  1. The slide release has a flat area on the end of the pin section with a groove at the base of the flat. This groove catches a wire spring which keeps the pin in the gun. Before you put the slide release in put some oil or light grease on the flat and in the groove. Also put some oil on the spring. You can see the spring by looking into the right side of the hole the slide release pin goes into. This should make removal and insertion easier. Also be sure to lube ( I like Wilson grease- actually a liquid grease) on the slide release pin and the inside surfaces of the bean( the bean is the kidney bean shaped cutout on the barrel lower lug that the slide release pin rides inside of). This helps the gun go in and out of battery. Also light lube on the barrel top lugs of course. I really like these guns. They start out pretty tight but after 800-1000 rounds they start feeling pretty good.
  2. I believe the Stock 2 grips are unique to the S2 and Lim Pro. Look at the pictures of "grip panels" on Henning's site.
  3. Second Denver Dave, The Henning's are great on the Stock 2. At least for my hand.
  4. I would get a cone fit guide rod ( either Hennings or tanfo xtreme ) . Then I would shoot it for awhile. Then you may or may not want to do more. Next addition would probably be a reduced power hammer spring and an extended firing pin. If you reload you might check the OAL of your rounds to see if they will chamber since Tanfo's have a rather short throat. FMJ's are usually not a problem but Zero-C and Hornady HAP need to be rather short. The Stock 2 is a great pistol. Handles great.
  5. With my new stock 2 I had an occasional feeding problem. I was loading Zero 115 conical to 1.08 since that was as long as would chamber with the notorious short throat. I then reamed the throat with a throating reamer ( Yes, I read that you might not be able to with maybe a chrome bore. But I tried it anyway and it worked perfectly. I used a Mansen throater with the rotating bushing pilot sized to fit the polygon barrel. My standard throater pilot would not go in the polygon barrel.) Then I loaded the same bullets to 1.125 and the gun has run 100% with K9 and MecGars . OAL might not have anything to do with your problem but a longer OAL helped me. My Tanfo limited also runs better with longer OAL's. I have now reamed 3 stock 2's and 4 limited and the reamer is still sharp.
  6. I just bought some Henning alum. and put them on my new style stock 2 and they fit great. Can't say it will work for everyone.
  7. G L Huyett might have them but I think you would have to buy several but they are cheep but you have to pay a small order charge etc. LRA ( last round armament) lists the eaa part but they are often out of stock.
  8. The stock 2 has checkering on the front and rear of the grip while the match does not. Stock 2 has a full length dust cover and a little more mag well flair making the bottom of the grip different. For me the stock 2 has a more secure fit in my hand because of the checkering.
  9. It is a 1.5 x 12mm metric coiled spring pin. A standard 1.5mm roll pin would probably work since nothing rotates on it.
  10. 2nd what ToddKS said. I have a Thumlers ultra-vibe 18 that I have been using for over 25 years and it still runs like new.
  11. I really like the EGW U-die in 9mm. Really worth the reasonable price.
  12. The ones I have ordered in the past came pretty quick, like three days maybe four.
  13. I have a G34 Gen4 with a KKM drop in barrel (which fit perfect-tight but no fitting required). It was shooting around 2" at 25 yds. with some of my reloads. Then I just happened to try 115 Zero C over 5.4 gr. Autocomp 1.12 oal Federal 100 primers and got several groups just under 1.0" at 25 yds. I also tried the same load with 5.2 gr Autocomp and also got several groups just under 1.0" at 25 yds all from a bench rest. Not all my groups were 1" some were a little more. This Glock is grouping almost as good as my Wilson 1911.
  14. I don't know about the Stock 2, but my Limited 9 and two other Limited 9 uppers were chrome on the outside but the bores apparently were not since I reamed them very easily with a Manson throating reamer. I had to get a reamer with a front pilot bushing sized to clear the bore since the standard reamer will not clear the polygon bore. Just a little cutting oil, a few turns and I now shoot 125 HAP loaded to 1.14. Some Tanfo barrels may be chrome bores I just don't know. I have two barrels I cannot ream due to chrome bores, XDm 5.25 and a CZ P-09. The CZ P-07 and CZ 75 were not chromed and reamed easily. For me loading short for one or two pistols is a pain when am loading for ten others that are long. It is worth the price of a reamer to try it since Manson throating reamers are not very expensive.
  15. I don't shoot major 9 but, for my medium power 9 I have been getting good results with Ba7 1/2.
  16. I put the Dawson fixed set on my G 34 Gen 4 and I like them but the gun shot 4" high at 25 yds. I then ordered the adjustable with a .300 front and the gun shot 2" high at 25 yds. with the rear down as far as it would go. I have now changed to a .335 front. For my use I basically like adjustable since I shoot several different bullets and loads. However, many prefer fixed and if I only shot action events I might prefer fixed also. I don't know if the 34 g4 just needs a taller front or my barrel just shoots high. I will say one thing for Dawson, both of the rears fit the dovetail perfectly with no filing just moderate tapping. Pay attention to the arrow on the bottom of the sight since one side of the sight dovetail is narrower than the other.
  17. I think we are all saying load long and stay long. There is no reason to work down the OAL if your barrel will take longer OAL. Sierra bullets are very stubby and tables usually show them short because if you loaded them to 1.14 there may not be enough bullet in the case. Plus with their blunt nose they will hit the lands pretty quick.

    34 gen 3 or gen 4

If you plan on shooting the gun very much get the one with the grip that feels the best. I had 2 gen 3 glocks that I tried and tried but the grip was awful for my hand. I thought about getting a grip reduction but I just put them in the back of the safe. The other day my LGS had a gen4 all grey (Lipsey's) model 19 that felt great. I bought it and shot it and it felt so much better that I ran out and bought a model 34 gen4. I really like it. Much more comfortable for my hand. Other people like gen 3's but for my hand the gen4 works much better. Your decision should be based on your hand and not your brain. Good luck with whatever you end up with.
  19. I forgot to add that your 125 Zeros if they are JHP-Conical or regular JHP can go longer than HAPs since the shoulder is more rounded. I have shot over 10,000 of the Zero -C's with very good results, very accurate.
  20. I am no help on 700x, but I will comment on COL. Some of the manuals show the 9mm HAP loaded very short ie. 1.07. HAP's with the rather sharp shoulder will not chamber in some barrels like CZ's if loaded any or much longer than that. Most newer Glock barrels ( such as my rather new 19 and 34) will take 125 HAPs at around 1.12. You might see what COL your barrel would take to hit the lands and then back that down a little and load some test rounds. The increased COL will give you a little less pressure but I can't tell you haw much it will affect the actual velocity. The 125 HAP is a very good bullet and can be very accurate. I have throated all my CZ's and EAA Witness barrels to take HAP's at 1.12.

    Glock 24 versus 35

FLY, Cabelas had some ported ones and some non-ported, which might be different prices. I agree with b1g .
  22. I be third. I picked up an X-Cal recently. Gun shoots really well. Up until a month ago I had never heard of them. Has anyone ever seen one of the 20 round magazines?
  23. My P-09 9mm likes 121 montana golds over N350.
  24. hkparts sells a modified needle nose pliers that is for holding TRS of this type.
