  1. Just noticed that your mag release is a cut down piece of brass. Pretty cool. Hopefully my build will look half as good as yours when I'm done
  2. Its too bad the laws are the way they are. I'm in Canada and have to jump through hoops to try and get most things out of the US. You can export firearms and parts but need the appropriate paperwork and in many cases have to go through an FFL. What you can ship on your own without any issue or paperwork is equipment such as range bags, belts, holster, mag pouches/shell caddies, reloading equipment (not components).
  3. Thanks for the info. Definitely helps. Have most the parts, actually waiting on the glock! Should have it in the next week or so and then I get to start playing. We'll see how creative I can get with a mill but as for topping that paint job, don't think its possible.
  4. I don't know the first thing about computational fluid dynamics, but if I were to guess I would say fast powder loads would need a comp with smaller ports, and probably fewer. Less powder = less gas, so I'd think you want smaller ports to create a more powerful pulse of upwards gas to act upon your muzzle. Its like putting your finger in front of a slow running hose of water. the more you constrict it, the more velocity the water escaping has due to the pressure build up And fewer ports because by the time you have reached the second or third port, all usable gas has pretty much gone out the earlier ports. Again, just my guess. Someone will be along to agree or tear my theory up.
  5. If the helicopter was flying at the time I was shooting out of it, I'd consider paying an extra grand! That would be a kick ass stage.
  6. Sean, thank you for taking the time to write all of this. As a relatively new shooter, this info will definitely help steepen the learning curve.
  7. Paint looks amazing. When you say jamming, is it casings getting trapped? Any pics of the difference between old/new style ejectors? I'm about to start playing with an open glock, just want to learn from others if I can.
  8. Hey Matt, its Paul Is EESA in yards or meters? 300m = about 330yards. Not that this would totally account for what you are experiencing, but it would make up some of the variance.
  9. My apologies. Too excited about the match to hit refresh when on the page.
  10. The link brings up the 2011 application for me. Is this the application we are to use for 2012? Edit. The PDF attached is the correct one. web link goes to 2011 for now.
  11. I checked online and looked through this thread. I must have missed it but is there a 2012 website set up yet? Really looking forward to shooting this match again this year
  12. That's a nice looking M&P. I'm in the process of putting together an open gun for miltigun and trying to decide which platform to go with. Your build is definitely an inspiration. Having used it competition now, would you do anything differently if you were to build it again?
  13. Could you possibly direct or hint how to search for the other vid you alluded to in you video? You mentioned "james" in Finland I think. Interesting method. Going to give it a try.
  14. The FNH 3gun last Nov was my first major 3 gun match. Before that I attended two small matches in Sept. I registered in Pro for the ProAm and will do the same for all other events I enter, given the option. I want push myself and compete against the best in the sport, and see how I measure up. I'm gonna have to quote Rick Flair here and say "In order to be the best, you have to beat the best....Wooooo!" LOL Side note, I called in to pay for the match today and have to say the lady on the phone had one of the sexiest voices I've ever heard.
  15. If I manage to get registered for this event, my plan is to shoot in the "pro" division. Is there any issue with this from a registration standpoint? I don't want to register for pro just to find out that I don't qualify for some reason and miss an opportunity to register as an amateur. In the mean time, I'll get my clicking finger warmed up. Thanks Paul
  16. This is a great thread and a great looking glock. Have you had a chance to measure the final trigger pull weight yet? I'm in the process of putting together an open glock and will actually be trying out many of the same parts you have used. Having gone through it now, would you change anything? I'm thinking of going with a SJC comp vs the one that comes with the KKM barrel. Thanks for the inspiration Paul
  17. thanks for the replies. JJ I'm going to assume you are using one of JP's clamp on front sight blocks with the globe sight mounted on it??? Any issues with it being too heavy? My concern with that solution is that I'd be putting more weight than I want to at the end of a 20" barrel. Its heavy enough as it is, perfect balance for me right now, and I'd prefer not to add too much more weight out there. That's the reason I was thinking going with the Lipski barrel band and sight would be the right solution for me. Anyway, I'll be giving them a call and see what they recommend. Thanks Paul
  18. For those of you with a JP barrel (.875 diameter) what front sight are you running? I'm thinking of using the Lipski barrel band and a globe front sight, but it doesn't come in the right diameter to fit the barrel. Would you go one size bigger (.920 I believe) and shim it or go with the size smaller than .875 and try to have it opened up? What are others using with this barrel diameter? Thanks in advance Paul
  19. Rob, where would one find the excel spreadsheet you mentioned? I did a quick search but don't see it. I'm in the planning stages of a 9 major gun and wouldn't mind gathering info. Thanks Paul Edit: found it http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70083
  20. case tipping. This might be your issue. ww w.youtube.com/watch?v=88bzbR-Zgro I don't have enough posts to embed videos so take out the space between the www when you cut paste into your browser
  21. Could you please let me know why the multiple versions of pistol and buck? I can figure out the reason for the different AR loads but not the others. I will be attending my first 3gun match later this year and would like to see if this strategy would help me out. Thanks oh, and I'm assuming you have a youtube channel with the same username as here. love the vids there.
  22. Thanks for the help. I'll give it a go. As far as ammo, it has happened with both factory winchester AA and Remington STS target shells. Not to say their ammo is always perfect, but its as good as I'm going to get retail. Maybe I'll have to run my match ammo through my reloading press just to ensure the crimp and roundness are there. Thanks again. Paul ETA: I looked at the area you mentioned more closely and I'm thinking this may be my problem. Obviously during the match I don't have the time to analyze the problem, I just want to clear the jam, but recalling mental images of the stuck shell in the entrance to the chamber, I think this is it. Thank you
  23. Hello, Long time lurker, first time poster... Seeing as this is the current thread discussing Nova mods I'd like to ask for some help. My Superova with 24" barrel is essentially stock except for the widened loading port and Nordic tube. I seem to be having feeding problems. They are far and few between, but always seem to happen during a match. One of the shells will jam itself into the "roof" of the receiver where it meets the barrel. I don't know if this is a result of me short stroking, but when it happens, it takes me a good second or two to get the bolt to slide back so that I can chamber another round. Yes, I drive them in with a bit of force. It almost seems to be hanging up where the recess is for the bolt rotation and where the chamber begins. If you slide the action back and invert the gun to look at the top of the inside of the action, you will see what I am referring to. Has this happened to any of you? Is there anything that can be done to smooth out this area to help eliminate this from happening? Or do I just need to work on my stroke? thanks in advance Paul
