  1. The obvious is that the state you are going to has to allow SBRs. Keep in the mind that you cannot take the rifle to a non SBR state by putting a 16 inch upper on it. Once the rifle is on the ATF list it is a SBR no matter what the upper length is.
  2. Magsz: Post PRK I can actually see the front sight. Any more time with the small sig release and I'm going to need a thumb replacement implant. JAFO: sounds interesting, I'll be seeing one of the Sig Team guys in the next week or two and ask where I can find the parts. thx jon
  3. Bought the gun 1 ½ years ago to shoot production again. Liked it and got great results. Negative was I kept locking the slide back. At least twice a Match I would go to slide lock during a stage. Never mastered the Sig hold, Put the gun away waiting for the new smaller slide stop. It arrived a few weeks ago. Works perfectly, no slide lock backs while firing. But, the slide release is heavy, it has created a deep cut into my thumb. Slide will release but it is painful and distracting. Sling-shoting is not something I wish to do, but it works. Looking for ideas, I do like the way the gun works… if I could figure out the slide stop problem. Thanks, jon
  4. I CCW a subcompact grip on a compact slide. It hides well in S Florida clothing.
  5. Drop Limited, Open and Production for 2 years. Everyone shoots CO and Revolver . We need more guns not more people and divisions. Also, no guns under 40 oz.
  6. STI 9mm with Tripp Mags for Steel Challenge Gunsite 45 for USPSA Colt CCO with Tripp for EDC....there is a theme someplace.
  7. It is Monday so the usual series of calls come up. This one confuses me. Level 1 match, nothing major at stake. I am the shooter with a Single Stack in 45 making nice big holes. Being run by a quality shooter, LEO trainer and friend. Stage is mostly barrels and mesh. We finish, check the scoring and he tells me an “A” went full diameter thru a barrel and is scored a Mike. I am a 15 year CRO. My response is that he should have been looking at the gun not the hit. The scorekeeper had his nose in the tablet and didn’t see. Went to the MD and his response was a “glancing” hit on the barrel would score but a “full diameter” is a miss. How is this correctly viewed? Was the RO wrong for making the call? What is the applied rule. Thanks in advance. jon
  8. No question yelling out finger or muzzle is something I do. You can anticipate a problem coming. Especially if the shooter has a malfunction, you know something is going to happen next, and you know a loss of concentration is coming. My mental approach is to anticipate problems not wait for them. Also, sometimes I get a squad with no real experienced ROs or not enough to help me. If they seem co-operative I stick them in as the ROs and call out the commands which they then repeat. They learn, I enjoy the give and take of working with someone and it seems to work. Just thoughts…
  9. Here is an odd question on scoring. I cracked a few bones in my strong side hand (right). Shot a USPSA match last weekend by drawing with my right hand and switching the gun to my left hand and then shooting the match lefty. Have a Steel Challenge tomorrow. 5 Stages is too many presentations for the damaged right hand to draw. I would like to shoot Production starting at Low Ready. How do I score Procedurals on 25 runs or is there a better way to approach. Yes, it would be easier to shoot a .22
  10. STI Duty One or Range Officer ? Purchase conundrum. For the past 7 years I’ve carried a Colt Gunsite CCO. (Lightweight lower, 4 ¼ inch commander slide, 45acp). The gun beats up my hands and I usually only shoot a box a month. The timing and feel are different from my Colt Single Stacks. so it just isn’t enough practice. Handled a 9mm Springfield Range Officer, also lightweight, in 9mm – very similar feel to the Colt. But, I’ll be able to get more time on a 9mm. Gun runs about $725.00, add in shipping, transfer, sights, grips and a trigger. I am seeing an STI Duty One at twice the price. It looks the same, light lower and commander slide. But expensive! With MSRP close to $1700.00 I’ve got an STI 9mm Legacy, no longer made, and it has been my square range go to gun for everything and stone reliable for 17000 rounds. It is too big to carry concealed in South Florida and not dependable with hollow points. Twice the money is a lot. Anyone with experience with both or either guns would be appreciated. One can’t exactly walk into the LGS and see a STI. Thx jon

    Sig P320

Need some help...where are you putting your strong hand thumb on the slide. Mine fits best slightly under the slide stop but is locking the slide back. Bang, lock, bang, lock ? Do you put your thumb on the slide stop and hold it down or way under to not interfere... TIA jon
  13. Sig 320F slide stop issues I am used to a 1911, the more I shoot the Sig 320 Full Size, the more I am locking the slide open with rounds still in the magazine. My thumb starts on top of the slide stop with the off hand underneath. Recoil moves both hands enough to push my thumb to activate the slide stop. Suggestions appreciated. TIA jon

    Sig 320 sights ?

Local Steel Challenge match coming up. I am not ready to choose new competition sights. The factory night sights wash out against used steel plates (or I am just used to red fiber optics). If I use black Sharpie on the sights will it come off easily? I know there used to be a spray but it was a sloppy mess. Sharpie OK ?
  15. My HK P7s eject brass 20 feet. With factory ammo they don't make minor.

    Sig 320 sights ?

I called Dawson last week and they said the combination would not fit a 320. Have you seen these on a 320? thx jon

    Sig 320 sights ?

Picked up one a Sig 320 few weeks ago. Before I can evaluate it for Production (and spend $ on new holster mags and mag holders)… I really need more competitive sights. The gun comes with blocky night sights. Any suggestions? I am mostly running 115 fronts with 140 or 15x rears which work well for my 1911s and Glock 19s TIA jon
  18. It is a terrible idea. I’m 65 and never shot as a Sr or plan on competing as a Super Sr. How far do we water down the matches to the point where everyone gets a prize? Do we start a Race division or Religion with first, 2nd and 3rd prizes also? Each stage has a score, each match has a total. My feeling is we rid ourselves of the entire A, B, GM, M system and just shoot competition. Rant mode off. jon
  19. Why not one of Gunsite's Colt CCOs? I have two that are my EDC. Changed the slide stops and had Trijicon add inserts. Mags are from Tripp. Guns are Series 70. Easy to conceal, light to carry and reliable.
  20. Anyone knows if a short Glock trigger exists. I’ve got a shorter pointer/trigger finger on both hands and find myself pushing the pistol rather than pulling straight back. As a 1911 shooter I am having a terrible time making the transition to Glock 19’s. TIA jon
  21. I hope the problem is not with Our club. If it is please email or PM me. Yes, one of the first things I was taught as an RO in the late 90's was any shooter could ask any time to change ROs.
  22. I am surprised that no one has brought up arm length. We shoot one match each month where 4 stages share one open bay. As a result there is a lot of shooting around the ends of barriers. It is easier and faster for the taller usually longer armed shooters to round a corner and shoot in. The shorter shooter has to pull up, balance and aim more carefully. Never seen a good answer for combining challenge/difficulty with fairness.

    Grip Force Adapter

Gentlemen: thank you for the comments, and yes, I do understand. I am still a bit stuck on why a $23.00 part is a no go and $1500.00 worth of work on a CZ is acceptable. I clearly remember when we started Production and Single Stack the goal was an inexpensive entry into USPSA and the shooters would later buy "real guns' for Limited and Open. Certainly this fits into the original context. I would like to escalate the question, so, how do I do that? Who can I reach out to at HQ? thx jon

    Grip Force Adapter

One of the reasons I’ve been USPSA for 17 years and a CRO for 12 years is that the rules make sense to me. I am really stuck on the logic behind not allowing the Grip Force Adapter for Glocks. Had eye surgery recently and decided I also need a complete change of guns to eliminate an ennui at matches. I’ve owned a Glock 19 for 20 years and generally ignored it One son “borrowed” the 19 after a 3 day class so I picked up two new Generation 3 Glock 19s. I’ve found that unlike HK P7s and Colt 1911’s everyone on the range is a Glock expert and HAS to share their knowledge Two non-USPSA guys who I shoot outlaw steel with both suggested the GFA. Picked up two and yes it changes the angle and most importantly eliminates the slide bite. The GFA definitely helps. But, they are not Legal for Production. I am stuck as to why. Glock now has changeable backstraps. The part is a lousy $20.00, but if I show up, I am in Open. With all the expensive smithing going on in Production a drop in plastic curve has a place. (I know 22. and 21.4) Not looking to change the World just some reasonable specific understanding. Thx jon
