  1. I'm glad to hear everyone is OK. That is a great match and I have shot it many times over the years. The turn out is usually around 120-150 shooters every week and I've seen my share of DQ's ranging from the new shooters to GMs.
  2. CMMG makes a nice steel gas block for 0.936 and it's not too expensive. That's what I'm using with my JP barrel.
  3. So you were the guy who beat me to that 650 on the prize table.
  4. Wow...a 14.5" with a rifle length gas system. If that thing works, I'm curious to what was done to it to make it work. As far the handguard, I'd never seen that before and don't see it on Larue's product list.
  5. I've never had a problem with my DPMS 45 rounder or my Tripp 52 rounder but for the price, you can't beat CProducts 44 rounder. I just ordered a few and tested them and they seem to work but I haven't put them through the true test, a match. It seems like components have a life of their own and wait to hear a buzzard before they show their true colors.
  6. While I don’t mind helping, in all honesty, I wouldn’t mind having someone doing it for me either. I just turned 40 and all those years of BMXing are catching up to my knees. I've never shot this match but I've heard a lot about it and it sounds like there is a lot of setup and you are proposing an interesting solution. Instead of deciding how much I’d be willing to pay, I became curious and wanted to see how much it would cost. Let's say the match is two and a half days or 22 hours of work and you'll need 2 helpers per stage and there are 11 stages (22 helpers). That is a total of 484 hours. If you pay them $8 per hour, you'll need $3,872. Their lunch should also be included so that’s another $8 per person per day for 3 days or $528. The grand total is $4,400. If you have 150 competitors, they'll need to pitch in $29.33 each. If the match fee is around $240, that is a 13% increase to be lazy or rested when you shoot - depends how you look at it. If you need 3 helpers per stage, it goes up to $44. Only having 2 helpers per stage is asking a lot of those 2 and reset time will be slower compared to a squad doing it.
  7. That is true but American Defense makes a very nice mount in 35mm.
  8. Here's another one of Julius who just passed away. Here's his playmate. She's 12 years and 9 months and still going strong.
  9. Thanks for all the kind words. I fear I'll be going through this process again within the next couple of years because his play buddy is still here but all alone. She is 12 years and 9 months but still going strong.
  10. My dog decided to call it quits this evening. He wasn't doing well the 36 hours prior so I knew this was coming up. He was 104 in dog years and would've been 15 years old in 5 weeks. I know that's a long time for a dog (especially a large 80 lb dog like mine) but it's still too short. We were able to catch him on his last moment and my wife and 3 kids (2, 5 and 7 years old) sat around him and gave him a fond farewell. It looked peacefull and painless. I hope I go out that way with the same people around me. He was a great dog and I'll miss that mutt. Here he is in his glory years.
  11. I like the IOR with the older CQT reticle that is in mils. I use 77 gn SMK zeroed at 50 yards which is around 1" high at 100 yards and 1" low at 200 yards so I use the dot at those distances. For 300 yards, I use the first hash mark which works nicely with my loads and is right on. I like the fine lines of the BDC so you could still see the targtet instead of covering it with a dot. As far as the horseshoe, I don't notice it. I only see the target and the dot or hash mark.
  12. A 1x-6x would've been nice. I know Swarovki makes one but I like the CQT reticle on the IOR. I use the 1.1x-4x and my buddy bought the 1.5x-8x earlier this year. He likes it a lot. His vision isn't bad enough to make use of the 8x and he finds himself fishing at 8x. The magnification ring is stiff. He uses an American Defense mount which doesn't give much room to make a quick adjustment to the ring but luckily I made him a zoom lever. This past weekend, he shot a 3" group at 300 yards which he says he wouldn't have been able to do at 4x. The BDC reticle is designed for a specific ammo at 8x so if you use something different at 4x, you'll have to do some math to be able to use the BDC. I wish the useless illumination (useless for our game) is an upgraded option.
  13. Forward. Same motion as my pistol reloads.
  14. How about a 12 guage belt fed upper for your AR? It looks like they still need to work the bugs out. There aren't any rules about a belt fed shotgun so it should be OK in tac scope.
  15. If you find you have a problem with hot hand guards, wrap it with para cord.
  16. Isn't there a PRS specific to AR10s? I think it has something to do with the cheek pad clearing the charging handle. If you put the pad all the way down, I guess it doesn't matter. I have one and I have one problem with it. I like to keep my nose close to the charging handle. If you use the cheek pad, it isn't in the right place to do this.
  17. It nice to know he's making those in 9mm. A few years back, I called to put in an order for a limited gun in 9mm and I was told he only makes them in 40.
  18. Not another class. Pretty soon, there'll be a class for semi shotguns and scoped rifles in heavy metal. Wait a minute...........nevermind.
  19. I have a M2 with a 21" barrel from a M1 and use Rem low recoil slugs with Williams fire sights mounted on the rib and a LM choke. I zero at 50 yards and can get 2"-3" on a rest. I have no problems hitting targets 50-80 yards.
  20. Both numbers are correct to different questions. What we need is the sight height - the distance from the center of the scope to the cenber of the bore.
  21. what you were told is accurate. i have a GSRC with a BDC designed by the man that did the IOR CQB reticle. he confirmed that data to me. all you have to do is plug in that data into ballistic software and play with the bullets and muzzle velocity and you will find a load that will match the BDC. i have confirmed mine out to 400, and that's as far as i care for our game. So the 2.6" scope height is correct? Why don't they just put that info on their website instead of us having to call them and getting different answers depending who answers the phone.
  22. I called up Valdada a few months ago and asked them about how they calibrated the reticle because my friend was about to buy one of their scopes. The guy told me they used a muzzle velocity of 2,750 fps for the 62 gn bullet and a scope height of 1.5". The 2,750 seemed a little on the low side but that's what I was told. My buddy is using Win 62 gn factory ammo which we chronoed at 3,010 fps. We were having a hard time hitting a 12" square at 300 yards using the 1st hash mark. I have their older scope with the M-SeriesCQB reticle and like that a lot more because you don't have to do any backwards math if you want to use the BDC and a different bullet.
  23. If you want a JP rifle and want to get into 3 gun this summer, you'll have to find a used one. If you order now, you'll be lucky to get it by the end of the year. Something to think about. I'm one of those who like building my own rifles. I use a JP 18" barrel and stainless light weight carrier which are excellent parts and the rifle shoots great. I don't know what the wait is on just the parts.
