Your H buffer is a carbine length, you will need a rifle length buffer. Bummer. I knew you couldn't use a rifle buffer in a carbine tube as it was too long, but thought the opposite was ok. Evidently not, so it's off to order the JP Low Mass Rifle buffer..... Before you order the JP, you can buy a regular rifle buffer and remove the steel weights and replace them with something like a a length of delrin rod. Mine came out to 2.9 oz and much easier on the wallet. My money is on the slide lock spring being in wrong. See it all the time on Glocks. There should be a lot of tension on the slide lock lever. If not it just flops around and keeps locking the slide.

I have several friends with custom 2011s and tuned STI or SVI mags. The tuned mags work without modification and are 100% reliable. I have the target model-51680 I think the issue is that all mags are not to the same specs and might require some fitting. Dawson has a video and tools for this meant for STI frames. Most tubes out of the box are a bit too wide from the mag catch to the top of the tube I was in a shop yesterday going through different STI/SVI mags and some were very close - others not so much. If you want to run those mags its probably best to send the gun to a smith for fitting.

Stiffest to weakest: DAA CR Scorpion no experience with the BT too much sag in the scorpion for any weight.

Ken, Is that .350 back and front or .350 back and a bit wider at fron ( like STI Specs)? I've been using STIs primarily and with tuned mags even with lightened recoil spring reliability is there. My mecgars, paras are another story . I was planning on tuning them at a later date. Thanks for the info

Will that fit a versamax?

Those are for 22tcm/9mm or 9mm models with factory magwell- 51679/51947. the feedlips are modified for the 22tcm but work with 9mm also. it should fit yours.

That's the pad that is on the 20rnd preban para mags. It will fit the mecgars. it will not fit the models without the factory magwell without reducing the top It should fit the models with factory magwells without mods but as I do not have one I cannot confirm

The only ones that have been 100% are STI/SVI for me I have 4 or 5 from the above link. Nosedives galore initially I have 2 that work now after opening the feed lips and replacing mag springs with Wolff. There is also a trick using a9/64 drill bit to deepen the feed groove. i have not tried that The new Para 18.9 mags were even worse and supposedly they are also mecgar

I was with another friend today who shoots a Custom 2011 9mm. His mags fit my 51680 with no issue and functioned 100% (i do have a different mag catch) Of course his were tuned. i should have more details over the weekend.

I understood that. Im interested in why STI seem to work in the models with magwell versus ones without.

Perhaps just lenght width of top of frame?
