  1. I was first in my district this morning. They checked my drivers license, crossed my name off the ledger then wrote it onto a backup list, and handed me the ballot. In and out in less than 5 minutes.
  2. I think there are a few shot timer apps available for IOS and Android. Maybe get one of those with a par time and use it with some Bluetooth earbuds, that way you won’t annoy your neighbors… unless of course you forget to check that the chamber is empty before you start.
  3. If I recall, IPSC only issues new rule-books after a General Assembly that is held in conjunction with a World Shoot. As the WS from 2020 was delayed due to the COVID hysteria they have not had a chance to update it. I have not seen the agenda for the next GA, to be held in Thailand (though I assume that USPSA has a copy), the Production-Optics and Production-Optics Light will most certainly be voted on as they are both provisional at this time. I suspect that the Light version will be merged with the main ProdOptics as I'm not sure it has proven to be very popular. I think they may be voting on allowing the Alien pistol into Production.
  4. I think I ran mine with either a Vortex or original DeltaPoint which was a lot lighter.
  5. I shot that setup for a while, using a SpringerPrecision mount, though I am not sure if they are still made or if it fits the latest scopes. My setup was back in 2014 so it’s been a while. The gun ran better with a lighter recoil spring, something I’ve found in every polymer gun I’ve ever shot.
  6. I’m right-handed and left-eye dominant. If I close my right eye and line up the dot with my left eye then my shots typically drifted a little to the right. When I shoot normally, my dominant left-eye sees the target while the dot is aligned naturally with my right-eye. For me, occluded and non-occluded appear the same.
  7. It looks similar to this one from Brazos : http://www.1911store.com/slide-racker-bcg-zigracker.aspx I suggest contacting some gunsmiths and asking for dimensions to compare with your slide cut. If you don’t have a way to measure the existing cut then it will severely limit your options.
  8. If it’s not a tight fit then it’s going to work itself loose every time. You could probably mill it out to a common dovetail fit and get an off the shelf racket that will fit tighter. If you have a micrometer then you could try measuring it up and then searching online for something that is a little wider and then mill to fit.
  9. I don’t think so, not in this country at least. I think Maria Gushchina won overall Production at the FarEast Asia Championships a few years ago..
  10. The slide appears to be well machined but the racket itself looks beat up or modified with a dremel. Can you reach out to the original owner and find out who milled the slide? That may lead to a better racket for it.
  11. I’m curious as to what it actually failed on, lots of mods are now allowed in that division.
  12. I think his shirt was caught in the holster when he inserted the gun. The shirt could have been next to the trigger, when he raised his arms the shirt pulled up (try it) and yanked the trigger, this action could have pulled his shirt completely clear of the holster.
  13. IPSC may have one coming up. When they introduced Production Optics they also added a light version for polymer guns. They think most people shoot steel frame guns due to the weight but I think they shoot them because CZ and Tanfoglio offer more custom parts for those guns that can be fitted under their rule-set. Either way I don’t think the light version has proven very popular so it may just get rolled into the main ProdOptics division.
  14. If the gun has to fit into a box with a magazine (like they have in IPSC) then I think the difference is more pronounced.
  15. If they introduced a Limited Optics with Major/Minor (140mm mag) then: Existing .40 guns can be milled to add a dot with minimal cost. Vendors will sell 9mm Limited guns as they will have more capacity. Competitors get to choose between Major with fewer rounds or Minor with more rounds, like with Single-Stack and Revolver. Those who want to further modify their Carry Optics guns can just use the gun in Limited Optics and make whatever mods they want. And then (maybe one day), we can bring ProdOptics back.
  16. I would always check that my gun would not point at any part of me when holstered. I was at a match many years ago when someone got hit in the leg while holstering. Bullet travelled down his thigh and ended up just below the knee…. All travel was internal.
  17. I think the iron-sight divisions will decline naturally anyway thanks to the improvements in red-dot sights. Just ten years ago, those slide-mounted scopes were hardly reliable, though I did manage to run a Beven Grams enhanced Docter sight for about 18 months on my Tanfoglio Open gun. I’m not a fan of the 170mm magazines outside of Open. If I recall they were only allowed due to a mistake many years ago when the double-stack 9mm open guns started showing up.
  18. What if they had a Limited Optics with Major/Minor but it had to fit into a box with magazine inserted? You would obviously get fewer rounds with Major than with Minor. Those with existing Limited guns could just get the slide milled and be good to go with the benefit of Major scoring, while others might opt for the extra rounds instead with a new 9mm. Those who shoot CO could also shoot in Limited Optics if they wanted to add magwells, thumb rests etc.
  19. My advice; When they ask for your ammo, ask for two bags and put 8 rounds of each weight into each bag then put one bag inside the other, to keep them together. Might be worth adding a piece of paper with this rule on it too.
  20. I think they will probably go with a Minor-only division. Not saying I agree with the concept but I think that is where it’s going to end up. Those with Major Limited guns would not be able to just add a red dot, but would have to buy a new gun. This is the option that the manufacturers would likely prefer, and push for. If they really wanted to try something different they could instead bring back a variation of the old IPSC Modified division that would appeal to both Open and Limited and some CO shooters. Slide ride scope Porting / compensators allowed but it must fit in a box (or have a max overall length). So adding a short comp would reduce the barrel length. A division like this would also allow existing CO guns to comply if (for example) they wanted to add magwells to their existing guns.
  21. Revolver Nationals (back when PASA hosted it) was covered, many, many years ago.
  22. The center of the longest dimension on a moon clip would be the center of the moon clip. So reading this literally the measurement would be from the torso to the center of the circle… Maybe someone who has been to a World Shoot with a revolver can chime in
  23. Hopefully there will be a lot of pine trees surrounding the range, it will help to alleviate the wind that can build up in that area.
