Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The FN SLP MK1 has adjustable sights. The front sight can be tapped left and right by punching it with a nylon punch and brass hammer. For slugs I kick up the little rear sight in front of the rail. I went down 1 line and that put me on perfect for elevation for my FN. I then tapped the front sight a little right and left until I shot POA/POI with my FN today at 50 yards. I did not get a chance to see where the slugs land at 100 yards, but I am hoping to do that when I go back to work mext week. The 50 yard zero seemed to work great, and I was dinging steel at 50 yards no problem today. I was shooting 1/2 sized IPSC targets made of steel. Spent a good 30 mins at work running slugs on steel and paper, and it seemed to work great for me! I am no novice at shotgun though ... I am somewhere below novice with shotguns ... newbie would be a better word for my skill level on my shotgun.
  2. Thank you so much for all the quick responses! I have yet to shoot slugs at a 3 gun match, but I want to be prepared! I think I will zero the shotty at 50 yards and see where that leaves me for 100 yards. Seems like the two opinions so far are 50 yds and 100 yds. Time to expirement then and see how it holds up!
  3. I had a question, I just recently bought a FN SLP MK1. I was wondering if I could get suggestions as to what range I should zero my shotgun at for competition with slugs. I am very new to the shotgun realm, and have always used a military provided Benelli. Any help would be great thank you!
  4. He graduates next Saturday! Karla and I are going to his graduation and his commision. Wow, that went fast for me! Please tell him I said congrats! He needs to look for my son, Josh..he is at IOC right now. Will do!

  6. Just orderd a few of them from SSS. Looking forward to testing it out!
  7. I have tried a few other mags, I will take the mags apart and check them out. Next week I am also seeing a 1911 gunsmith in the northern virginia area. Thank you for the help!
  8. Ny is just plain crazy =P. Area 7 is a NRA sanctioned event. I recieved a letter after I registered that I need to keep with my gun in case I get pulled over (which means I will be doing 60 in a 60 and using my turn signla in the middle lane! I also just decided to buy 10 round m&p magazines. Since clearly the m&p did not exist prior to 1994. I will say this though ... I will not stop attending matches in NY even though the laws are a bit strict. I would like to continue promotion of uspsa matches and generally all 2nd ammendment progress in any state. I am however upset that NY gets my tax dollars while I am up there. 8 hours is as far as I will go for a major match, and NY is the northern most limit for me!
  9. Great. Glad I could help. Without seeing the gun I don't know if it is the fault of the mag well itself or the installer. Did S&A install it and do the blending? Chris No S&A did not. A Marine Corps PWS 2112 (1911 / ar-15 armorer) did it for me. They made the whole gun, it was also the 1st time a 9mm was made in PWS. They only make .45s for Marines in teams and recon. Ahh. I would expect that it is the blending work rather than the S&A magwell's fault. If you want to post a pic of the front of the magwell with the mag locked in it may give a clue as to what you need done. Chris Ok Chris attached are some pictures. It was actually quite challenging getting the pictures to look right on the magazine since the shadow would always show the rubber end on my cobra mags flush with the gun. There is about 2 mllimeters of room from the rubber part to the bottom of the gun. I took my surefire and made some light! Noel
  10. so confused about the magazine issue with ammo. Can I not bring my 17 round M&P mags? ... I am shooting production.
  11. +1 for the pro-am! Signed up a bit ago and got my confirmation. My wife and I are going to shoot it we can't wait! We are flying from virginia!

  13. thank you for the advice with my 1911 you have been on the money both times.

  14. Thanks for the advice! I contacted a gunsmith and I will be meeting with him soon to fix the issue. I believe you are right about the magazine front and the blend job. Hmmm ... maybe smith and alexander are not the mag guide experts after all ...
