  1. The soft cover we offer at matches most often means you wont be able to see the whole target anywhere within the COF. Otherwise it would totally defeat the whole point, but the head or "upper scoring area" is fully visible at all times. We never use turtle targets behind soft cover.
  2. So for. 22 we need to have 4 new divisions, and we scratch the V? 1) revo. 22 2) L-10 .22 3) Lim .22 4) open .22 The logistics of adding RF are just too great. I don't get a special lane to drive 90mph to work in, I have to shlep along with everyone else. I can see some marriage of SS and L10.
  3. I've got a lr-308 ap-4 that has gotten a jp adj gb and comp. I added them together so not sure how much each contributed, but they tamed that rifle like no tomorrow.
  4. I'm considering the SR9C as a possible carry pistol. I'm wondering what folks impressions are of the pistola? reliability trigger sights accuracy Those aren't in any particular order except for #1. If it don't go bang even with nonUSA ammo I don't want to stake my life on it.
  5. Check with local autobody supply shops or sandblasting media stores. I bought 50lbs of crushed walnut for ~$47 locally.
  6. Considering this is in Russia, I doubt they are encumbered by the vast array of safety issues we are saddled with in the US. OSHA, EPA, etc. In no way am I implying IPSC in Russia or anywhere else is not as safety concious as IPSC or USPSA in the US. I am saying the gubment entities are probably not as safety nazi-ish as in the US. Seems I read an article about those ranges. If I recall that's why they are in ground / indoors because of all the overbearing guberment regulations on ranges. It was in FS I think.
  7. Looks like more flare is needed to me. Hit it with a little more flare and see if it helps.
  8. I have procured, at a very nice bargain, a pile of federal large magnum primers and 700x. So far I'm coming up short on recipes. Fed mag lrg pistol primers 700x 200gr SWC & 230gr RN Might just go with RCBS published load and back off 10%. If anyone has a recipe I'd be interested.
  9. I love Festivus. Grievances: I'm sick and tired of my wife leaving her oatmeal bowls in the bathroom. Then it makes cement that I have to clean.
  10. I have no experience with the 650. But when I 1st started with my red beast I made the mistake of lubing the powder cylinder, with 3-n-1 oil. Powder weight dropped was pretty close but the oil jacked the powder up and I had lots of ignition problems. Also, are you using a set of check weights to ensure your scale is accurate? Honestly though if the bullet is lodged in the barrel then there likely wasn't any powder in the case.

    Waste

I hate waste in all it's forms. time money effort thought Seems like we would all be better off with less waste. I don't really mean like trash and "being green" more like the intangibles, as listed above. It really erks the fire out of me when the 4yr old leaves food on her plate. It really erks the crap out of me when the wife doesn't properly correct the dog. It really erks me when folks display a total lack of horsesense. It really grinds my gears when people who should know better continue to make the same poor decision, that adversely affects someone else, over and over and over, with no regard for anyone else but their own self serving purposes.
  12. The atmosphere is a "lose/lose" situation for pro-gunners at the moment. I suspect that as emotions cool off you will see the NRA and other pro-gun groups become more visable in the coming days.
  13. You ask a tricky question. The question shouldn't be "what is used most" rather "what works the best for me". The former is easy: 200gr and 230gr rule the roost. I believe 230gr is the most popular. I'm digging the for results from past SS Nats survey's but can't locate them ATM. The latter is harder: It will require sessions as the bench and range to try and determine which load suits you best. I prefer a nice steady "push" type recoil. So I go with 230gr RN. The RN seem to feed the best with most mag/gun combo's. SWC is a very challenging profile for the 1911. It just wasn't designed for that nose. I run them out of mine and 1000's of other do also with good results, but mine didn't at first (took a trip back to STI for that). If at all possible garner some different samples from gun range partners and see what fits you best. (Don't you hate complicated answers to easy questions.)
  14. I went with the SS guide rod myself, but I haven't run it with a Tungsten to know the difference. In fact I think it's a little nose heavy as is, so I doubt if I would care for the Tungsten. A little work with some 400grit sandpaper will cure your mag release issues (see pics). http://i1136.photobu...1-01-14_320.jpg Other than my carry guns I put adjustable rear sights on everything. I run a SJC magwell, Al not brass, and a KKM barrel. The factory barrel was sufficently accurate with my handloads, but I put a donut in it so bought a KKM. Yes the KKM is more accurate, but not really needed for USPSA. Currently running 14lbs(red) Zev recoil spring. Along with the Zev competition spring pack I did the "25cent glock trigger job". I was having relabiltiy issues with the aftermarket trigger housing so I went back to the factory one. Still running stock striker but about to try the ZEV lightened one to see if I can run something other than Fed primers, they are hard to find these days.
  15. I am the least experienced guy in this thread, but my shotty is zeroed for slugs at 100m and ringing a 12" plate at 100m is easy peasy.
  16. I have never done business with LOKI but after what I'm seeing here makes me embarrassed that anyone from OK would pull this crap. How the hell does a company that has a line of customers go belly up? Sounds like someone should have taken a business class. I hope you folks get it made right.
  17. Just a few observations. Work on getting the reload completed in 1 step. When you run your walk through try to plan your steps and foot placement so that you dont have to shuffle your feet once you get into position. You would be amazed how much time is lost getting into and out of position inefficiently. The night shoot looks pretty cool.
  18. When I was loading on a turret press I would hand prime. Once I got the L-N-L I quit. The press was built for doing that operation so I let it work.
  19. That could be a big concern for us here in OK. With the drought conditions here a grass fire would be a serious issue. Is this a range by range issue? Can a competitor get a DQ for violating standing range rules? I fear we have strayed for the OPs intent.
  20. Why would you think that ammo causing squibs is the only type of ammo that could be "deemed unsafe" by a range official? Mike Squibs was just the example I was thinking of that is given a specific exception in the rules. 10.5.15.1 Ammunition declared unsafe by a Range Official due to multiple squibs, shall not subject the competitor to disqalification. I've seen overpressure ammo lock up open guns and was deemed unsafe. None others come to mind as I type, but I'm sure there are other examples. I do think steel coreish pistol ammo would count as "unsafe" in my book, but I also think its a somewhat tricky line in the sand to draw. I guess I was mainly trying to draw attention to the fact that our rule book make a clear exception for ammo that could cause a very dangerous situation. I would hope that a fellow competitor who experienced multiple squibs in a match would voluntarily withdraw, so protect themselves and the rest of the squad.
  21. I've never shot a Nationals but would like to in the coming years. If Vegas is the venue for say 5 yrs then I would just suck it up and go. However if the venue rotated around the country I would try to catch it someplace more appealing. Vegas the city doesn't really do anything for me, but I can see why it is a good location for an event like Nats.
  22. Just curious.....what rule was cited for the DQ? Most likely: 10.5.15 Using metal piercing, incendiary and/or tracer ammunition (see Rule 5.5.3), and/or using any ammunition which has been deemed unsafe by a Range Official (see Rule 5.5.5). I wondered about this as well. It's most likely not technically metal piercing ammo but if it is sparking on steel then it is certainly unsafe ammo. In principle I don't disagree, but by rule I do. If I can't DQ a shooter for ammo that has had 1 squib per stage for the last 4 stages then I don't see how ammo that "sparks" on a popper is "unsafe".
  23. Just curious.....what rule was cited for the DQ?
  24. If you have swapped out any springs you may run into ignition issues. I painfully watched an G34 with competition spring pack not reliably light primers for a match. I've shot both Tula and Monarch steel cased stuff through my CM9 with no issues to report. Smells funny but runs fine.
  25. I have a stockish DPMS AP4 LR-308 16" barrel. With handloaded 147gr FMJ over 44gr of Varget I have no trouble ringing steel at 300yrds with irons. Your mileage may vary.
