  1. Its going to be fun! I pulled out of the 3-gun match on Monday to get in some more practice. I'm going to do my best to give John B a hard time.
  2. I would have though that would make one of the end weights fall off, I'll have to try it. Thanks! It's gone through a couple different generations. The first ones are different than the current ones. The MGM ones are also different than Farley's design. Both of ours have the small slider weight in the middle. It easier to balance than the other design where you have to slide the end weight out little by little.
  3. ??? You read that correctly; autoforward or power stroke. Training scars or well trained-- you be the judge. I guess results vary, 13 years of shooting this and I've ALWAYS used the slide stop, never the over the top method where I chew up my hand on the rear sight. and this is the first time on all those years were I've heard the term "autoforward" for the slide closing when you slam home a mag. I guess I need to get away from the west coast more.

  5. Our club has had two for a few years and they get used all the time. If you're not using them you're short changing the club members because they will be seen at bigger matches. The more you shoot them the less intimidating they are. I'd like to see a 6 plate version. So how does this work or make reset faster?
  6. Hey Greg, See the little shiny spot in the lower left? Thats the mod so you can load out of battery. I haven't done the other, I've only heard about it. I really want to try it but if it causes an unfomfortable or dangerous situation I don't want to have to buy a $600 part to get it back to stock. How about I tell you what I was told and you can give it a shot?
  7. The guns cycle at nearly identical speeds, it just feels different due to the differet weights. The best gun will the be the one you shoot the most. I have both types, the short light one is now a dedicated steel gun because Major 9 out of a lightweight gun is harsh and uncomfortable for me. The full size gun is just as fast for transitions and more comfortable to shoot.
  8. Consult Forrest Gump. If I remember correctly, he is a rain expert. "We had rain from up above, sideways rain, and sometimes....we even had rain come from underneath!" FG You forgot "we been thru every kinda rain day is, little bitty stinging rain, big ol fat rain....

    Rear sight alinement

I have 4 Glocks all with Dawson sights, 3 are nearly dead center and one is noticably to the right. If it were me they would all be in the same place so it's got the be the machining of the block around the chamber. Looks wierd but it shoots fine.
  10. How light of a trigger can be achieved on one of these and still have them be dependable? I handled one done by Bob Marvel and it was amazing, I would say it broke at less than 2lbs. I've often though about sending mine to him.
  11. The elevation screw on my STI made Bomar style rear sight is stripped. It looks like the threads in the slide are ok. Does anybody know where to get a replacement screw? Thanks
  12. don't for get the hash browns and large Coke!
  13. found the right link http://dougkerr.net/pumpkin/articles/Aperture_Sight.pdf
  14. Another thumbs up for John's mount. http://www.allchingunparts.com/details.php?prodId=41&category=2&secondary=&keywords=
  15. My Dillon RF100 has been working like a champ for 6 years now and I don't have to do anything but dump the primers on the top, press the button and go back to loading.
  16. I have a 6MOA on my Limited rifle but only use it for the short stuff. I use the irons with a 300 zero for the long stuff but then Limited is not really my thing for 3-Gun
  17. I've put this up before but I think it's still relevant. I have 1 SV and 2 STI's in 9mm and 10 140mm and 3 170mm mags with a mix of springs, followers and basepads (no spacers) and they all work in all my guns. I'd suggest you try out stock mags first before going through all the tuning.
  18. One of the mods is to extend the slot in the bottom of the right side bolt that the shell lifter goes into. If you extend it all the way out to the end of the bolt you'll be able to load shells even if the bolt isn't fully in battery. The bolt mod I've been told about is to unshroud the firing pin on the botton of the bolt so that if the bolt is not fully in battery the hammer will still be able to contact the firing pin and set off the round.
  19. You can also take a dremel to the two opposing notches to reduce the tension on the carrier latch (shell stop) just don't go too far.
