  1. You could shoot it in USPSA, but with only 5 rounds, you will not place very well. It would be fun though, and give you plenty or reload practice. In USPSA, you make power factor in YOUR gun, not some one else's, so it might be tough in a short barrel. You can just shoot it minor with regular safe 9MM loads, have fun
  2. I agree that there are not enough revo shooters, but fret not, go after the CDP guys and beat them !!! It really ticks them off !!! Haha, be safe and have fun
  3. No need to wait for the invasion, come shoot a ZSA match and you get the best of both worlds!!! Shoot the gun you have and have fun and be safe. After a few matches and talking with the other shooters, you will understand the USPSA game better and can decide from there.
  4. This debate has been going on for a long time. I shoot them both, RO/SO both and support both. Both have their separate merits. If the question is "fun" , that is up to the shooter. Some have fun at either game. The comments as to the people, that makes the difference, good folks make for a good day. The topic or "rules" well anyone that knows me knows my views on that. The problem I see from most when it comes to IDPA, is not the rules per se, but how they are interpreted and enforced from squad to squad and shooter to shooter. For just about all the reasons stated already, that is the reason my wife Mel and I started ZSA a little over a year ago. Virtually no rules other than SAFETY, super simple scoring and SAFE COMPETITIVE FUN designed for the newer shooter is our goal. I tried to keep the fun of shooting, which is why we all do it, and not have 80 page rule books to have to adhere to and discuss on every stage. Bottom line, enjoy what you choose SAFELY and thank the MD's and staff at every match you attend, most folks don't know the amount of work that goes into setting and running a match. If you had a great time, let them know, if you saw something that could be improved, politely give some feedback, if there are some real jerks at a match, don't squad with them. And remember to thank God that you live in a Country that gives us a choice, while we still have it !!!!
  5. Nice breakdown !!! I've been toying with going minor for awhile, will try at a local and see how it pans out. Thanks for doing the math, that makes alot of sense, John
  6. We have ZSA matches all around the State, pistol only, rimfire 2 gun and 3 gun as well, look us up and join us
  7. Can bring some primers, powder and Berrys bullets to SC Section match if anyone needs some, just PM me, thanks
  8. Just as Cliff was about to enter the Presidential race, this crap comes back up !!!!
  9. Good point Richard, I am trimming .38 spec brass to .809" and they work great with 158 Gr. Berrys, but with my Cast 195 Grs. (Lyman mold) they do bulge a tad. A quick run in the "Lee" factory crimp/resize die fixes that. It only seems to be bad with Remington .38 Brass, I use only Federal now and have no problems at all, great load, very accurate and NO recoil
  10. Not sure, can't do the 10th, I am teaching a class, but maybe one of the others we can make. We will have to see, would love to shoot with Bob, maker of the finest revo stuff!!!
  11. If schedule permits, count me in, should be able to bring a few revos from the Raleigh, NC area, Zombie shooters love us some round guns !!! At least the cool ones do !!
  12. When will we ever see this match on the Right Coast??? Would love to shoot the match, just can't afford the travel expense to cross the Country, how 'bout an East Coast IRC ???
  13. About to play with some loads, I usually use Clays for all my revo stuff, anyone use Clays with Berrys 158 round nose? I'm going to try some and chrono and accuracy test by the end of the week. I'll post what I find out for everyone.
  14. very cool congrats to my revo sister !!! Miss shooting with you both. Join us at SVDFI in April for the ZSA Va. State Championship match, our first State level!! Apps are on the website www.zombieshootersassociation.com, hope all is well, John

  15. I find Titegroup to be an accurate powder, but it seems to burn hot for me, no problem for Steel Challange or IDPA, but a longer field course in USPSA or ZSA and the cylinder gets pretty hot, just my experience.
  16. With all due respect to Daniele and Sasha, I would never recommend attempting to make IPSC major with short colt brass, and particularly not with heavy bullets. You're talking some serious pressures, guys. I am guessing that some of the Euro wheelgunners are compelled to try that stuff because they don't have access to bigger caliber guns. If you are able to purchase a .45 or 10mm revolver, there is no good reason to screw around trying to make major with short colts and risk blowing the gun apart. Thanks Mike, I was just wondering, will stick to minor and "Alphas" appreciate the warning
  17. I have cast some 195 gr rn, what powder did you use to make major Daniele? I was thinking of trying it in my 4" 686 that I just had milled for moonclips, thanks
  18. Leave it alone, just like in USPSA, leave revo alone. We are a small but happy group. I started ZSA so people could shoot WHATEVER they want (as long as it's safe) in 6, 8, 15 or 24 divisions (max loaded at any one time) so the 7 & 8 shot revos can play in 8 division, Glocks and M&P's can play in 15 or 24, or download and play in 8 if you want reload practice. Leave the standing games(USPSA and IDPA) alone, as they are they are fine. Want a change of pace? Fine, come have some fun with ZSA, that's why it's there, leave IDPA and USPSA as they are, compete within the rules of each, and if you are not good enough, practice more.
  19. I'd say you have too little data to form a conclusion. Check out the results from several national championships & postal matches for a more meaningful comparison. I agree with DWFAN & lugnut. Glad to see that some folks witnessed it, us virginia boys werent invited (probably because we shoot CDP and are so good lookin). Had to add the last part to keep the thread on track and not get closed by the mods. Mel is a very nice classy lady and John sure married up! You are always invited brother, Semper Fi (you just don't want to drive 2 hours to get beat by a round gun)!!!!
  20. Be careful... there are some that shoot in the "Cowboy Classes" that will kick ass with a semi auto as well. I agree though.. that was funny! Good point, some of us "Cowboys" do it with the "Cowboy" guns, really not too hard to beat all of you with the "Sir Miss Alot" guns !!!!! And we don't get procedurals for forgetting how to count to 11.
  21. Well... In addition to being better looking, taller, having women swoon over us, people begging to give us money, we skinny gun guys are the stuff to be. It doesn't hurt to have "THE" gun. Flame suit on... Oh please Ed, the "real" guns are round and have only 6 .45's making major in them at a time, and we get chicks as well !!! Have not seen you in too long, get your Devil Dog butt to our VA State ZSA "ZAG" Championship Match in April at SVDFI
  22. What OAL and power factor? Thanks. COL is 1.265" with a power factor of 167-169 out of 4" 625 JM. They are very accurate and don't lead too bad at all. My alloy is 15-15.5 BH and I use the "Lee" Alox lube. Yes they are sticky and smoke a little, but since I cast them myself, can't beat the price.
  23. I cast 230 lrn in Lee mold over 4.1 clays and crimp the crap out of 'em, with hand seated Fed primers
