    MG RO class

    Curtis: thank you.
  2. Front Sight in May/June mentions a MG course for ROs and CROs. I have tried but cannot find the sign up. Does anyone have the link? TIA jon
  3. I've been reading about delays with new applications. My renewal sent in February this year was back to me in two weeks. My older son moved to DC and had to change his CCW to an out of state permit. The process took him over 6 months with multiple problems, phone calls and delays. On the positive side they are clearly trying to work with CCWs and get them done. I know from his calls they were always co operative.
  4. Dealing with Frontsite and William was a PITA both times I ordered from them. Having said that, my Hideaway lives in the change pocket of my jeans and is an Always knife. FYI it took 3 or 4 different holsters to find the way I liked to carry my knife.
  5. "Search TSA" I just slapped myself on the head.
  6. I have a flight coming up. In my check in bag will be two pistols. Spoke to the airline about their rules. I have a small carry on sized Pelican that I will pack the guns in and within that is a small locking box. (Ammo is original box and separate.) In the past TSA has me lock the small interior box, but I don’t remember what their practice is for the outside locks. How are the exterior locks handled by TSA. Should I bring my own, buy advertised TSA locks etc? TIA jon
  7. I picked up an STI Legacy in 9mm. It is an awesome gun out of the box. At 3K+ rounds I really should do a review. But, it is more expensive.
  8. At my present pace, I should be able to sell stuff in just 6 more years.
  9. Carbine match Tuesday night, someplace between grabbing all the targets etc and shooting 3 stages lost my Emerson folding Karambit. It has been in my front pocket for 4 years. Bummer.
  10. I don’t know if this helps. Picked up a STI Legacy in 9 a few months ago. At the same time I bought 6 Tripp 9mm 10 round mags. Zero failures of any kind to feed or drop free so far. It is now just about 1500 rounds of factory Blazers. Seating the 9mm magazines is not a problem. I do have to use a lot of effort to get his 45 mags into my carry guns with a round in the chamber.
  11. I’ve got two questions about 22 conversions kits for my 1911 Colt Combat Target. A. Will the gun fit a into a standard holster, or will the different upper require some new Kydex? B. Also, which conversion kits do you guys like? Open to anything but JA Ciener. Yeah I’ve spoken to him. LOL
  12. I usually use plugs but they are not effective for taking classes. ( I need to loosen them to hear commands clearly and sometimes there isn’t time to get them back in.) I have to purchase electronic ear muffs. Wearing almost anything around my head gives me a nasty headache. Can someone suggest a really lightweight and comfortable ear muff? I hear good things about Sordin, but am totally open.
  13. Bart: Did you make any attempt to keep the holster clean of dust etc between uses? Yup, still holding out the slim hope of using the gun hard but keeping it nice and pretty.... like me.
  14. "All 1911 magazines are the same width regardless of caliber. (ETA:) That is they are the same general width. Tolerances vary some from magazine to magazine. I have a mess of old Colt .45 8-rounders. Some are decidedly loose in my carriers that are just snug with my newer .45 Power Mags. Comp-Tac is the best. It's all I'll use." Is it worth the $150. to get mag holders that just fit the 9mm? I am getting the message: There is no pretty answer, either it is for competing or a safe queen. I am not a safe queen shooter, everything gets used hard. In a week or two I will stop fondling this Legacy and choose Kydex.
  15. Yup, the Safariland 567 looks worth trying. Maybe I will own one gun that doesn’t look like I found it in the trash. I am going to order Comp tac single stack mag holders like the ones I use for Single Stack. In theory the same ones should fit a 45 or 9, but the 9 Tripp mags seem very loose in the ones set for 45s.
  16. I picked up the Legacy this morning from Derek at Millennium. Added some oil and headed for a test run. It came with one mag. The 4 Tripp 10 rounders ran flawlessly with CCI Blazer and some WWB. It was only a 100 rounds but a very positive start when every thing runs as it should.
  17. Most of my pistol looks like they have been dragged behind a truck. The ones I compete with look like a truck then backed up over them. Just got a brand new STI Legacy in 9mm for Steel etc. The blueing is very nice. I've been happy with my Comp Tac holsters for my single stack guns but I would like to not "kydex" this blue finish. Any suggestions for a fast holster that won't scratch up the finish. At least I can then have one decent looking gun. TIA jon
  18. P7s are a lot of fun to shoot in USPSA Production. I've been shooting an P7 M13 since Production was started. Totally reliable and if there are any misses it isn't the guns fault. As to the gun heating up, yes, maybe 75 rounds, but since there is usually an hours wait between stages I've never had a P7 get too hot at a match. The P7 M8 only holds 8 in the magazine, but so does does a Single Stack. Reloads are quick with the ambi mag release and simply squeeze to close the slide. There is also plenty of good Kydex equipment available.
  19. Every year the NROI exam arrives and I sullenly take the time to answer the questions and return the form. The questions are mostly easily found by searching the on line rule book. But, everyone once in a while they throw in a question that you have to take time to search out. Then search again to see if there are two close answers. The whole thing is ….boring. I don’t believe I have gotten especially dumber in the past year. I have been an RO and CRO for a number of years and mostly I just run shooters at the club level. USPSA accepts my membership for 3 years. Florida accepts my CCW for even more years. USPSA doesn’t take away my B every year. But, year after year I have to sit down and take a test of the rules which really have not changed ALL that much in the past 11 years I have been in USPSA. Come on guys, it is time to rethink the waste of everyone’s time with annual NROI testing.
  20. You can load your first magazine with 11 rounds. When the buzzer goes off you have one in the chamber and 10 rounds in the magazine per rules.
  21. Bummer. I thought that was one of the better changes, actually. Can some one breakdown what steps in a "reload" you can do in the open. Drop mag, retreive a new one, insert but not release the slide and still be in the spirit of the match. Its going to come up.
  22. I stayed there two years ago for a match at Franks and just made reservations last week for the Open. I think this is the right # 863-692-1321.
  23. Any negatives about staying at the River Ranch on 60? Its close and about the same rates as I remember from prior years hotels.
