't help but take him up on the offer. Due to this transaction, I figured that I might as well buy one for myself because the price was right. I ended up with the GunDoc (David Pruitt) gun in .38 Super! I am so ridiculously excited to be shooting open that I have also already ordered a C-More Serendipity, an STI aluminum trigger, a slide racker, new basepads and the conversion kit for my Dillon haha. The gun comes with an old school mount with a Tasco ProPoint (I'll shoot it till the C-More gets here), two 170mm STI mags, and four 140mm STI mags all with Grams guts. I'll be putting a Dawson SNL +1 on the 170mm and Grams pads on the 140mm mags. Also in the package are four Safariland 771 mag pouches and an old Bianchi race holster. Anyways, here is a picture of how it sits now (sorry about the bench clutter...busy day!):
  12. Is that TiN? Very nice looking blaster!
  13. Those blade tech single mag pouches are good, as are the comp tacs and ready tactical. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
  14. +1 on the LED light. I use a clamp on lamp that shines right into the case as it rotates into the bullet seating station, and it works great! I haven't had a single squib since I got it and that was almost two years ago.

  16. I'd ask them to make up for your $30 or whatever you spent on driving the 140 miles to get shafted.
  17. Missouri Bullet Company sells 147gr cast bullets for $64/1000. Shipping is $13/2000 bullets I believe. Missouri Bullet Co
  18. I leave my press empty with the handle up when I am done loading for that day. That makes me start from the beginning every time I go to start loading so I always know where I'm at.
  19. I actually use a toolbox that I bought at Target Toolbox...it works pretty darn well.
  20. I would be wary of using the CR Speed outer belt, especially at a major due to it most likely being deemed as "competition only" by IDPA. In that game, a stiffer belt is not really going to give you an edge at all because all you have to support is a holster and two mag pouches. Just use your daily carry belt as your IDPA belt and you'll be fine. The Ready Tactical mag pouches that you can purchase at CPWSA are excellent for both IDPA SSP and USPSA Production, and taking the DOH attachment off of your BT holster will also work fine.
  21. The indoor range concern is definitely for real. I've been working for a firearms retailer/gun range for about 3 years now, and we just had a blood test three months ago to check for our lead levels. Long story short, I got a call and a letter from my county's health department on the hazards of lead and how I had been exposed, and that at higher levels it can be real dangerous yadda yadda yadda. Apparently, I was significantly above the county ordinance for lead exposure, but still below the "Dangerous/Lead Poisoning" level as defined by the CDC. I now wear a respirator instead of a surgical mask when I clean the range, and I have to minimize my unprotected time in the range until the level of lead in my blood goes down. Basically, don't treat lead exposure as a joke like my employer and I did for so long, because it can definitely have some pretty negative effects if left unchecked.
  22. I just got 25,000 Fed SPP and 25,000 Fed LPP delivered last week from Ellet Brothers, and I think they still had ~60,000 Fed SPP and ~200,000 Fed LPP in stock. I don't think there's any sort of shortage.
  23. That Blue Heron one is awesome! Another neat one is the Hen Cam Hen Cam.
  24. +1 I used to do groundskeeping at a 48 acre active living retirement community. We had 3 guys on our groundskeeping crew and only used Stihl. It was all extremely reliable, easy to start and it was very rare that we had to replace anything. Stihl all the way!
