  1. I agree, and really want to know where this (dumb) new rule came from.
  2. So I recently received an e-mail for the USPSA 2019 Presidential Election and have a question. https://uspsa.org/bylaws for anyone who check themselves. You have to be a citizen to be eligible to vote according to By-law 6.3 as amended on 5/3/2018. I couldn't find this requirement in an older version of the bylaws (2013) and want to know where it came from. I can't find a record of this change in the BOD minutes: https://uspsa.org/documents/minutes/20180501.pdf I don't agree with this requirement for a number of reasons and it gives me other concerns as well. How is USPSA checking my citizenship status? I've never provided any of this information to them nor do I care to. Are they running independent background checks I didn't authorize? Are they providing this information to a third-party without my knowledge? Why isn't voting open to permanent residents? Permanent residents are permitted to purchase guns in the US and be USPSA members, do they not get a say in how our organization runs? Area 2 and Area 4 probably have a greater proportion of USPSA members ineligible to vote due to this new rule. Who would I contact within USPSA to bring up these concerns?
  3. I haven't seen the English version, but the Korean version blew me away. Here's your three minutes in one take: I
  4. Have you seen Old Boy? That was a masterpiece of revenge film with some excellent fight scenes, including one 3-minute single take through a hallway. Have to read subtitles though.
  5. They were offering a special it seems Buy 1 - 1000 and pay only $3,899.98 each
  6. How many times are you shooting the plate?
  7. I've only shot Production and Single Stack. Started in 2009. These are listed in order of purchase with some notes on how they're set up and how much they're shot. In Production all my pistols have been treated to the CZ Custom Shop tune-up. CZ 75 Pre-B, which I used from 2009 - 2013 or so. Sold it prior to moving to South America in 2014. CZ Shadow 2 is what I currently shoot best. I picked it up when I got back to the States and it's seen about 7000 rounds. Glock 34 gen 4 MOS that I got a good deal on and is my only striker fired gun. I haven't competed with it, nor do I have real plans to. CZ 75 Shadow (SKU 91762), a pair I just purchased to try and recreate the Pre-B handling. Not sure whether I'll use them or the S2 going forward. In Single Stack there's not a ton of variation Springfield Armory .45, which ran reliably for me with Wilson 47DEs and the steel SVI magwell. Really enjoyed the Marvel Unit 1 kit I had for this at one point. Sold it two years ago because I stopped reloading 45. Caspian .40 that I've half assembled. It's been put on hold until I have some more permanent workshop space. STI Hex Tac in 9mm is picky about ammo fed to it and sees very little match time. Started out wearing the XL Techwell, but now everything is Dawson Ice. I wanted a railed tri-topped 9mm when I bought it. Springfield Armory 9mm/40, a nicely assembled two barrel affair I bought off this forum. My girlfriend likes it a lot and now all my 1911's have the 19-20 grips from DS Perman. STI Trojan .40 gets shot with factory ammo when I've forgotten to reload before a match. Major PF is nice at times too. Using Wilson 9rd .40 mags. I've also owned a CZ TS which had been tuned by CZ Custom. My sister really enjoyed this pistol but I never bought the holster and mag pouches to shoot Limited. There's a CZ Kadet wearing a C-more that comes out of the safe sometimes when I'm instructing older shooters with poor eyesight. It's seen some .22 steel matches.
  8. Here's a bit of math to put it in perspective. The S2 sights are 168 mm apart. The most you can really adjust the sights in any direction is about 3 mm. If you remember a bit of high school trig that's an angle of Tan(-) = (3/168) or just a fraction over 1 degree. If we extend that 1 degree worth of adjustment out to three yards, the most you can move the bullet by adjusting the sights Tan(1.024) * distance = 1.92 inches. If your shots are any more than 2 inches off the bulls-eye at 3 yards then there's no way it can be corrected by moving the sights.
  9. Most of the competitions represented here on BEnos are broken down by division. The CZ TS(O)/2011 and Shadow 2 are guns for different divisions and compete on different playing fields so the comparisons aren't exactly fair. The S2 is arguably one of the best Production division guns out there. The TS(O) is decent/competitive but objectively not the preferred choice for Limited. Production and Limited are scored differently in both Steel Challenge and USPSA. When you say you want to go to the next level of performance, what are your performance metrics and constraints? Here's an abbreviated table of Steel Challenge peak times that will help you compare. The TS(O)/2011 and S2 are held to different standards. Abbrev. SC-101 SC-102 SC-103 SC-104 SC-105 SC-106 SC-107 SC-108 LTD 13.0 10.0 10.0 14.0 11.0 13.0 13.0 10.0 PROD 13.5 10.5 10.5 14.5 11.5 13.5 13.5 10.5 RFPI 11.0 9.5 8.5 13.0 10.0 12.0 11.5 9.0 SS 13.5 10.5 10.5 14.5 11.5 13.5 13.5 10.5 The S2 will probably be more reliable than your budget 2011 platform. At least my S2 eats everything, even case gauge rejects, while my STI 1911 is more selective. I've owned a custom shop CZ TS, and found it's SAO performance not much different than an tuned Shadow's SA performance. I don't think I could tell the difference between a custom shop S2 and custom shop TS under time pressure if both were the same caliber. I've rarely shot 2011s but my 1911s all wear DS Perman grips and I still occasionally struggle to activate the grip safety. I shoot the CZs about 10% better on a given stage, but that's probably all related to time behind the gun. If you're going to shoot at an IDPA club your 2011 will need a bushing barrel, e.g. STI Eagle. I'm not sure if the S2 is light enough for IDPA. If you're shooting with a USPSA affiliated club then a 9mm 2011 is a disadvantage and the S2 about top-of-the-line, but again in different Divisions. Ultimately you'll shoot better with which ever inspires you to practice more. Practice will make more difference than the gun. If it takes an "upgrade" to a 2011 to inspire practice then the transition will be worth it.
  10. He just means for every 3 Mark 7s sold two 1050s enter the used market.
  11. Lots of options. I generally shoot the southern and southeastern matches. There are more north of the city I'm not that familiar with Area 59 is a range to the Southwest which hosts a couple clubs: http://area59.us/ . You'll have First, Second, and Fourth Saturday's available there. Once a month there's a match in Galveston directly south: https://www.galvestonrpc.com/competitions-1.html
  12. I'm guessing it's a Novak cut, but measure it just to be sure. If that's the case there are a good number of companies that make adjustable replacements, e.g. Dawson, Warren, Novak themselves, LPA, etc. I prefer fixed sights and maybe buying a replacement if necessary once I find a load, but to each their own.
  13. Yeah, there was this whole generation pushing for participation trophies so their kids didn't feel left out, and now they have the audacity to turn around and collectively blame the now-grown kids for it.
  14. Compete with Shadow 2 or in Single Stack. On the rare occasions I do carry it's a CZ PCR or S&W 442, depending on weather/clothing etc. I've never needed a gun in public, and have only 2-3 times been so much as comforted by its presence.
  15. Easily B. Even though I don't put lots of effort into modifying my guns beyond good sights and trigger, I think it makes the division more accessible. I also want the plastic fantastic guns to be competitive and the 2019 rules go a long ways towards parity with the Tanfoglios/CZs. I like 10 too. It makes the game more strategic, IMHO. It's a new option so of course it must be a game-changing advantage /s. I've known lots of limited guys to take their thumb rests off because the sights don't track straight. I think it'll be preference more than anything and my preference is the gun I'm already shooting.
  16. I assume you're shooting outdoors, in which case 06-03 Can You Count is nice. I most regularly shoot at an indoor match which is a little more limiting. Some of the more interesting/fun classifiers I remember are 13-05 Tick Tock ,which has a mandatory reload off the table 06-05 Fluffy's Revenge 2, which uses two poppers and IPSC targets 09-07 It's Not Brain Surgery, which starts seated at table and is head shots only 03-08 Madness, where you need to slow down before you can speed up again Looking back over them it seems I like classifiers that reward discipline. If you're reckless you'll zero them, but with a little care the percentage comes out okay.
  17. I think this is a neat idea. Who knows. In 10 years we might be attending matches that are 80% Limited and Carry Optics and want a consolidated lo-cap division. I think SS struck good balance between major and minor wrt capacity limits. @lstange has a nice data set showing maybe a 4-5% advantage to 8rd major over 10rd minor in the mid-pack, but that's within my daily variability anyways. I started practical shooting with Rio Salado's Tuesday Night Steel and still see that as a fun and excellent introduction to the sport before the more nuanced rules of USPSA. If I were running my own unaffiliated match it'd be structured similarly with only three divisions: optical sights and 170mm mags, iron sights and 140mm mags, and a 8/10 round division with belt restrictions. Back on topic, As primarily a Production shooter, I'm not too concerned about the peDal. I think it will make little difference to someone's actual performance and I'm glad people can tinker with and tune their guns under a rule set that isn't too restrictive. I'm also glad Production is still only 10 rounds and would prefer it stay that way: the puzzle aspect of stage breakdown is rewarding and challenging. Clarity in the rules and consistency in how they are applied is ultimately more important to me than where the line is drawn.
  18. I found it boring too. Glad someone else paid for my ticket and I wouldn't recommend it. There is some weird product placement from Kimber and STI. Keanu's shotgun reloads looked really good, but I wish they would have taught some (any) technique to other actors. Halle Berry variously uses a Zev glock 34/17/19 with and without a red dot through one fight scene. It was distracting that the gun kept changing. At other times they were weirdly specific about the gun mentioned in the scene: a 7 round Kimber, a STI in 9mm major shooting 124gr at 1400+ fps... I rolled my eyes a lot.

    Cz shadow 2 or tso

The STI Trojan isn't legal for Production and is a disastrously poor choice for Limited. I think you're asking the wrong internet forum for advice. Everything here is colored by USPSA competition, and if that's not your interest, then the advice won't be well aligned with your needs. The S2 is a great Production gun and the 9mm TSO a less than mediocre Limited gun. And both put the same size holes in a piece of paper at about the same rate. I don't mean to be harsh or dismissive, but I'm not sure you have enough experience for this decision to be very consequential. Sure you'll be emotionally invested in one pistol vs the other, but I doubt it'll make any difference to your ability to shoot quickly or accurately. Maybe the emotional investment is what you need to practice more, but then it's the practice that will make the difference, not the gun. I like limited capacity divisions and my opinion is somewhat colored by this love of the extra challenge: I would keep the S2 and buy a Dillon SDB in 9mm for $450 and start reloading. 6000 rounds later the press will have paid for itself, you'll probably be B-class or higher in Production, and you'll be more invested in the sport with more experience to make this decision on your own.
  20. Not suitable as a long-term range improvement, but I've mounted this beach umbrella to my Creedmoor service rifle stool / cart. It works in a pinch if you're looking for some personal shade and can travel with you to other matches. https://www.amazon.com/Sport-Brella-Versa-Brella-Midnight-Blue-Universal/dp/B01KVX3192/
  21. I have used Techwell but now all my SS guns have Dawson Ice magwells. I didn't change for any perceived advantage. I just bought a couple pistols with the Ice already installed and wanted to be consistent. When using the Techwell I had the fat smooth aluminum grips and covered them in skateboard tape. It felt really good. I also tried the thin G10 aggressive grips but felt it made the gun too narrow. I think width is more important than texture for me getting a good grip on the gun.
  22. Not sure what you mean by this. A Les Baer 40 was sold on these forums last year. I remember because I was sorely tempted to buy it.
  23. That's a really cool graph, but could you explain EDCF for me or at least define it? ________ Cumulative Distribution Function? And since it's a sigmoid, is it much trouble to plot it as a distribution? That might be more familiar to some of us.
  24. My first match was scored on paper before we had nice records kept on Practiscore. But I like to keep my own records though to show how [little] I'm improving. It was the last weekend of July at Rio Salado, 2009 with the Hosemasters group. I was shooting Production with a CZ pre-B I had picked up at a gun show for $400; my second center fire pistol ever. I came in 68 of 75 overall at 27.8%. Dead last in my division of 18 shooters at 30%. We also shot a classifier that morning, 99-08 which I earned a HF of 3.63. This was under the old High Hit Factors so it earned me 45% for a C. Today that'd be a 38.6% classifier for a D.
  25. @IHAVEGAS linked to this match earlier, which may be a good proxy for LoCap Nats: https://practiscore.com/results/new/78817 It was described as a hose-fest though. I didn't shoot it so I can't really say. The first half of the video is the HOA shooting minor SS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-Zo_kZFQlw
