  1. Titegroup may be one to consider; I much prefer N320 "feel" but that is very subjective and Titegroup is definitely easier to find. Lots of load data out there for it, too.
  2. You'll get lots of answers on this one. I like OAL 1.235, 8.6 of IMR 4756 using a Hornady HAP 125 9mm bullet or Montana Gold 124 JHP bullet personally.
  3. My brother lives in Maryland-- just took him 73 days to get his approval on a Springfield XD. Sucks.
  4. Nice! Can't wait to hear range report..... what load are you going to be using?
  5. I use my index finger to drop mags also...... other than that, no real things I can think of, though I have gotten powder burns on my thumbs once or twice from being near the ejection port. I just tape them up now and don't even think about it. -Mike
  6. Start with a good reloading manual, probably the Lyman's book. Read all you can, ask around if you have someone who can mentor/supervise, go slow, and be safe. Ask as many questions as you can. -Mike
  7. Central Texas (Belton, Waco, etc.) are nice, and also look at the far side of Fort Worth area. Nowhere in the metroplex will work for you as far as backyard range goes, but you can be reasonably close. As you get closer, keep us posted and I'm sure some other folks will chime in as well.
  8. Yes, the scope mount and sight cost more than the gun. :-) I am back to the beginning of the Anderson book and just trying to progress thru those drills for a bit.
  9. There is a reason they are called "Awesome Dawson". They rock!
  10. Well, I decided that osmosis wasn't working well, so I am going to actually have to practice the drills in the Anderson and Stoeger books to see any improvement....... and since ammo and components are still hard to come by, decided to do the airsoft route--- I present to you my new 'practice' toy.
  11. Have you tried various ammo and loads? Not that you want to spend more money, but a good gunsmith could probably fix all your woes as well......... keep us posted, wishing you success getting it worked out! -Mike
  12. Greetings from another Texan.
  13. You sure it's not a rotator cuff tear? Get thee to an ortho doc.......... better safe than sorry. Good luck and hope for quick healing!
  14. Need? If your guns runs, probably rarely........... Nice to have? Yes. Absolutely. Helps with table starts, clearing that errant piece of supercomp brass that you picked up and loaded by mistake, stuff like that. In for a penny, in for a pound. -Mike
  15. Check out Comp-tac http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog.php?cPath=37
  16. Very nice. Keep up the good work !
  17. I ordered last week, got the call on Monday about the web charge blip, updated my billing and now have a shipping confirmation for mine to arrive this week. I love MG and have always been happy with them...... now of course if I could actually find some Hornady HAPs in stock, that might be a different story but beggars can't be choosers. -Mike
  18. Shot a match last weekend using a 9 major gun as opposed to the usual .38 super I'm accustomed to...... since the loads sorta make it apples and oranges, tough to make a comparison but I will say I am in no hurry to do 9 major now; I've always liked super, it's flat, lots of powder options and load options, and well, not quite so "violent". YMMV.......
  19. Dryfire drills from Ben Stoeger and Steve Anderson's books are good place to start!
  20. Noximus03 was kind enough to post in another thread that these bullets were in stock at Dillon (BerrysThick- Plated 9mm).... anyone tried them thru an open gun? I never had luck w/ the regular Berry's or any other plated bullets for that matter in .38 Super open guns, but since bullets are hard to come by these days, thought I'd see if anyone had tried these "new designed" ones, and what their overall experience was...... -Mike
  21. Had same issue in Chrome; clearing cache fixed it and seems to be working fine now.
  22. Thanks for heads up........ anyone used the thick plated Berry's in .38 super w/ any success?
  23. Congrats to Damon Stanforth on the Limited win......... I can still say "I knew you back when........". -Mike
