  1. Now that you've had it on the gun for a while, how's it been running this year.
  2. Probably because there's very little data on AutoComp in reloading books. I've been using it for about a year and it works well in my open gun. If you look on Winchester's load data web page there's only a few recipes. I started off on the low side. It meters well in my 550b, makes major PF, works the comp, runs clean and it's accurate. What's not to like about that?
  3. I ran one last year and I liked it so much my wife bought me another one for Christmas. They work great with 55gr brass.
  4. HI Ken, I tried downloading an entry form but nothing happens. Is the match full or can you still sign up? Thanks!
  5. Loading .40SW for minor is probably smart for newbies. I'm playing around with .40SW for open and it's a tricky caliber. You'll never see plus P in .40SW. Here's a great article on the .40SW. http://greent.com/40Page/ammo/40/180gr.htm
  6. Okay, I'm ready to start testing again after trying AutoComp with lack luster results. I'm thinking about Long Shot and/or Blue Dot. Blue Dot shows a slower burn rate than Long Shot and boasts of better accuracy on the bottle, but also says used in magnum loads. Blue Dot is a flake powder like AutoComp and they were out of Long Shot when I was looking today. Is Long Shot a ball, flake or extruded powder? Anyone have any experience using Blue Dot for 40SW in a comp gun?
  7. Gunner and me on his first swim when we opened the pool. He was 9 months old. Believe it or not, he went to sleep in my arms and that's when my wife took the picture.

    OPEN GLOCKS

I've been campaigning my G22 open gun for 2 years. No issues at all. Runs just like a stock Glock. Never FTE, FTF ever! It's a tank. Shorter slide cycles faster. Jager comp, Lone Wolf Dist barrel, Lone Wolf connector & trigger stop, C-More STS sight, Mag well, Taylor base.
  9. I switched out the large primer ram/cup assembly with the brass small primer ram/cup unit and it works great! Loaded 250 rounds of .40 SW in a couple hours with no problems!!! Ran the data I captured from the earlier range trip, with the rounds I loaded using the wrong primer setup, and came up with two promising loads. After narrowing down the loads I want to test for accuracy, I now have 125 rounds each of the 2 best of 10 different loads. I'm hoping to get an accurate load with less muzzle rise on my open gun. This is why I bought the 550.
  10. Called Dillon before reading your response and they told me the same thing. Since I ordered it for .40SW, I assumed it was setup with small primer ram. It deffinately has the large primer ram in it now. I can't wait to see how well it works with the small primer ram. I've already loaded 500 rounds using the wrong primer ram and it actually did pretty good considering it was setup all wrong!
  11. When you said Dillon can send me an alignment took, can I call Dillon directly and ask for the tool?
  12. I do mean the actual primer cup on the slide. It seems to be large enough for the primer to move around and not be lined up with the brass pocket.
  13. I have been using mixed brass. I have a trip to STL next week and I'll stop by Graft's and pick up some .40 brass. Is there one brand that's better for reloading than the others? Thanks for the advise!
  14. Dang, you guys are good! I wish I could get my wife to do that! She loves to shoot with me, but I have to reset the targets.
  15. We've never had a problem with Sony.
  16. Agreed! Karma needs to kickin!
  17. Spiders and snakes freak me out!!!
  18. My scores weren't quite as good, but I passed both the pistol and 3gun add on rating. Jay was a great instructor. I thought the class moved along at a good pace. The days were long, but it was well worth it. I think we should be see the stuff from USPSA after the first.
  19. I had the privilege to be my father's escort on Memorial weekend 2010. It was an awesome experience. His health was poor, but he did it. We had a wonderful time and made one more great memory before he passed away last fall. He shook hands all day. So many young people wanted to talk to him. I'll remember that trip as the best day of my life with my dad.
  20. I bought a new 550 from this already site up for reloading .40 SW. I love this machine, but I'm having primer issues. I've made up about 500 rounds and it still doesn't index in the case on every shell. I searched this site for the primer issues and found some good advise. The issue I'm having is a little different. I've checked the BE tips and I'm still having several primers that don't index when I go to press them into the case. It seems like the primer cup on the ram is too large and allowing the primers to miss align. It has the small primer setup. Any suggestions?
  21. I noticed that too. I also noticed that I had feed issues with them for some reason. I totally blew Area 3 because of constant jams due to this. I'm going to use Nosler 135gr JHP with 8.2 Autocomp for the big matches. I used those at the MO Fall Classic and they ran just fine. For the average local match, I'll use Montana Gold 165gr with 6.3gr Autocomp. Not as flat as the 135gr, but they cost less. I noticed your avitar is from the STL area. I'm in the STL area monthly and I've been buying most of my reloading supplies from Graff's & Cabela's while I'm in town. I tried Graff's 155gr Rainier bullets and didn't have much luck. 6.9grn AutoComp 10 shots Hi vel 1196 Low vel 1124 Extreme spread 72 Avrg vel 1158 Avrg dev 12.2 Energy 492 Std Dev 18.38 10 round group accuracy spread 3.37” @ 25 yrds Compared to Winchester white box 165gr ammo: 165grn rnj bullet 10 shots Hi vel 1146 Low vel 1100 Extreme spread 46 Avrg vel 1118 Avrg dev 10.7 Energy 430 Std dev 13.86 10 round group accuracy spread 1.88" @ 25 yards. I'd be better off using the W/W/B 165gr over the Rainier 155gr with these results. I'd like to try the 135gr Nosler or some 155gr Montana Gold, but Graff's doesn't carry those. Where do you get your reloading supplies? Thx, Brian
  22. You gotta love the Internet. “The Reload Bench” web site shows this and Titegroup is #12, but it doesn't list AutoComp: The smaller the number the faster the burn rate. 54. Longshot (Hodgdon) 55. Solo 1500 (Scot) 56. True Blue (Ramshot) 57. N350 (Vihtavuori) 58. 3N38 (Vihtavuori . http://www.reloadbench.com/burn.html Where did you find a burn rate chart with AutoComp?
