  1. I recently put a new koenigg hammer, s-7 sear, and colt sear spring into my old series-one Kimber. Now, all of the sudden, I'm getting hammer follow and I had a double at a match last weekend. I'm looking for ideas on what to look for as a cause for this. Something tells me (just based on logic, nothing i've noticed) that there is an issue with the disconector. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks much, Dave
  2. Yeah, that'll do it. you can try polishing the middle sear spring prong and the disconnector where they contact. It likely won't fix it though.
  3. I'm interested how this could happen unless you have no half-cock notch...
  4. That could fix it, but it may just mask the real problem for a while. Find someone who know's what they are doing, have them look at it, and try to get as much knowledge out of him as you can.
  5. This actually works for me as well. I think I may start trying it at local matches.
  6. I'm not sure if it's more difficult or completely impossible. The only way I can get any sight resolution with both eyes open is to focus beyond the front sight, or even on the target. The sight picture I get from this isn't good enough for any precise aiming. Although it does work well enough at close range, and even feels fast, I really never use that technique.
  7. So I'm almost 4 years into shooting USPSA and I still can't get front sight focus with both eyes wide open. I either use a piece of frosted tape over my weak eye, or use a half squint in my weak eye to get rid of the ghost. Usually I just use the tape though. Some people say that it is a skill that takes time to learn, but I have played with it quite a bit and can't get it. When I do any of the dominant eye/weak eye tests, it always seems that I really don't have a dominant eye...they're both fairly even. Here's my question: Doesn't it make sense that unless one's weak eye is significantly weaker, there will always be a ghost? After all, isn't that one of the reasons we have two eyes: to see around things (in this case a rear sight). ...or am I missing something? Thanks for the help, Dave
  8. Here's place number 79. Who would think that we'd finish with the exact same score down to a 0.0000 point difference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-GyGycuCZE&feature=youtu.be
  9. I wouldn't call Paleo a fad diet. There's science and common sense behind it. Eating lean meat, seafood, vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds is solid nutrition... It also happens to be the same as a diet that appears to be a fad at a glance. There are constantly increasing numbers of doctors and athletes that swear by it. As for simple carbs vs complex carbs (white vs whole grain)... polysaccharides are all sugar by the time they get into the blood stream. Get the most nutrition from your carbs as you can, ie fruits and vegetables +1 on the organic not being much different as far as fruits and veggies go, but there is a serious benefit to grass fed beef or better yet, venison.
  10. If one pop tart is falling off the wagon for you, I'd say you're doing pretty good! Cutting down on other polysaccharides will help a lot with whatever your fitness goal are and will (eventually, after a few weeks) help mitigate cravings for other insulin spiking foods like sugars.
  11. you'll really have to elaborate on your misalignment and extent thereof.
  12. When did Ruger start putting 1911 style grips on the 22/45? Mine came with flat sides that I had to drill into to put grips on it.
  13. Okay, After thinking for a minute...Is something keeping the sear from moving? Make sure the trigger is free to move and that the new disconnector is allowing the sear to move freely.
  14. Do you have the sear spring in? If so, take it out. Sometimes it take a bit more force and wiggling than you'd want to subject your gun to.
  15. +1 on the power rack. Much more versatile than a dedicated rack just for squats.
  16. There wasn't a change in paypal policy for everyone....just for those that don't make them any money I think.
  17. I'd like to just stop using it, but it is way too convenient. I've done about 100 transactions in the last month....Imagine all the checks, money orders, and trips to the post office. I'll have to see if my bank will do transfers with just an email and last 4 of an account number like DWFAN said.
  18. I just received some $ for an item and was able to immediately withdraw the $. The email I got said that my account was pinned as being at a high risk for a dispute. I've never had one in 8 years, but somehow I'm at high risk. I think they just got mad that I do so many free transactions and always transfer money out right away....they want the interest....they got rid of the money market a while back, or I might keep a small balance.
  19. I've always found paypal convenient, easy, safe, and free (If one uses it right). I know, I know, paypal is anti-gun, blah blah blah. But if I don't make them any money through fees of interest on my balance, I'm not really helping them in any way. The post office is also anti-gun and every time I buy a money order from them, I'm making them money. Anyways... I just got an email from paypal saying that all payments made to my account will be held for 21 days so that disputes can be settled more easily. WTF??? I've never had a problem with any transaction in the 8 years I've had paypal. Now all of the sudden they want to hold onto my money for almost a month. I don't even have access to it for shipping purposes. What a stupid policy. I get where they're coming from since I get/send fee free payments almost exclusively and immediately remove the money from paypal, but I don't think I'll be using it nearly as much anymore. I've heard talk that Ebay demanding the use of paypal as payment is "monopolistic" behavior... I don't know how I'd feel about the government getting in there to break it up. Thanks for listening to my rant. Objections/suggestions (on free alternatives) accepted through PM. Dave
  20. 23 lbs in a 9mm 1911??? Seems extremely heavy. +1 on what TwoDown said. I recently had a problem with a friends 9mm spartan not setting off tula factory ammo with a 15lb ISMI mainspring. A 17lb wolff spring fixed that problem very well. Unless you're running strictly federal primers, don't bother with the 15lb spring. Your felt recoil will be noticeably smaller with a lighter mainspring. Good luck.
  21. I didn't want to spend the money to make kettlebells either. I made one out of a basketball filled with lead(wheel weights) and concrete. A piece of conduit pipe and a rope set in the concrete makes a nice handle. It works and sure beats paying all that money just for a piece of dead weight to lift up and down. Good luck with your recovery. The guy who got me into kettlebells tore his bicep and couldn't get it fixed in time for it to recover...He does without that half of his bicep. He's in his 50's and in phenomenal shape. Don't let it hold you back!
  22. That's not good. Springfield will likely come through on the warranty. Other companies might just accuse you of not replacing the recoil spring or some BS like that, but you should be fine with Springfield.
