  1. Finish is Dura coat, JUST finished last night, really needs to cure a while for best longevity , I like Durabake better, it's cured in 30 min. Haven't shot it yet, it WILL get a workout this weekend at a 3 gun match. We'll see The Durabake FDE that I took off still looks VERY good, after about 8 months of beating.
  2. Decided to ADD some color to my SG Figured if the wife can have ALOT of shoes, I can have a change of clothes for the old SG My Sons as well
  3. Nice. Do you have a website? I've been thinking about a FFIII and picking up an old slide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free A link in my sig, we don't have anything on there about melting in the RDS, but MANY other items we make are there.
  4. We did try some top ports (2nd gen) they bled off too much gas, we may have got a couple too many in that design. The 4th gen seems , so far to be the best. need to fire a lot more test rounds, and study the gas patterns to see if we can make a few adjustments Barrel is ported inside the comp, we had to do quite a bit of R&D to find the best number of ports for reliability VS effectiveness , but I think we are close to where we need to be. The test results are encouraging anyway.
  5. Here's a pic of one we did a while back, we've mostly just installed Burris Fastfire lll's , on 9mm & .40's. I don't know of any that have had problems with the FF lll ETA, new pic,it's been on there about 1 1/2 years
  6. Thanks, been reading here for a while , posting here a little shorter
  7. Since we are not a site sponsor, YET , I won't go any further on that side. Mainly looking for some input , and would like to see some GOOD tests, not the "butt dyno"(for you car guys) kind, just to see where we're at. We did make another design, it didn't reduce the recoil any more but moved the muzzle rise down to 2" , down from just around 5" non-comp'ed, with 1300fps, the 1145's stayed almost the same with either design, MAYBE 1/2" less rise. But the temp / humidity was much higher with this test, we just tested the comp only, and compared it to the previous non comp'ed barrel. I don't know how much temp/humidity has on SG shell velocity. 1st test temp was about 74, humidity around 45% 2nd test was 97 with 90%+ humidity
  8. I agree 100% , but most matches I've RO'd there's no time to give every shooter their OWN individual stage brief. As an RO , I make several announcements leading up to the brief, 5 min til brief , 1 min til brief. etc. I ALSO pay attention to who's NOT listening/talking, during the brief They get NO special "in the box" brief, not fair to those who DO pay attention.
  9. Just a couple days ago, a guy said he about got a DQ, from inspecting a barrel REMOVED from the gun, no bolt. That's the MAIN reason I shoot outlaw matches, they're also GREAT FUN ! I get a good laugh out of reading the" I got a DQ" , "should I have DQ'd them for X?" , ? on some other places
  10. Are there NO tests out there? I've looked to see how ours stacks up , I've seen ALOT of claims, but no tests, surely there are some and I just can't find them. ? ? ?
  11. PRICE maybe ? I got some promag 30's to sell during the panic, I figured I'd try some , MOST of them ran fine the ones that didn't the front of the mag was just a bit high, causing FMJ to catch, ALL other rounds worked fine, about 4-5 strokes with a round file they worked 100% Their AK 47 drum did the same, same easy fix.
  12. THANK YOU! Well stated! Whenever I play the TPC course, no one ever tells me what clubs I should play with because that a certain club maker is a sponsor. Sorry, this is a carryover from an earlier topic on rifles. In Golf do they have prize tables for first to last place? Pat OH , GOLF, i had NO IDEA what Life was talking about, til the "I shoot what I can afford to shoot....." guess I need to get OUT more.
  13. As a RO , I'd have no problem with that, what gets irritating is, the guy asking that, which I JUST clarified was OK/NOT OK, during the stage briefing, but he and his buddy were talking the whole time. I have started taking note of those guys and when they ask, I simply say "we just covered that in the briefing". When I do a stage briefing I try and stress the little diffenences between matchs , what is OK/NOT OK at THIS match. for example , After the buzzer can I load more rounds?, can I start with rounds in my hand?
  14. You MUST put the rule book in picture form, for some. We get QUITE a few calls about our products, guys LOOKING at our web site, while on the phone with me and asking the EXACT questions the product description describes, it happens so much it's ALMOST funny.
  15. It's getting better .22LR is still probably the worst , at least here. .223 and 9mm is avilable, not much choice on brand.
  16. My son and I , decided to see how effective a 12 ga comp/brake we could build, here's our first attempt.
  17. That is a Kicks ported choke, Mod , the ports don't really help, I like extended chokes, makes changes easier The recoil is not bad at all , muzzle rise is negilegable .
  18. Here's 10 20 rounds through a MKA , 1300 FPS break in rounds
  19. Thats good to know I forgot, my daughters boy friend's 870, DID lockup quite similar to what your describing, after the 3-4 time doing the butt stroke to the ground to clear it, he quit shooting it and switched to one of our MKA's
  20. The 18 inch barrel works fine - it is just too short for all of the stages we run and it is a fixed cylinder choke. Why not, have the 18 threaded for chokes? 18" is all I've ever run in 3gun, heck we were breaking clays consistently at 65 yds with a Xfull choke. Winchester bulk pak ? , we've had that same problem for quite some time, does the same in my Benelli , 930, MKA 1919, never had a lockup that bad, but routinely they would come out WITHOUT most the lip for the extractor to grab, Yes the SWELLED that much, or the "brass" was split. Quit buying Winchester about a year ago, Win AA's NO problems
  21. I'm sure when he can, he will . IF, and I'm just guessing , it's family issues. There is NOTHING in this world that is more important than taking care of your family. Once again , I'm just guessing. Probably shouldn't even have posted this.
  22. I will say this, Kirk is the MOST standup guy I know, if there was a way the match could have went on , it would have. If you remember , maybe 3 ?years ago? , he did the match with a BROKEN BACK! I realize most of you only see Kirk once a year at the match, and if that was the case with me I'd be a little concerned as well. I've worked with Kirk since the FIRST Ozark match, I would trust him with ANYTHING/EVERYTHING I have.
  23. They ARE available. You can get a 3gun ready MKA for $1800, the only weak point we've found is the mags, which can EASILY be over come by tuning the feed lips. The factory mags are not real consistant , 2 problems , feed lips and the mag retension hole is too low on many causing them to not lock into place, also easily fixed. The factory is well aware of this problem, and are taking steps to fix the problem, not sure when the updated mags will hit the states, but they are working on the problem. We have been shooting the MKA for a while now, and have got, IMO, a VERY reliable platform. Another +, we can get ANY part, except a lower, not that there are any parts breaking. Warranty is EXCELLENT on the few problems that have come up on new guns. I know NOTHING about the Vepr
  24. I shoot open , I'd shoot HM, but I am NOT going to go backwards to 8-10 rnd mag, to me, that's the same as requiring HM to shoot a break action SG
