  2. what benny said-i shot one last year-sold it as fast as i could. just could not deal with holdovers-and we have them all the time. also, try shooting a group with that reticle...
  3. i shot the steel challenge for 17 years-jake's wrists are high enuf...
  4. i never stagger the mags-besides, having them the same length allows for a fantastic monopod, whether you shoot tactical or open. also, after cinching them real, real tight, i wrap some good old duct tape around the bottom third of the mags-can still get the bases off to clean.
  5. yer just a pup...i have about 1,300 dayz, but can retire at any time until then...just trying to milk it till 55. counting the dayz till i can move outta this state-then bob at brazos will be hearing from me...
  6. --> QUOTE(Paul B @ Mar 16 2006, 09:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't know why, but when I load Armscor supercomp new brass on my 650 about 1 in every 15 cases won't accept the primer. They seem to get caught on the sides like the primer hole is slightly off center or the edges of the primer pocket are too sharp. Has anyone else had this problem? Not as bad with used brass. Load is <11 gr of N105 with a Federal small pistol magnum primer. Usually the primer just mangles itself but also had 1 boom out of 600 cases loaded. i bought a case a few years ago and noticed that too. not a problem, but wait till you try shooting them...that's another story (at least with mine). they all sit in a box now...want 'em?
  7. chasing an 1100 malfunction all year, thinking it was related to the gas system, only to find all i needed was a new mag spring-bizarre. now have two gas holes the size of a 1/2 ounce jig...
  8. sure hope one of the lucky ones that got in is gonna let us know how things are going down there...
  9. we hold a separate s/c match 8 months outta the year...you can make some coin cause the only expense after the steel is paid off is paint.
  10. i'm a lowly master and like the 6 min dot, for the same reason. 8 is just too big for those tight or long shots. i tried a 4 for awhile, but in the bright sun it was tough to acquire at times. having said that, my steel gun has about a 14 min dot, of my own creation.
  11. i got an email from a friend who's on the SV team and he mentioned he was going to Taran's mother's funeral, which is apparently this sunday. i haven't been able to reach him for confirmation, but considering the note, something must have happened. i'm so sorry...
  12. i don't either-was just pointing out a minor trap.
  13. i had a few in the 2.60's when i got all 5. but under 2.9 would be about right fer 4 runs. again, the transitions are what kill ya. it's kinda like showdown in terms of big plate/little plate transitions, but that stage is so narrow and yer shooting it from each side, not in the center. i like the new stage-would prefer they dump pendulum, which is boring to me and has no electricity to it...
  14. drug the plates out and tried this. i think you'll be surprised. shot it a number of ways, but to me, it's plates 4 & 5 that matter, in terms of which one to shoot first. if you shoot #4 first, it's really cake. we shoot that 12" plate on outerlimits quickly-i like to be done with the first 2 plates and outta the box in 1.8, so #4 isn't a problem. either is the rectangle #5. the b&$ch is the transition between them...it's quite wide, as you will see when you set it up. deciding between the two is based on which transition works best. i found that my splits between #4 & #5 were better shooting #4 first. believe me, the transition will be the key. slight trap with plate #1, cause if you miss, you've already shot #2 and are heading to the stop plate, and have to swing back. not as nasty as #4 on 5 to go, but it's a trap. so, i think i settled on 4-5-1-2-3.
  15. Don't say TiVo Bane may not get paid the big bucks if we zap the commercials I saw those 2 episodes - Damn good TV I, too felt bad for that guy. Only time he gets to shoot real guns is 2 weeks a year and he ADs - uuuugh. Some serious smoking on those stages, dang. I've show that to people and they swear some of the guys couldn't have been aiming! Any body in that crowd fired up for the 72 seconds for next year? it's 80 seconds this year-1 stage added...
  16. The question here is about the size limit and that clase has a H+W+L limit of 71", which is above the limit of 62" - the real question to ask is "are there any high qualify rifle+shotgun cases which come in within the 62" limit" feel sorry for the guyz flying into SMM this week. rob-i found one that squeaks under at 61 1/2", by a company in canada called mezzi. looks nice, but does not have latches for a padlock-only the built-in combo lock. size is 44x13x4 1/2". anyone have one of these that could advise?
  17. called 3 different carriers today(southwest, american and delta) and they all say 62" max linear dimensions. anything in excess, up to 80", is $50. the $50 is for each time you check it, so round trip non-stop-add $100. if it's over 80", price doubles. so, be prepared to spoon out some coin from now on.
  18. bly "sleeved", are you basically saying wrapping carbon fibre around the 2 pieces of tec loaders? if so, how are you doing this (i.e. what bonding agent)????
  19. check the color of the marking beneath the dot module...
  20. revisiting this thread-am planning on flying to the 3gun nats, and noticed most carriers limit size of checked baggage to 62 linear inches-this makes most double sided cases too large, and are subject to $50 additional fee, each way! weight is still under the 50 lbs, even with 3 guns. so, anyone have any experience with another type of case that get's in under the 62" limit? my double sided winchester case exceeds that...i'm bummed.
  21. save yer money-get griffin technology's earjams. well worth the small price, if you want some bass... http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/earjams/index.php
  22. it's on the web site-called "accelerator"...no stage design yet...
  23. jeeezzusss!!! that scares me!
