ive been to local/regional/state matches that have both had and not had chrono stages. the chrono stage, in my experience, has been used as an equipment check to make sure the gun fits in the box and that your ammo makes min power factor. this has been incorporated with faster moving stages as to not cause delays.

i got an accu-wedge from midway for about $4. It took about 5 minutes of slowly trimming it down to install and now my upper is super tight.

Unless I'm mistaken because it has a full length DC, according to some, it has to meet SSP requirements. After that you can shoot it in ESP. I didnt think about the full length DC, my bad.

i have the new radarlock frames and like them alot. I dont think they will work will for those who wear ear muffs. I have the G30 polarized vented lenses and yellow vented for low light. the polarized lenses enhance greens and blues (i have a green fo front sight) and do a great job on really bright days.

you could leave the gun as is and shoot it in ESP as the weight ceiling is 43 oz with an empty mag.

at my club ive seen the women shoot glocks, M&P's, HK's, Sigs, both 9mm and .45 1911's, S_I's, etc. IMHO i would tell your wife that it does not really matter what other women are shooting. She needs to find the gun that fits her hands, that she can manipulate the controls of, and shoot the best. She needs to go to the gun shop and hold, shoot, and play with all the major brands and find the gun that fits her best.

i use 3.85 grs ot TG using MG TMJ's and find the load quite soft..

most of the women at club i shoot at use the bladetec holster. My wife did not prefer the tec-lock YMMV

my wife uses the bladtec dropped off set holsters for her USPc and STI Spartan

the gun is to heavy, but by swapping the steel guide rod for an aluminum one, and taking off the mag funnel, you might have been able to make weight for ESP. the real killer is that the gun is to long, IDPA max is 8.75 inches and the gun is 8.86 inches

You're absolutely right that the rules do not say 1911s only, but they do say .45 ACP only, and they do limit magazine capacity to a classic single-stack 1911's capacity. which is much like the round limits placed in SSR and ESR, yet i dont see people crying fowl because they cant use their 7 and 8 shot revolvers.if you want to have 7 more rounds of .45 per stage, i cant find anything forbidding you from shooting a double stack 45 in ESP or SSP. not to mention you could drop your 45's down the 125 pf level vs the 165 pf of CDP.

I fail to see where it says "1911's only", you can shoot any .45 acp gun in CDP, glocks, XD's, M&P's, even a Kahr if you wish. Personally i prefer to run my 1911 in esp.

after range trips, my wife helps me sort brass, take care of things and on occasion help me clean the guns. When I am reloading, she helps prep the cases, fill primer tubes, get bullets, gauge rounds, and put the new ammo in boxes.

I finally settled on 3.6 grs of W231 , bayou 160 gr LRN, CCI 500 primers at 1.55. Should give me a PF of right around 115 (i like having a little cushion) and im having my loads chrono'd soon. produces no smoke and feels like im shooting a .22 pistol

I don't see how HoMIE's put his own spin on a rule interpretation. If you push your first shot and missed target 1 of 3 in a tac secquence array, you have engaged it by firing one shot at it regardless of if it is a hit or miss. By definition you have to move onto target 2 and 3 or incur a PE for making up a shot on target 1 with out engaging the remaining 2 targets in the array. Once all target (1-3) have been engaged once you can make up any missed shots, in this case the one that was pushed on target 1. In this example the shots would look like 1-1-2-1-2 instead of 1-1-2-1-1. Simply each target must be shot at one time before any can be shot at twice. As i like to say, every one at the table has to be served once before anyone can have seconds.

its all personal preference to me. with practice any bullet weight/recoil impulse can be mastered. I prefer 124gr bullet in 9mm at about a 133-135 PF, some like 147's and others like 115's. One CDP shooter i spoke with preferred 185 SWC over 200gr SWC or 230gr ball.... then you run into potential cycling issues with those down loaded mouse farts.

the sphinx would be close on weight its about 36.7 oz with out a mag and at about 8.5 in long you should still fit the box. so i would think its good to go as long as it makes weight. my clean match is no PE's, HNT's, FTN's or FTDR's and no missed/mikes. i have a good match if i average less than 5 points down per stage or less. Im not a master yet and i have lofty goals to reach this year

Let's imagine a variant of the Classifier, where we put the middle target back further than the left and right targets, so shooters have to change gears within a string of fire, and we put the barricade just 7 yards from those nearer side targets, so that each string can start with a couple shots on the way to the barricade, a couple shots from the far side of the barricade, and couple more shots on the far target after slicing the pie. Each string could start from a slightly different position: (1) two yards ahead of the barricade, to the left, (2) two yards behind the barricade, to the left, (3) two yards ahead of the barricade, to the right, (4) two yards behind the barricade, to the right. That one stage (of four similar strings) might predict match performance pretty well. We'd need to throw in some slide-lock reloads though... while you would provide more more "movement" it becomes burdensome to execute the first and third stages of the classifier if they were left as is. There is some height separation in the current targets that forces you to adjust your point of aim whereas if you kept the targets the same height and moved one target 2-3 yards back does not change POI for a given shooting position. Perhaps adding a string of tactical sequence to stage 1 and stage 2 would get you closer to "real IDPA" stages, but again i think you have an "answer" in your head to a question you have yet to formulate. Another plus for the current classifier is that once it is set, you dont have to move anything between stages, you send the shooter to reload and then you score/paste targets. K.I.S.S. is what i would look for especially for my club, last month we pre-registered shooters for the classifier and needed 3 classifier bays at once and class 31 shooters, the next month we classified 23 shooters. We average 100-120 shooters at monthly matches, so time is a big deal for me where as it might not be at smaller clubs. Honestly looking big picture i still don't know why you have not done a ground up redesign of your "perfect/ideal" classifier and insist on tweaking the current one. Mind you i am for change in the classifier if it can be executed with little/ no set up between stages/strings, and can be run/executed efficiently

I feel that the classifier is a *good* measurement of the basic skills/abilities needed in IDPA. Just like any other standardized test, there will be people who do well on it and people who do poorly. You can design it a 100 different ways and you will still have the same problems as now.

i get 400+ an hour with 2 primer tubes, no case or bullet feeder. I can do this with both cals i reload, 9mm and .38 spl. I use dillon dies for both cals as well.
