  1. I've been working out of town , all week and finially got to look at the results from the web site. Wow , a lot of DQ's. were they all from Smacking popers with slugs???
  2. Indeed , I hope everyone has the same opportunity, and the same challenge . It was still a really fun match to shot, and everyone from the newby to the expert will have a good time. DC
  3. Just got home from the RO match. Great props, Fun stages, well thought out. Did I say the wind was a PITA. The stage with the flying birds was amusing , in that the birds went up then took a Hard left turn and just floated. Damn wind, never stopped. Dave
  4. The roaches were to small for target practise , the red dot covered them up. But might have been the reason I had to go home sat. I did look out the window and think , "Thats not a drug deal is it ??" I guess it was . The key is to honk twice. Somebody comes out, from under the stairwell !!!! I agree , with the loaded table start, I was ready.
  5. Guys , it was meant to be funny. If shooters can have their pet peeves so can RO's. I agree with everything that has been said, Do It By to the Book. The original Question , was about "Do you understantd the Course of Fire' . When I started at a local indoor range , with a lot of new shooters every week, I was taught by the "old hands". That was what you said, It was not until I took the RO course that I was TOLD , that was not a range command. As to the "Are You Ready" command, I've stood there waiting for the shooter to assume the start position, which he has not, Standing hands at sides and the start is Hands above Shoulders. At a local match I will eventually say surrender,at a big match I'll wait.
  6. I've had to. A peeve of mine is standing there with my hand on the grip of my gun, taking a last mental picture, and have an RO ask, "Are you ready?" Sorry , the RO was not sensitive to your needs, But yuo where probably 99 of 120 shooters he had to run that day and he really wanted to say " Please get your S*** together and lets get this done ".
  7. Check the bottom end , link arms for cracks,( I had this happen), lose or broken bolts, a smashed primer somewhere in the works, where you cannot see it ,of course ( also had this ). or call Dillon.
  8. Merry Christmas and Happy new Year , I'm in. Maybe I'll go early and get used to the altitude. Dave
  9. The rule states , "A shot which strikes the ground within 10 feet of the competitor". Measure from the shooter to where the bullet hit the ground. If you have both points to measure the distance, it should be cut and dried. There are specific measurements , its in or its out, its like the 180, a specific point, over it , DQ, under it OK. Dave
  10. The rule says within 10 ft of the shooter, and he is not shooting at at target closer than 10 ft. If was on a fault line , not touching the ground on the other side and that put him within the 10 feet of where the shot strikes the ground its a DQ, he is within 10 feet, but he does not get the foot fault penalty
  11. There is a spot on the side to print without other Crap. It took me a while to do it , and now I have two Applications, Want me to mail you one It was way to difficult , Alex are you listening ??? dave
  12. Sorry, Read it wrong. Seems like a reshoot then, 9.1.4. Ro must judge whether or not an accurate score can be determined.
  13. OK, If all the shots hit the first target, and this was a USPSA match , wouldn't the scoring be 2 "A" on the front target and 2 "M" on the back, as hits totally in the scoring area, are deemed to be impenetrable? 9.1.5.1 If the front target was not taped and proper scoring could not be determined a 9.1.4 , a reshoot. If it was set up so this was possible, it was,for certain a stage design problem, and only if there was a plate or popper that was knocked down after the bullet passed thru the front target, would there be a reshoot.
  14. The options are fine as there are . We need fewer options and more shooting. Open is clear, Tactical is clear, WTF to you want ?? A class for everyone ?? So we all are all winners, I don't think so . This is not a feel good thing, that we do !! The best win, the rest lose! Get over it , Practise , get better or be happy with the results !! If the equipment matters, thats your answer, change classes. Get better equipment , Like that will help Ha , Ha , Ha . Dave
  15. I have tried to convince other members in the private range I shoot at, to try 3 gun . They all have objections, most of them are to do with equipment. If you had a class that was Pistol Production ( 10 round ) friendly , single stack 10 would do, did not require another shotgun , almost everyone has a pump with 4 + 1, or Auto and either Iron or 1X RDS and 20 Round Mags on the Rifle (AR-10/15). If it met these requirements , I could convince at least some of them to try it . Then they would be Hooked , this an addiction, I know, But I won't tell them until they come out once. Dave
  16. I started shooting before 40 Cal was popular?.( in use ) . When it came out I had 3 different shooters, have AD's at the time at ULASC. The rounds went off when they hit the ejector. The first , the shooter had covered the ejection port with his hand and had to have the pieces of brass from the AD dug out of his hand. After that I learned to stay behind the shooter until he/she was holding the slide open/back to show clear. The next two were harmless to the shooter and the RO (ME) as the shooter held the gun up, and I was behind them as they ejected the round in the chamber, after dropping the mag , and as they were ULASC the round went off and all material from the AD went away from both of us. As a survival technique, I stay behind the shooter during ULASC and if necessary will ask to see clear until its Clear . I will not watch the round come out , I will not catch the round coming out. I don't care what is happing anywhere else on the range until I see clear. That seems to work for me.
  17. There is a HUGE difference between DQ and scored Minor . I was thought it was a USPSA match rules, I do not do IPSC or IDPA. In USPSA its a minor scoring for the targets and have a nice day. I do not know about the others and do not care. Dave
  18. Why would you DQ someone for for having declared Major at 165 Pf , and it came out a 163 PF?? If it came out 140 , I cold maybe see unsportsman like conduct, but 163 is to close to make it a Major issue worth DQing someone. Minor is bad enough. Dave
  19. Scores are up at http://www.texassouthsection.com/ If only I could count , I would have done Better , dave
  20. Its Houston , it will be Hot, Humid with a chance of rain. Weather channel says 87 deg , 30% chance of rain. If its not lightning , I'll bet we will shoot .
