    HS-6

Thanks Eric. I will definitely chrono when I open a new jug, I was just hoping I wouldn't get wild swings from lot to lot.

    HS-6

A couple of questions.... 1. Is HS-6 a temperature sensitive powder? 2. Does HS-6 vary much from lot to lot? I plan on testing on new jugs of powder just curious what others have found. Thanks.
  3. Oh Oh Oh, can I answer this?? I think it's a fair peace offering to extend to those fine folks at Wayne County
  4. Ncboiler, Still no testing with N350/3N38? I'm set with 3N38 at 8.7g, however I am going to set up the chrono on Friday to test some more to get ready for the OH match. 3N38 gives me straight up and down dot movement so it's very predictable. Just a pretty full case which requires a little care when loading. At the same time, I have about 30 rounds of HS-6 to run over the chrono. I shot these loads at a local match and really liked the dot tracking. If they are 170-172 PF I might just used HS-6 this year. Might put the N350 on the shelf for a while.
  5. Roy, better be careful as you have to drive into and/or through Ohio a couple of times this year .... Ohio Sectional and West Penn. The state troopers like you guys from north of the border We'll make sure you get special treatment and a personal escort Tactical crane is all well and good, but the start position has nothing to do with the actual shooting of your props. And we LOVE the metric mini's, best targets invented!! Don't worry, we'll be back all year long to see what we can have the maintenance crew fix between matches.
  6. I'm at the same load as you. I want to do a little more chrono work but I liked the way this load shot. 3N38 is also good with 9 major if you can find a 1 lb canister to try out. Lots of good info in the 9 major reloading thread!!
  7. I found a used Bedell open gun on the USPSA classified ads for my first. Definitely see if others will let you try out their gun and once you have shot a few then you can start your search for your own. Open is so much fun to shoot, but I know it's not for everybody.
  8. My rifle is 11.25 twist --- Remington 700 5R Mil-Spec --- shoots 175SMK's very well
  9. Do you have facilities for motorcoach parking at the range or nearby? Thanks!
  10. Victory "Hop Devil". The name describes the taste. Victory brewery is in PA. Also Great Lakes "Burning River" IPA. Not sure where the brewery is located, probably Western NY. Our local tavern keeps a case on hand. Only a couple of the patrons (including me) drink it and last Friday evening the owner told me: " . . .out of this stuff until Monday, you'll have to come back". Oh, I'll be back. Great Lakes is in Cleveland. Good stuff!!
  11. I have the Cheely mount. Switching from iron sights to Open with the dot, the sideways mount gets the dot closer to the sight line of iron sights. At the end of the day though, dry fire repetition is the only true way to find the dot all the time.
  12. Here is picture at 8.7g of VV 3N38. There is 0.100" space between the powder and the top of the case.
  13. Here is the info from the last loads I tested.
  14. I actually haven't done anything else with the N350 since my initial testing. I loaded up 200 rounds with HS-6 and shot those today. I think the HS-6 had a little less dot movement than the 3N38 I probably need to load some more of those and shoot it again in match conditions. I'm not sure when I'll get back to the N350 at this point I am going to chrono my left over HS-6 loads to see what the PF comes out to.
  15. I have the carbide version of the Grx die and have never lubed. I just process a bunch of brass and then they are ready for the 550.
  16. I had to use 5.2g of N320 at 1.160 to make major. Loaded it as long as 1.180 and it made major in one of my guns. Nice clean load.
  17. Thanks for the tip ... I can try up to about 9.1 - 9.2g I think. Primers still looked fine at 8.9g but I'll work back up slowly. Aaron
  18. Went out this afternoon and chrono'd some more loads.... Chrono: CED M2 with infrared screens Gun: Bedell full size. No holes in the barrel. Bedell comp 9mm Major OAL: 1.175" Tula Small Rifle Primers Mixed Brass 6.6g VV N350 High: 1276 Low: 1242 E.S.: 34 Ave.: 1263.6 S.D.: 12 PF: 156 6.8g VV N350 High: 1304 Low: 1278 E.S.: 26 Ave.: 1293.7 S.D.: 8 PF: 160 7.0g VV N350 High: 1334 Low: 1312 E.S.: 22 Ave.: 1324.8 S.D.: 7.5 PF: 164 7.2g VV N350 High: 1365 Low: 1320 E.S.: 45 Ave.: 1350 S.D.: 14.2 PF: 167 Looks like I'll have to bump it up to 7.4g to get to ~171 pf. Once I get there I'll compare it to my 3N38 loads.
  19. I'm an open rookie and this is the only load that I have shot consistently since making the move a couple months ago. It is flat and soft in my gun. The dot tracks straight up and down and does not leave the lens. Looking to work up a N350 load to compare as well as a HS-6 load. Ncboiler - What is the set up on your gun, shorty or full size, hybrid or poppel holes etc? I have a Bedell full size gun with a Schuemmann barrel. I do not have any holes in the barrel. Bedell comp. Here is a picture...

  21. Here is a picture of 8.7g of 3N38. As you can see it's pretty full but there is 0.100" of space left.
  22. Welcome from a fellow OH shooter.
