  1. I really wish I would have read this from home...I'm here at work crying from laughter. That was great Erik!! (Edited by Bill Schwab at 12:32 pm on Dec. 9, 2002)
  2. Probably more than you wanted to know . . . NO, not at all, keep it coming....
  3. What a help you've been, I LOVE this place...can't wait to meet more of you next summer.
  4. Anyone out there know anything about Huenig? As I recall he used to build race cars, then went into gunsmithing, then back into race cars. Does anyone have any more info on him, and maybe the correct spelling of his name so an internet search will be productive? Thanks
  5. This may help: http://www.brianenos.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard...3&topic=318 BTW: my SS 45 (IDPA and Lim-10 gun, can't carry in this state) has a 3.2 lb pull and I'm having two SS's built that will both have 2.5 lb pulls. (Edited by Bill Schwab at 10:40 am on Dec. 4, 2002)
  6. If you know someone who works for the government or law enforcement, you can get the 'government' discount which is 50% off retail. Chris, Thanks for the tip, I had no idea Oakley offerred such a great discount. I'm ordering a few new lenses this week. FYI: the phone # for the gov't employee discount is 800.525.4334, funny thing is that they did not ask me for any proof that I am a Federal employee.
  7. OJ, I took a class from Leatham just before the Single Stack Classic. He said in the 45 he preferred VV N310, in fact he said he uses 310 in 45, 40 & 9 (in limited guns) since the PF has been lowered. He also said he preferred heavy bullets in limited guns. That being said, he told us his load for 45, it was a 230 gr bullet with 3.? grains on 310. I wish I could remember the exact grains of powder as I just acquired some 310 to test drive. I hope this helps. (Edited by Bill Schwab at 3:46 pm on Nov. 21, 2002)
  8. How much 310 are you throwing in those 45 cases?
  9. Thanks for all the help guys, the swap went smoothly. And what a difference, that stock unit is not sufficient.
  10. I was able to get the rulebook and course of fire from the match administrators. Here’s the deal, three events: the handgun action event, long range event, and the precision event. Action event is three stages, 45 targets. Five steel targets per stage, with three runs at each stage. Maximum of six shots per run. Minor is the power factor floor. Steel guns are typical. Long range event is 45 targets, 45 shots max. It’s broken down into three stages, each consisting of a ten round phase and a five round phase. Targets are steel discs of 6, 9 & 12 “ diameter, and are set at 75, 100, 150 & 200 meters. I understand that the time constraints make this course challenging. There are prone and offhand portions. XP-100’s are typical. Precision event is again 45 targets, with 45 shots max. Three stages containing three phases of five targets each. You fire at 1.77” & 4.5” targets at 25 & 50 meters using a standing one-handed hold. 22 bullseye style guns rule the day here. I could swear you could only have a scope of two of the three handguns, but I’ll be darned if I can find it in the rule book!!
  11. I am new to open, and 38 Super, so can someone give me a reasonable guess on what recoil spring weight I should be using? It's a singlestack open gun built by Matt Mclearn. Colt Gov't Model, with slide chopped to Commander length, 38 Super, it takes Gov't length springs. Sports a fully supported cone Clark barrel with dual port Clark comp. Slide has been lightened, described as moderately lightened by the previous owner who said it was designed to be able to shoot both steel and major loads. Stripped slide weighs in at just under 12 oz. (my 45's slide is 13 oz in change with the rear sight installed). Let me describe the lightening: rear of slide (where the rear sight would be) is lopped off, top radius of slide flattened, scallops (similar to a blood groove on a knife) tastefully taken off of the slide where the top radius of the slide meets the slide flats (both front and rear of slide, looks awesome), the only other lightening is some metal removed internally near the rear of the slide (near extractor and firing pin). I'd appreciate any help. Bill
  12. Kelly, Thanks! Where can I find a picture of the Cooley comp? I went to his site and JP site, but no luck!
  13. I went from 59% in Lim-10 to 73%!! A class here I come....
  14. TR, Yeah, I never was a big Chrysler fan, and right now I own three (don't know how that happened!). Anyway, I'm planning on gravitating back to GM or German. tightloop, Luck of the draw I guess. I'll still be anal about maintence on all my cars though... Sam, I was thinking more along the lines of 50 cal AP!!!
  15. Vince, I guess you don't get many six hour dry fire sessions like the pros then, huh???
  16. I think the title says it all....
  17. Natural One, Folk Implosion. Good one! Haven't heard it in years...
  18. Yes, take it easy today and give yourself a pat on the back. Bill US Army Infantry 1991-1993 Colorado Army National Guard 1993-1999
  19. Thanks for all the great help and suggestions!!
  20. Okay here's the scenario: I got this car when it had 50k miles on it from the original owner, a senior citizen. It's a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim, it looks great inside and out. I baby it with 3k mile oil changes (synthetic oil!!), frequent transmission fluid & filter changes, radiator flushes, tune-ups, etc, I mean, I am a auto maintenance God, I even change my fuel filter annually. So this summer my oil pressure starts getting VERY low, I think that this isn't a good sign of things to come, but that I'll stick with the car to the end. I throw in heavier oil (15-40), and keep driving it. It's a back and forth to work car, nothing extravagant. Life seems temporarily stable, until last week...out of the blue the transmission sticks in 2nd gear. Turns out the trans is hosed, and costs more to fix than the value of the car. That's no financial biggie, no sweat of my back because I still have two other cars and we knew this car wasn't worth much, so we donate the car to charity for a much needed tax write-off. What bugs me is the fact that I took damn good care of that POS! I would expect a car, no matter what manufacturer, to last longer than that considering how well I took care of it, but maybe I'm jumping the gun, because I don't know how that senior serviced it....I guess I just needed to vent.
  21. I'm getting ready to take replace my G17's mag release button with a G34 button (the IDPA RO will never notice ). I've talked with a friend who's changed out Glock mag release buttons and apparently they can be a bear. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for this dumb 1911 guy?? Bill
  22. Yeah, I've gotten two of those e-mails....
  23. I use a Bianchi Hemisphere for Limited 10 and soon Open. I love the holster, but the one gripe I have about it is the play the gun has when it's holstered. Have any of you modified the holster to eliminate this play? How would I go about doing the same? And are there any other mods typical of this holster? Thanks Bill
  24. TR, He had a Lee die in station 3 of his 550 that was seating and crimping. He backed off the die so it's only seating.
