I have an older 10mm Witness Hunter and with the stock barrel, and a spare drop in barrel in 9x25, it shoots sub 1.5" 25 yard groups with irons using either barrel with relative ease. I bought it used for about $800 a few years ago; pretty incredible gun for the $$$. Seems to like lead or jacketed too. Not a picky gun at all once you get the config ironed out. Handles heavy 10mm loads better than any of my other 10mms too.

Continuing to Troubleshoot a Witness Hunter (10mm)

Yes, just got a 2nd one today so both my Tanfos have them. I used to use Henning's square bottom, but he no longer makes them. -
Continuing to Troubleshoot a Witness Hunter (10mm)

Two 10mm Tanfos here, one LimPro and a 10mm Witness Hunter. WH is original slide with no holes, and iron sights, and I found it's a delicate balance between slide velocity and getting the rounds up from the mag (if slide velocity is too high the rounds won't have enough time to feed up). BUT the first order of business is slowing unlocking, so I have EGW square bottom firing pin stop, and a heavier (18#) hammer spring. With those I can run an 18# Wolff recoil spring, but what I also found essential was Grams springs and followers. With this combo I can run standard length or extended mags with no issues, and with hotter loads than any of my other 10mms. Buffers in Tanfos never were reliable for me too. And I found the 20 and 22# recoil springs to slam the slide forward way too fast, plus the rounds couldn't feed up from the mag fast enough. Hope this helps. -

Thanks Alan. Bedord is a hike, but only a little further than Chambersburg PA, so very doable (I always wake up with the chickens!). Do you have a website when I can view the upcoming schedule? Also, do you allow 22 rimfire?

From searches it seems to me the closest active AP matches to me are Chambersburg PA and Pioneer in NY. I've checked the CMP Competition Tracker, and do not see any matches listed. I cannot seem to create an account in the NRA match website to search their list of matches. The Match Announcements page here doesn't have a lot going on. Soooo how does a new guy to AP find other matches? Or are there very few left? Appreciate any guidance.

My 617 didn't like an extended FP, she preferred the stock FP. Good luck!

Most aggressive I've used: Burner grips

Whoa, so happy to see a 44 model on that site. Thanks for the heads up! -
PD just announced Sledge Lite hammers as well. All their hammers in different finishes too.

Yeah, I own one of those, it does a good job at covering the hole, but the design isn't my favorite.

Glad to hear about the smallish TK cylinder release; does it do a decent job of covering the Hillary hole?

Witness Hunter vs IFG Gold Match
Bill Schwab replied to FredCheckers's topic in Tanfoglio (EAA / IFG)
I have two leather holsters for my WH. One is a Simply Rugged; curiously they no longer list the WH as one of the guns on their list, but I bet if you contact Rob he'd still make one. I also have a steel lined leather Davis holster; Dave Cox is super to work with and the holster is a gem, but just make sure you specify it's a large frame Tanfo. -

FWIW I had malfunctions with Henning's buffer and also with heavier recoil springs. 18-20# Wolff recoil springs, with a heavy hammer spring, seem to be the sweet spot. 22# recoil spring made the slide speed outrun the mag lifting the next round. -
Witness Hunter vs IFG Gold Match

No issues whatsoever with my older style Witness Hunter 10mm. For 10mm I would want the heaviest slide possible to slow the slide movement down; said another way, no slide lightening holes. -
You can tell if they have a FP block because you can see the pin in the rear cocking serrations, so it's an easy visual way to tell. And yes, that does seem to be the highest model with the FP block. Any of the Shadow variants do not have the FP block.
