  1. Check the upper receiver retention bolt. If its not damn tight, the upper wil move. Access it through the stock, 6 mm cap screw, the bolt that holds it together, if it comes loose the upper can move forward and the hammer will just barely hit the firing pin. Every threaded thing on my gun has come loose at least once, including the C-more ,the first time I just tightend it, the second time "I TIGHTENED IT" A little blue locktight, also. Dave.
  2. Sagia"s are UGLY, like GLOCKS, I don't do better with the other options. But I look better. I think. " Shoot fast, Look Good",Is the motto I've adopted. Shoot, At this point in my shooting, looking good counts, and the Akdal looks cool as does my 9 open S*I. I perceive, I'm better with this option and That is all that matters to me.
  3. i've found at least 4 diferences, in 8, 5 round mags that I have. Now I have 2, 11 round Firebird mags and 4, 13 round mags that I made, they seem to work. 250 + test rounds. Still playing with the other two, trying to modify a sagia mag to work, I keep trimming thru the plastic and they crack or I cannot get them in the gun. The combo mags work, so far, 13 rounds. I'm still experimenting. Old retired guys have the time to play with this kind of crap. I'm shooting a 3 gun match this weekend and will only use my mags. I'm really hope that they work at the match as well as they work in practise. Otherwise I'm screwed. One thing I have found is that you must have a full stroke of the bolt, every time, when you are shooting or loading from cruiser ready, short stroking at any time does not work. It also seems, that the gun can cycle to fast, to pick up the next round, if you are using full powered slugs, but with a little breaking in of the gun and the mags this problem stops. The guys at the range I belong to, think I am completely NUTS. I go to the shot gun range and rip off 3 or 4 rounds. and change mags and do it again. If the mags run the first 3 or 4 they will run the the rest of the mag.
  4. We made some shooting bags using old blue jeans. Cut off the legs, 2 bags per leg, sew them up like a pillow, and filled them with plastic pellets. Not water proof, but stable, light , and easily dried.
  5. Always protest to the RM if you think you are right. Be polite . The hole is there. so it has to be scored.( since the course was not checked before you went thru it) Use the rules. I did not do it, will not work. I would make an attempt to use 9.1.4. Make it a questionable call, hole dia, # of shots fired, use what you have and if you can make your case for the rule you quote. You can win. Ask for the RM , WAIT TO BE ASKED by the RM your side. Do not climb all over him when he gets there, as he will probably ask the RO first what is going on. Do what you can to support your case , make the call a questionable call , present all of your facts in such away that it is impossible to determine an accurate score. You then get a reshoot. Best outcome for this case.
  6. I could have won the lottery, if I had played the winning numbers. You can't win if you aren't in the game. To me, part of the beauty of the show, is that anyone, on a given day, can win. Who is to say that, throwing rocks, shooting moving targets from a ramp with an arrow, would not get anyone eliminated, not to mention, the merry go round, that looked to be a absolute hoot to shoot. Which to me is and was, absolute, shooting on demand. Dustin outshot the competition, he won, Congrats to him, for Being TOP SHOT.
  7. How many did Matt B get?? they show him as part of the demo.
  8. Is there are a cut off date?? Waiting on a friend to get the OK from work, before we send in entry forms. Should have it early next week. Is that going to be OK??
  9. Thats a nice pic of the ejector. Pull the firing pin stop, remove firing pin, remove extractor from slide and clean the hole with a q tip. Put extractoer back in and put in firing pin stop. Hook on extractor, in the slide should hold a piece of brass without forcing it under hook and should not drop it.
  10. I believe you just Offended Tampa and Baytown Texas As some one who worked in Baytown TX. I'm not offended. If I thought they would help my shooting I'd wear them.
  11. I've seen El prez run under 5. Thats 12 shots 10 yards , turn draw and a reload. Like I said , T5 is difficult, not immpossible , Practise , Practise , practise.
  12. Thanks, I knew I was missing something. Somewhat difficult, but not impossible.
  13. One of the shooters claim to fame was to shoot the ' Tripe Nickel' ??? One of 80 or so to do it. I looked it up and its 5 shots,at 5 different targets at 5 yards in 5 seconds . I think . What am I missing .
  14. A lot of running for 24 rounds, I figured at 140 yards +, shooting was not the problem, running and continuing to breathe, not a fun stage for me, and the V-tac barricade was not much fun either. The other 2 were good stages and I hope we see more of that type rather than endurance and flexibilty stages.
  15. Tnek, you were right, the bushing makes a lot of difference. I could not order a bushing until monday, so I made one and tested it this morning. Ran the light stuff great, got 40 rouds thru it before I had a stovepipe. Don't think it was the guns fault, I was going as fast as I could, felt that it was different and looked down. I was not as locked in as i should have been. ran the last 10 rounds just fine.
  16. Not quite plug and play. Picked up one this morning, and tested it this afternoon. After I put a Red Dot on it. It ran 3 3/4 dram loads with one faiure to eject. 25 rounds. any Mag. The 3 1/4 dram loads, would run in the 2 3/4 mag, but not the 3 in mag, and would not lock back. With low recoil slugs it was a single shot. Would not even get the cases far enough back to jam. Just slight movement of the bolt and back into battery with the empty case. Lots of potential, easy to handle, need 10 round mags. More testing/excuse to go to the range, needed. Cleaned and lubed, ready for more testing.
  17. Can I shoot open class or is this a tactical match, no optics on pistol or shotgun and no speed loaders?? Price???
  18. Need to ask Ken, when you see him , what it is like to shoot a Really Hot Gun, temperature wise, after running all the stages in 75 min or close to that, and shooting the long range last , it singed most of the hair off of his left forearm. It was also not good for accurcy, both from the hot barrel and just trying to hold the D*MN thing.
  19. Good match. Liked the scoring system. Hated the plastic orange balls and cubes. Unreliable. Watched them wiggle, rotate, and lean all when obviously HIT. They did every thing but fall. Good idea , just did not work out for the entire match. Had no problems with the softballs , but shot them early. Saw some BIG holes at the exit points after some 223 shooters. Thanks to the all who worked long and hard in the heat. Dave
  20. Ran it in 38.77. I'm a Senior Master Open. Good thing there is no running. Felt OK, Missed a reload, Hate weak hand. dave
  21. Quick calc's IF 35 sec = 100% 50 rounds all A's 250 points / 35 sec = Hit Factor 7.14 GM 36.8 sec = 95% This or quicker is GM HF 6.79 M 41.1 sec= 85% This or quicker is M HF 6.08 A 46.7 sec = 75% HF 5.35 B 58.8 sec = 60% HF 4.25
  22. I have 6 ranges that I shoot "Local Matches " 4 are grass , 1 is sand and the other is ?? Rocks, gravel, dirt , you get the idea its highly variable . I find footing matters, Grass is faster , with good footing you don't have to think about it , sand is slow , its like trying to run on a beach, in my case its always SLOW. Set-up also matters some clubs want to slow down the Good Shooters. It works, with a lot of no shoots, hard long shots, and the lower class shooters really suffer. Some clubs are just more relaxed , A lot of good natured Kidding / Help. Some are really serious, It matters to the people how they finish and they think it matters to everyone. I've learned that FUN is the most important part, I'm more relaxed and I perceive that everyone around me is more relaxed. That is what makes the Double Tap match a great match for me, good stages , Good Footing , as long as its not snowing, and relaxed RO's , Good RO'S but not stressed. Bottom line, I shoot better when I'm not stressed about anything, range conditions, stages, RO's. If I show up do as good as I can , have fun and go home. Its a good day. Dave
