  1. What I like about the SP01, and Shadow models, is that the manual safety versions are not hard to work on. The short reset systems that CZC and CGW provide really helps to makes a great trigger better. The only difference I could tell between a heavily modded shadow vs a heavily modded SP01 is that the shadow breaks sooner after the reset. This probably has to do with the firing pin block.
  2. Why?Seems unnecessary to me. I've loaded 50,000 rounds on a progressive (SDB) and never did anything except tumble and lube cases. Some people have serious OCD issues. I used to seperate my brass by headstamps.
  3. I like to go about it a little differently. I usually see what the longest oal I can get away with in the magazines. Then I see if it will fit the barrel. If it doesn't fit, usually a few turns from a barrel reamer is enough. Then I make small batches of bullets with different powders/weights for chrono speed, accuracy, and felt recoil. Once I find something acceptable, I make more to develop the load.
  4. I am curious about that as well but not enough to replace the type 2 disco.
  5. I reamed my CZ barrels so that I could max out the OAL (1.155") with the Bear Creek 124g RN which has a fat shoulder that starts early. Now my CZ's can take any ammo I make for them as long as they fit in the magazines.
  6. The area behind the wedge must be filed down: Awesome thread. I had no idea it existed till now. Instead of modifying the disco I modified the trigger bar where the Disco rides on until the trigger reset.
  7. A nicely tuned 1911 trigger does have a nicer break and reset than even a tuned Shadow Single action trigger but the difference is really small. Being able to run a Dawson Precision Magwell is a nice bonus as well. Now that you can run a single action SP01 Shadow in ESP, that might change things a bit. Too bad that the only magwell available for the CZ is really picky with what can be used with it.

    CZ 75 Upper?

Hell, I am always in the hunt for SP-01 and CZ75 SA frames ...What upper was being sold and what was the price?
  9. Hmm, those look like the Metalform 10 rounders, which coincidentally are the worst ones by far for the 9mm. Why would anyone want 10 rounders for IDPA in the first place? CZ parts are harder to come by but The CZ Custom Shop and Cajun Gun Works has everything you need. With some basic tools and some online walkthroughs, you should be able to tackle all of the upgrades yourself.
  10. v1911 are you new? The 9mm 1911's come with 9 round mags. If you buy 9 round mags, guess what, you load to 9. If you load to division capacity of 9+1 that would equal 10. For some stages, that would be an advantage. All 9mm 1911 are subject to shitty mags and most of the malafunctions are caused by them. I have used several different brands and I have made all of them fail. I will try and pick up some Tripp mags down the road to see if they adressed the nose diving issue. 1911's are also picky with ammo. If I stuck with FMJ RN, I had little to no issues. Flatpoints would give me issues from time to time. Now Mecgar double stacks, on the other hand, are bulletproof. I have probably had 20k rounds go through my CZ and the only issues I have had was when I tried utilizing the Grams engineering springs and followers to up my capacity from 20 to 23. 7 of the 9 mags I modded failed and nosedived. Other than that, My CZ's have run whether or not I cleaned them or if the mags were full of sand.
  11. Well I have a highly modded Springfield Loaded 9mm and I built my own CZ75 SA Shadow and shot them both in ESP. Both are capable guns but I have to give a slight advantage to the 1911 for being able to utilize 9 round mags. The CZ, on the other hand, is probably going to run without malafunctions.

    CZ 75 Upper?

My whole point is if I'm going to pay $650 for an upper why not get a Shadow and make it a Custom myself and then I have 2 guns instead of 2 slides 1 frame (sounds like a porn haha)Do yourself a favor and buy the shadow and sell your gun. The Shadow slides are an awesome option for people who live in communistic states like California who cannot typically buy these guns and for those who don't like shooting .40 out of their cz 75's. If you buy the slide, there is a bit of fitting involved and you will probably want to change out the sights and possibly the firing pin. You would also need a spacer to replace the lifter arm that pushes on the firing pin block. If you are not familiar with the sear cage this might be a hassle. If you want Shadow like performance go visit Cajun Gunworks. He has a few nifty items that can get you there.
  13. Winter, knowing what gun you are using would help us give you suggestions for your applications. At least for me, my most finicky gun is my Springfield 1911 9mm Loaded. I generally tailor my loads to that gun because those loads will also work in my other guns. For the 115 g round nose, I usually have my OAL between 1.100" and 1.125". For the 124g round nose, I use an OAL of 1.125 and 1.140". For the 124g Hollow Points I use and OAL of 1.030" to 1.050". Personally I prefer the 124 g bullets over the 115g because they have a longer bearing surface and my shot groups seem to be more consistent. In that same 1911 and my CZ 75 I prefer the following powder charges. Your mileage may vary and you should always work your loads up to find out what works best for your gun. Please follow all recommended safety precautions. 124g Precision Delta FMJ or JHP Powder charges that make roughly 130 PF or so. Win 231 = 4.2 to 4.4g Titegroup = 3.8 to 4.1g VV 320 = 4.0 to 4.2g I also use 2.9 to 3.1 g of Regular Hogdon clays for my creampuff loads of a PF of 115.
  14. Hello all, I have a P01 and I would like to install a Dawson Precision 021-136 Sight-Frontm (CZ Cut, Optic, .170T x .100W with Factory Fixed Rear). I was wondering if anyone has one installed with a CZ Custom Competition Rear Sight (CZ 75 85 97B all Standard Dovetail Cuts, Will require 6.5mm Front Sight). I would like to have the point of impact to be at the center instead of a 6 O'Clock. I have a similar setup on my 19111's and I like to keep my sights similar.
