  1. Mine has been flawless. Bought it from the Canadian distributor. Great service from him.
  2. Jmorris, yes it did. But a quick update. Just finished tearing down the press, cleaning and re-greasing/oiling everything along with polishing everything I thought could use a polish. It seems to be working smoothly now, but would have liked to figure out exactly what was causing the hang-up. I think it may have had something to do with the fact that my lock ring assembly was pressing down on the shell plate just tight enough to restrict/retard the proper indexing of the shell plate. The tool head may have been slightly misaligned, just enough so that the indexing rod that aligns the primer slide was out of position enough to snag the primer punch. Just my theory, but when I operated the press in slow motion, that's what appeared to be happening. Once the tool head raised enough for the indexing rod to release pressure from the primer slide, the primer punch snapped down onto the rocker arm. polishing and greasing the bottom of the lock ring and top of shell plate has really smoothed up the indexing of the shell plate, even with the lock ring being in the same position (i.e. tightened down) as it was when it was giving me issues. For now it seems to be working properly again. I'll update if anything changes as I have to load up some ammo for upcoming matches.
  3. Thanks Doug. All springs appear in good condition, but I'll be ordering all new springs for the whole machine. I'm tearing it all down again and will try to see what might be causing the hangup.
  4. First off, Happy New Year. Recent development in my RL1050 that I can't trouble shoot on my own. Did a search and can't find anything similar to this. The timing of the priming system seems good from a primer feeding perspective, but when I raise the handle of the press, the primer punch hangs up in the primer feed/slide bar and snaps down once I get the handle to its full upright position. I cleaned the entire machine, polished the primer punch and corresponding hole in the slide bar, went in slow motion and determined that it is 100% NOT the tappet or rocker arm or bushing that screws into the press. I can't see or feel any burrs, and when I chucked the primer punch in my mill, to turn it and polish with 2000 grit sandpaper, there was no bend or run out in the punch. I made and placed a couple of spacers under the primer punch return spring to increase the spring pressure, to test if it was a weak spring. All it does is make the punch snap down harder, rattle the press and throw powder out of the cases in the shell plate. I don't recall ever forcing the machine in order to bend or take anything out of timing. I'm lost. Any ideas are appreciated. Paul
  5. I haven't done so but know a couple guys who place their ammo in their ammo box, bullet down, and dab nail polish on the primers. Quick wipe before it dries and it creates a ring/seal around the primer and removes all excess. Essentially gluing them in place. I may give it a shot at some point.
  6. I don't know the rules to this type style of competition, but do you have to dismount the gun when moving between boxes? As Mr Kelly, mentioned, second box setup is eating up some of your time. And it looks like it is because you are reacquiring your mount and sight alignment. For two or three steps, I would personally keep the gun on my shoulder and be aiming at the next target as I enter the box.
  7. This was a fun match. Well worth the drive from the great white north. Looking forward to the next one (and hopefully another helping of pulled pork...Todd knows what he's doing) My video. Was totally drained by the end of the day, but happy with the results.
  8. I bought a PalFiller earlier this year after hearing mixed results with the quality and durability of the Vibraprime. All I can say is this thing is awesome. the quality of this thing is so far superior to the viraprime, its not even a comparison. Did a marathon reloading session a week or so ago, loaded 5k rounds on my 1050, and the palfiller performed perfectly. Between the 1050 and the Palfiller, I think I'm set.
  9. Can someone please do me a huge favor. Which way does the ring on the piston face? I mean is the knurled edge of the ring towards the front of the piston or the rear? Like a dummy I took it apart without making a note of which way it was oriented. Thanks in advance Paul
  10. Nice shooting. Quick question for you. On stage 3, what method did you use to load the extra shell into your shotgun once you started using it. you must have done it when the RO was blocking the vid cause I counted 9 shots plus one that you racked out at the very beginning before going dry. Its was pretty fast.
  11. The entire match requires 8 rounds of buck shot. I'm sure its not the end of the world that flight control is not allowed (as stupid as that rule is) Just find something that patterns reasonably tight out of your gun because that stage looks to have a tight penalty target.
  12. There are a number of us coming down from Canada for this match, A good number from Russia as well. Really looking forward to it. Its not every day I get a chance to try and keep up with the worlds best.
  13. And hope next year they bring in XL sized shirts!! I was part of the Canadian contingent that made it down for the second year. I was happy with the match, even though my day 2 started out a little rougher than I would have hoped. Likely due to Chad making fun of my "golf attire" and videoing me crash and burn stage 10. Chad, you show that to anyone and I'll slap you next time I see you!!!! I'll agree that I would have liked a little less running for the sake of running, but loved the stages and thought they were a big improvement from last year. Felt a lot less like shooting a plate rack every stage, and stage planning took a much bigger role this time around. I'll continue to drive the 12 hours to attend. Huge thanks to the RO's for the effort they put in, to Joe and the stats ladies for all the behind the scenes work and Katie, Trapr, Kurt for getting soaked at the clinic to share their knowledge with us. And of course the sponsors who give generously to make these matches what they are.
  14. Cool vid. Loved the safety disclosure at the beginning. I picked up a manual mill last year and learning how to use it. The long term goals are to convert it to CNC. Hopefully in the next couple years. This thread is pretty inspiring and I'm picking up quite a bit of info. Thanks to everyone who shared their input. Will continue to follow this and learn along the way.
  15. Yes sir. And hopefully a few more.
  16. Nice looking gear. Jealous you are able to hit the range. Mine has a couple feet of snow right now. Hope to see you at a few matches this year. Good luck at the qualifier. Paul from Canada
  17. What is shown is just one method. Could you replace the rivet with a screw so yo can remove the limiter and be legal? That's where you have to learn what is acceptable in the state you are in. removable spacer, dowel limiting follower travel, etc, all accomplish the same thing. Just have to look at the wording of your laws. In Canada, the wording is such that a "permanent" method of restricting the mag capacity is required. Its been common practice to use aluminum pop rivets.
  18. As mentioned, the spacer is a strip of material that limits the travel of the follower so you can't get the 11th round in. In the pictures above, it is a strip of aluminum. That's how I bought it here in Canada, and is an approved method to our authorities. I'd assume its good to go for any US authorities, but you would have to check with yours to be sure. The one in the picture is about 2 1/4" long, looks to be a 1/8" thick flat bar, wide enough to fit the back of the magazine. In order to do any maintenance to the magazine, you will have to drill out the pop rivet to get the follower out, replace any parts you need to, and the rivet it all back together. Welcome to the wonderful world of capacity restrictions.
  19. One method: Drill a hole at a low point of the mag body, Install a spacer strip that limits the travel of the follower to only allow 10 rounds, Pop rivet the spacer to the mag body. Pictured here is a 140mm 9/38 sti mag.
  20. Is the official website up and registration open? Yes, I'm looking forward to this match.
  21. I'm guessing at this point you guys aren't differentiating semi/pump divisions? Just a run what you brung division? As D_ mentioned, if you find a 3.5" chambered platform that you like, you can plug the extension so it just barely doesn't get that 6th 3.5" shell in the tube. That way you are still legal and you can hold more 2 3/4 But if you are going pump, I'll give one more vote for a nova/supernova.
  22. LOL Its not a Ferrari but there's a horse and I have just as much ground clearance. Maybe I'll raise it a couple inches to be safe. Benefits of coil over suspension. Worst case scenario, I high side it somewhere and I'm in trooper class.
