Hi all. This is my first post here and just wanted to relate a tale for all of us to remember to stay focused while reloading. I've been shooting for several years and just got my father started into action pistol shooting this past year. He is an avid hunter and rifle shooter/reloader. I sent him off with a set of .45 dies and several thousand cases and 200gr LSWC's to get him started. I recommended a load of 5.3grns of Win 231 that had always given me good results. In his excitement to get started he made a mistake. He set his scale at 5grns and then counted out 3 more. Yep, 3grns instead of .3grns.
Thankfully both he and his shiny new Kimber CDP Pro are just fine and he only loaded 100 of those. He has a Ruger Blackhawk with the .45 ACP conversion cylinder so he doesn't have to pull them all apart. Even after 40+ years of reloading, we can all make mistakes. Hope we can all learn from this, I know he has.
