  1. Oh come on LoganbillJ, make him sweat!!It's offhand on a rickety bridge in a 60 mph crosswind! And the van tires have 12psi of pressure and no shocks! We actually did consider removing the shocks. Never got around to it though. Maybe for next year!It has been pretty windy the last few days with gusts at 20mph. Doesn't help you are shooting through a treeline where winds can be going two different directions between you and the target. Better bring the 77s! If the winds are going in two directions, don't they cancel each other out!:-) I tested some Hornady 75g HPBT match bullets at 600 last weekend before it got windy. Wish I had more data!

  3. What is the shooting position for the 600 yard taget? Is it supported? Thanks!
  4. That's what I was afraid of since it's a 2ndfp scope.
  5. New wrinkle. I have a Burris MTAC 1.5-6 with ballistic Plex QC 5.56 reticle. I use the Istrelock app for ballistic calculator. I noticed that at 6x the bottom dot only goes out to 473 yrds. I have to reduce the power to 4x to get the dot out to 600. Anybody using the Burris MTAC 1.5-6 that can confirm the 6x isn't calibrated out to 600?
  6. I bought an Infinity last fall from JP Enterprises with a sight tracker barrel. All I can say is, WOW! A grand master once told me that if you always get the best equipment, you'll never have to wonder if a bad performance was you or the gun. I'm just sayin.
  7. My latest dilemma - Zero my rifle for Mo3 Gun Championship March 21st/22nd w/350, 500 & 600yrd stage. I have a new load to test for those 600 yrds shots with no DOPE for a 69g SMK on top of 24g Re15. I've used this load in my service rifle for HI Power, but it's a 20 inch White Oak barrel. With this sub freezing/sub zero weather, how do I get an accurate chrono test & zero on my JP 15 with a 16" barrel w/o access to a 100 yrd target board? With temps below freezing all day, my Chrony is only accurate down to 32 degrees. My rifle's currently zeroed for Fed/American Eagle .223/55g FMJ @ 100yrds. I have access to a 25yrd indoor range. I could chrono/zero it there, but I don't think that zero would tell me much, unless may be, I use a reduced range target. I have some JP benchrest targets calibrated @ 100yrds with a 200 yrd zero windage & elevation line & hash mark above the 1 inch zero box. What do you guys think about extending the line below the zero box on the target? The center of the Burris Mtac is 2.5 inches above the bore. Wonder if it would tell me anything useful other than windage @ 25yrds?? If the weather breaks, I might have one day at the 100yrd target board above freezing on the 14th. If I at least have it on paper before I go, it might be the only day I have before the match to get a useful zero.
  8. Your mileage may very. As my backup 3 gun pistol, I've been running a Wolf 12# progressive recoil spring on Dawson tool less guide rod with a Wolf 16# hammer spring in my 2011 Edge since it was new. The factory STI sear was really bad. The sear face had so many angles in different nonparallel planes that it looked as if it had facets. I added a Wilson bullet proof sear and set the pull at 2 3/4#. I bought the Edge as backup for my SVI SS Infinity. It works so well I use it in USPSA also. It's lighter but really close to the same feel and almost as accurate as the Infinity and eats anything I've run through it.
  9. Ha! Sounds like you really do know him! Good luck with your grip project. I'd be interested in the results.
  10. I wish I could shoot that qualifier. Only week night I have free is Monday. Kevin Monk may be there tomorrow night. You might ask him if he knows of a 2011 grip. He knows a lot of shooters in the area.
  11. Yeah, I've been wanting to go there on the 1st Tuesday of the month for the classifier. My job is really cutting into my shooting this year. I heard they are going start shooting 3gun every 3rd weekend this summer. I'm really looking forward to that since Leroy isn't doing multigun.
  12. I've heard of folks able to load 21 reloadable rounds in a 2011 mag, but not many tell you what combination they use to allow 21 reloadable rounds in the mag. What kinda voodoo does it take?
  13. How does a round get under the follower?
  14. I doubt springs can be successfully re-tempered. If they could, there' be a huge market. Once a spring takes a set after compression, it's going to be weakened by stretching it and could cause small fractures to form. Tempering metal occurs at much higher temperatures then you can achieve in a kitchen oven.
  15. Here's a senario that might be a clue how your extractor became magnetized, or not. Magnetism is created when electrons "spin" in the same direction. In some substances this occurs naturally, but in most substances it does not. Items can be magnetized by hitting them so that all the electrons "spin" in the same direction. The Earth acts as a huge magnet. As a result, pieces of iron or steel which lie in a North - South direction often became magnetized by "induction." Induction means the "forcing" of an object. If such objects are jolted while in this position, their molecules line up and they become more easily magnetized. The action operating in and out of battery provides a pretty good jolt.
  16. I had the exact same issue. I called Brandon Strayer and he said send it back and he would tune it. I did and he turned it around within the week. Great service and it now drops free just like the other 3. Regards, Brian
  17. My SVI grip safety doesn't have a bump and it's pinned. It's the most comfortable gun I've ever shot, and very accurate!
  18. Brandon Strayer sent me his recommended load for my 180 FMJ 40SW in the 5" non-AET barrel SVI Infinity. 5.3 to 5.5G n320 1.190 - 1.200 oal makes major.Brian
  19. I've been looking for a SS PT 1911 in .38 super. Does that TX dealer still have any of them on close out? What's their URL?
  20. I've owned my PT1911 since they came out back in '06. It's run like a top since day one. Eats anything I put through it. It did shoot low because of the Heinie straight 8 sights. Why Bod set them up like that, to shoot POA on the dot and not the top of the blade, I have not idea. The proprietary dove tail sight cuts that Taurus used back then made replacement sights not an option. I cut the front sight down and it's shot POA - POI ever since, and easily clover leafs 5 round groups at 25 yards. I finally did a trigger job on it yesterday, for no other reason than I wanted to do a trigger job, and I used all factory mim parts. Ha! There's just a hint of creep, but I attribute that more to the series 80 safety than anything else. If I can find a PT1911 in .38 super, at the right price, I'll buy it without hesitation. I just missed a SS one on gunbroker for $355. Dang!!!
  21. IMHO, Glocks don't really need a magwell. I have a magwell on my Open G22 and noticed there really isn't much advantage when reloading over my production G35 without a magwell. The only reason I still have a magwell on my Open G22 is for extra weight. Again IMHO, the Glock really is too lite for Open without adding weight.
  22. Just wondering if that stage library post is coming back?
