  1. I once owned a Benelli. The bolt is much easier to manipulate. Luckily it's not something you have to use much.
  2. Jessee, Do you have an extended bolt release button? I've tried that reload with my FN, and getting the shell into the chamber smoothly is great, but the button on my FN is tighter than a, well it's hard to press. I think that would work really well for me if I got an oversized button. I use the Arredondo button. I like it because it has the tappered leading edge. I rack the bolt by running my hand backwards under the loading port and catching the Nordic handle with my ring finger (kinda like running a pump shotgun). I have accidentally closed the bolt while loading like this too as a result of having the oversized button. So you gotta be careful and practice it a bunch. I thought of getting the extended bolt release too. It's pretty hard to get leverage on the stock handle, especially the way you are describing. I just rotate the gun to the left and reach over with my non-dominant hand to rack the bolt.

  4. Chance of rain too. Of course, this is Missouri, if you aren't happy with the weather, give it a day.
  5. Villamor, This is on the facebook page. Registration will be at the Host Hotel Wed evening 6-8 and at the range Thurs 12-5. Thurs evening at Host Hotel 6:30-8:00. Look forward to seeing you all there. If you go to page 14 there is a link to the facebook page. Otherwise I think you need an account to access it. Is it just two of you from your department for this match? I'm going solo this time.
  6. It's odd that my Missouri Bullet Company lead bullets shoot tighter than my XTP loads. With that said. I can keep hits in the A zone at 50 yards and I can hit steel poppers at 100 yards. So I guess I don't really need any tighter than that.
  7. Thanks. The ordered a couple from the service center next day air.
  8. I was giving it a good cleaning for the Ozark match this weekend and the long spring attached to the shell lifter came out and I heard something launch. I couldn't find it. Can anyone post a pic of the left side of their trigger group. I hope I can get this resolved by Thursday or I'm hosed. I'm at work so I can't get a picture posted right now. Update: It's the carrier dog stop, lower. Brownells is out. Google is not my friend. I'll call the FN service center in the morning, but if you know where I can find one, I'd appreciate it!
  9. I was at the range Friday and couldn't figure out why the hell my shooting suddenly turned to crap. Until I noticed that my front sight was about to slide out of the dovetail. I had a gunsmith buddy stake it and we put some loctite in it. I was talking to someone else at a match yesterday and he had had the same problem. Anyone else? My gun is less than two months old.
  10. I believe that Larue has released their new mounts that are cheaper than the quick release mounts. I have nothing but good things to say about my Larue, and you can't beat their customer service.
  11. As far as gear goes. What did you decide on the slings? Still need them for rifle or shotgun, or both?? And for those of us with the tactical strollers , should we bother bringing them, or will it make more sense to drive to each stage and carry from your vehicle? And a rule related question, if you decide to shoot the swinger with buckshot, are the poppers and texas star fair game with buckshot too?
  12. Very true. Mud in Fayette, 110 heat index at Stockton, it would be great to have good weather.
  13. The stages look fantastic. I really look forward to stage 9. Are both the long range targets 20"x40"? On stage 5, it says to engage rifle targets 1-8, but it lists 10 rifle targets. Are we retaining the rifle when we pick up the shotgun or grounding it? The whole thing looks awesome!
  14. So, what would you do for 3 gun and you are left eye dominant. It would be tough to have your left eye corrected to focus on your front sight nad your right eye focused for the target for your pistol, then pick up a shotgun and have the target and your front sight blurry!
  15. That's the way I did it, and I had to drop the rear slot/blade on the rear sight all the way down.
  16. Enough duct tape can solve any problem.
  17. I've been considering toying with my carrier and buffer. If I went low mass on one or both, am I flirting with reliability problems if I don't change my gas block? Right now I run an 18" Noveske barrel with a Young NM bolt carrier group and PRS stock with standard rifle buffer. I use a Miculek comp but plan to switch to a SJC soon. The gun is dead nuts accurate, smooth shooting, and reliable. I'd hate to screw that up.
  18. The 75 grain Hornady's work better in my rifle.
  19. What bullet is the reticle set up for? Wouldn't it make a big difference between shooting 55's or 75's.
  20. I just started 3gun this year and never really shot slugs past 20 yards before that. I went out today to zero my shotgun with some Remington reduced recoil slugs. 25 and 50 yards are pretty much dead on with most hits on a paper plate and knocking down poppers pretty consistenly. 75-100 yards starts to get dicey with shots hitting 8-10" off the plate. I din't have time to prone out and shoot from a bag or rest. What are your expectations when it comes to slugs? And when it comes to changing up between slugs and birdshot, what's your technique? My plan was to load the needed number of slugs then eject the birdshot round in the chamber, keep my round count(or try) and then go back to shooting whatever I started with. I can see that plan falling to pieces if I have a miss.
  21. Jesse, have you looked at the Lancer 48 rounder? I won one at a match this summer and I've had no problems with it.
  22. I'm glad I saw this thread. I needed a sling for the Ozark match coming up and was planning on getting another Blue Force. But after reading some of the comments I decided to give the VTAC a try. So far I like it a lot. It was a tad cheaper too.
