  1. Today at the Buckeye Challenge, my 5.2g VV N320, Montana Gold 180 FMJ, OAL 1.185 went 173 PF.
  2. Dan, GREAT match. This was my first big outdoor match and I had a blast! Thanks for all the hard work by you and the staff.
  3. I've often wondered that G-man. Even at the longer OAL's? I have 7.5 lbs left to use.
  4. Good info Bobby. I think I'll have to be at 5.2g of N320 with MG 180 FMJ's to give myself a little cushion for PF. These are out of a 5" Shuemann barrel loaded to an OAL of 1.185. I might be a little nervous at the Buckeye Challenge as it will be my first official chrono.
  5. This is what I do. Run them thru the U die on my single stage press and them drop them in the case gauge to make sure all the bulge is gone. Sure it takes more time but it makes sure that each case will good to go once loaded.
  6. I'll make a different suggestion, Tucker Gunleather makes a nice leather lined kydex holster that is pretty slick.
  7. Thanks. I put it in last night and it doesn't seem to bind. I should be good to go.
  8. Shooting 40 major. The 10lb spring has been in for less than 1000 rounds but is quite a bit shorter. OK, the 12.5lb it is. Going to shoot it this weekend outdoors and then at the Buckeye Challenge. I'll test the 14lb spring at a later time.
  9. I have a STI (Bedell) 5" Limited gun... reverse plug, bull barrel. It had a 10lb recoil spring in it but I have purchased a 12.5 lb ISMI spring to put in the gun. The old spring is shorter than the new spring. Should I just cut the new spring so it is the same length as the original spring? Does it change the weight of the spring? Or, should I cut down the 14lb ISMI spring that I bought? Thanks.
  10. Anyone know if they are doing USPSA matches on the 2nd Sunday of the month still? Their website has 2009 dates and nothing for 2010. I was looking for confirmation for this weekend before I make the 2 hr drive. http://www.mcdonaldsportsmen.com/index.html Thanks.
  11. Here is a good reference/starting point...... http://www.k8nd.com/ipscload.htm you guys are scaring me that I'm right on the edge of major with my 4.8-4.9g VV N320 loads with MG 180FMJ's. I really need to find a chrono. It is one of the last things on my list after jumping into Limited just a couple months ago.
  12. Thanks for the replies. Assuming I don't have anymore classifiers between now and early May when the calculation is run I should be a 'C' shooter ... 39.7%, 54.2%, 38.7%, and 57.3% for an average of 47.5%. I really thought I'd end up with a 'D' first starting out but that is OK
  13. Simple newbie question here... I shot a classifier this past weekend with 6 stages and have calculated my percentages using the classifier calculator. My question is, do I simply average the best 4 out of 6 to get my classification percentage? Thanks.
  14. This might be a place to start, although I realize most are a ways away from Elyria. http://www.practicalpistol.net/Other_Places/OTHER_PLACES.htm
  15. Welcome Sean. Check out Midwest Gun Club if you are looking for someplace to shoot USPSA and Defensive Pistol (IDPA style) indoors.
  16. Where in NE Ohio?? The website in the post above is a good starting place.
  17. Very nice. I've been eyeballing this gun for a while now. Maybe someday soon
  18. Lucky Gunner has CCI and Wolf Small Pistol Primers in stock. They have LP in stock as well.
  19. I've got a Tucker Gun Leather IDPA Silent Thunder holster on the way. It's a leather lined kydex holster. Very slick and fast. I had one for a P30 that I really liked so I ordered one for my 1911.
  20. I would start here, lots of loads.... http://www.k8nd.com/ipscload.htm I've been testing some w/ 4.9g of N320 but still need to chrono them.
  21. I think you'll find most people go larger than their waist size by 2-4". I have 40 belt and 36" pants, works good with some overlap.
  22. The fiber optic does nothing for accuracy it is cute and maybe a little faster to find but IDPA is more about accuracy. Anthing out side the 0 is a 1/2 second or more, so a 1/4 second for a great shot puts you ahead. I have the TechWell on mine, I wish I would not have gotten the biggest one it makes the mags hard to seat. Get the next smaller one. For mags I like the Wilson 47DE with the .65 base pad. These mags seat easier as they have a little room in them with 8 loaded. Chip Mccormik mags work very well but hard to seat when full. I am suprised you are not wanting to put a trigger job on it. The gun I'm running is a Custom Caspian (won it at the Gator) but I had my Smith go all the way on the trigger its just under 2# and it feels just like my open gun. Try some Precision Moly or BayouBullets at 200gr with 4.2-4.3gr of Clays set at 1.200 and if the gun is good and lose you can run a 12# recoil and it shoots just like a limited 40. Mine is still very tight so I have to run a 14# for now. Only a couple 1000 rounds down the tube. Thanks for the thoughts. I like the FO sight on my Limited gun so I thought I'd put one on the 45 if it wasn't too expensive and was an easy thing to do. I was planning on getting a few of the Wilson 47DE mags as well. Will probably place the order in the next couple of days. I'm just trying to set up a 45 IDPA for fun. I seriously doubt I'll ever do anything outside of the local indoor defensive pistol shoots with it. Maybe I'll shoot it indoors in SS USPSA but that won't be for quite a while as I just got the Limited gun and have been enjoying that so far. As for the trigger job, it is on my list as well and I have someone local that can do that. I'd like to get it to feel similar to my Limited gun. It's pretty bad right now and could use some TLC. Bottom line is that this will be a 'just for fun' gun. Too much cold weather and idle time gives me too much time to come up with crazy stuff.
