  1. I'm another one of those newbies. I mainly just sit back and try to learn from this great group of shooters. That being said, I have a few things I would like to post for sale here but refuse to spam out msgs just to get my post count up to the point where I can sell. I have bought a couple of items off the sight and have have nothing but rave reviews for the sellers.
  2. Not today, you won't... Forgot about that right up to the point of pulling into the parking lot.
  3. The brass isn't going anywhere. The brass in the neck of the case is just not getting pulled forward like on a die with an expander ball.
  4. I don't but you just made up my mind on where I'm going for lunch!
  5. Best wishes to your Mother Dear, Brian. I will be keeping you and yours in my prayers.
  6. It really depends on your direction of approach to the port. If you can come straight at the port, I would shoot T1 as I was coming into the port. If coming at the port from an angle I would go into the port to shoot T2 first and hit T1 as I was exiting. There could be some advantage to shooting T2 last if exiting the port and moving left (right handed shooter). Like Nik said, gotta see it in 3D to be sure.
  7. On my nightstand is my G35 loaded with 16 165gr Golden Sabers. My bedroom is upstairs and I'm more comfortable with the handgun in the tight stairwell. If I'm worried and/or need to leave the house, my FAL stoked with 155gr Hornady TAP. Gotta love a 155gr varmint bullet!
  8. The mag capacity would be your only downfall. I would think you would be much better suited using it in Limited-10
  9. I know how hard it is to have to shoot your neighbors dog just because they are too stupid or arrogant to control their dog. I had to kill my pastors dog when I was in highschool because he refused to keep his dog controlled for the 2 hours I needed to water my cattle. He called the Sherrif on me and was promptly told that he should have let me water my cattle.
  10. I'll add that if you are using caffene on a regular basis, make sure you are drinking extra water. The effects of dehydration are first noticed in the eyes. You will have a decrease in your visual acuity with a very slight level of dehydration. I see many shooters here in the Phoenix area shoot without water handy. I bring at the least 2 gallons for a full day match in the winter here and add 2 or 3 gatoraides in the summer.
  11. If only I didn't work weekends... I really wish I could make it. You put on a great shoot Scott.
  12. When I started shooting, I wasn't sure what the heck I was supposed to be looking for on the walkthrough. After my second stage, one of the more experienced shooters grabbed me and had me do the walk through with him. He then explained exactly what he was thinking and concentrating on while we went through all of the stages. Best education I've received at a match. While I'm not at that point in my shooting and planning ability to help that much, I always try to help out those that look more lost than I do. I'm also outspoken enough that I will follow up with those shooters that jump the line even if it isn't in front of me.
  13. Welcome! I'm sure some of the other guys will be along shortly with all sorts of advice for ya.
  14. I lift weights in the evenings 3 days per week and do cardio 2-4 days per week first thing in the morning. I have found that if I lift hard in the mornings I'm useless for a couple hours afterward. I lift in the evenings so that I can clear my mind of all the issues and concerns from my day and just focus on the iron. I don't have to worry about needing energy to focus on work afterwards either. Nothing like one all out set of deadlifts or squats to clear your worries away.
  15. If I was going to use only one weight in my FAL it would be the 155gr A-Max or anyone's 155gr Palma. I haven't won the lottery yet so I use South African surplus (147gr) for anything out to 200 yards and switch to the 155's once I really have to work at distance. Both loads shoot close to the same point of aim out to 250 yards. The 155's are much more accurate for the longer shots. I need all the help I can get out past 300 yards with the open sights.
  16. Are you looking for added capacity or just extra length and weight? I can only speak to the Arredondo (sp?) +5/6 basepads that I have had great luck with and they are plastic. I can regularly get 20 reloadable in my G35 with the older style mags, 19 reloadable with the new tapered mags. I know there are +0 brass basepads out there to add weight and a little extra length but someone else will have to comment on those.
  17. I've ran the 185g RN SWC for 1911 from Laser Cast all the way out to 1.155 before. Basically seating this bullets shoulder flush with the case mouth. I've never had an issue with these in my G35 with a Lone Wolf bbl. I had a thousand of these sitting around from a previous project and decided to use them up. Then again, I only use these for practice (just in case). In my competition loads, I stay in the 1.135 to 1.140 range.
  18. In college, I shot with a guy that had MS. He used one of those rascal scooters and mounted his holster to the basket on the front. His hands shook badly and we all worried that he wouldn't hit a thing. He had his timing down though and was fairly accurate (more so than some of the hosers!). He was a huge inspriation to me at the time. I still think of him every time I have some small nagging injury that I try to use as an excuse to not train or compete.
  19. You could set up with two targets with a hard cover between them so that you have only body shots for the front target and a head shot for the other. Just requires two hits on the head shot as well.
  20. I'm sorry for your loss Flex. Remember all the great things about your Father during this time of grief. Matt
  21. I wished a coworker a happy Independence Day today and they asked me what I meant. So sad that the meaning of this most important holliday is slowly being lost on the masses.
  22. More likely than a shot out barrel is that the locking surfaces on on the hood ov the barrel have loosened up. I have around 30,000 rounds through my G35 and it still shoots under 3" at 25 yards if I can do my part. Try pushing down on the barrel at the chamber with a loaded round in the gun. If you get much movement then that is probably the issue.
  23. Recoil was a bit more than "snappy". I no longer use that load. The locking block would actually flex in the frame and caused damage to the bottom of the slide. Granted, I shot around 5,000 170pf loads during that time through the gun but I'm convinced that these caused most of the damage. I had a G22 that I put nearly 25,000 rounds through before trading into the G35 and didn't have nearly as much wear. Guess there might be a reason Hodgens reduced the max load from 12.0 gr to 11.5 gr after all.
  24. I ran 11.8gr of Longshot behind the 135gr Nosler out of my G35 with a 6" Lone Wolf bbl as a coyote load for a while. It ran right at 1550 fps and was absolutely devastating. Darn sure let you know you weren't shooting factory loads!
