  1. It seems that the only time a score gets flagged with a "B" is if you are already classified and you get a score more than 5% below your classification. If a score is ever used for your classification it seems to never get flagged as a "B" but rather might get downgraded to a "F" and still count to push your 94 to an "E".
  2. Just saw this...congratulations on BEing (couldn't resist) able to semi-retire. Thank you and I wish you well!
  3. Sarge is just upset cuz he ain't got no friends to stay with! Me? I grab the BE map and start driving in ever widening circles until I find one of you guys that will let me sleep on the couch (preferably inside). Sometimes I do *a lot* of circles.
  4. As far as I can tell from some other problem I had, it is not possible to over-insert a magazine in a full size (or Pro) M&P. It is very easy to over-insert a full size mag into a compact or an extended mag into a Shield if you take off the mag spacer. When you (I) do that it bends the crap out of the ejector. I did find that using TF mag extensions on an M&P 40 allowed the mag to be inserted just slightly higher, not enough to bend or damage anything, but it would occasionally seem to "lock" back when (during cycling) the mag would bounce farther into the mag well than one with a stock basepad and the top round would hold the slide back. The slide release wouldn't be locked back so that did nothing, had to pull and release the slide from the rear. I base my assertion that you can't over-insert a mag into a full size M&P based on trying to do that both with the top end on and off the gun. If I held the grip and pressed down firmly on the TF extended mag while racking the slide, it would get stuck back. Sometimes in a match I would go 20 rounds without it happening, sometimes it would happen 10 times in a row. I tried the same thing with the extensions on 9mm mags and it never happens when using 9.
  5. It should not be submitted as an official classifier score if it was setup incorrectly. It could still be used as a valid stage in the match as long as everyone shot it the same way but they should not submit it as an official classifier score. The RO shouldn't change that without approval from the RM. I would hope that the RM would know enough to fix it or not submit it as a classifier. If they did fix it, anyone that had shot it previously would need to reshoot it once correctly setup.
  6. Based on some of your scores, I'd say you havent found looking at the front of the targets useful either! :-) hey-ohhh!! OUCH!! That's a 1-Alpha the hard way!
  7. On a related note...has anyone ever found looking at the back of the target useful, and if so, how? The only time I look at the back of the target is for scoring IDPA shoot-throughs.
  8. Damn impressive to start in A. I look forward to seeing how far/quickly you can move up from there.
  9. LOL...he jacked your account, On BE it thinks your real name is Jayson. If you look at his scores you'll see what I mean about him first getting classified C and then getting a 5th classification that didn't count because it was 33. http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-classifer-lookup-results.php?number=A92947
  10. If you look at your classifiers you can see that a similar situation already happened on 2/27/16. You got your initial C classification after your first 4 and then your fifth was less than 35 so it was not counted.
  11. I can think of two more....
  12. Nice! If I was posting pictures of my groups at 50 yards I would have to include that 6 of the 10 shots actually hit the target and can be seen on the left side of my target:
  13. Well, today it happened because John2A fell asleep and his rather large head rested on the enter key....
  14. You've never seen me when someone shows up at the range with krispy kremes!
  15. Because of the subjective way that rules are designed and enforced in IDPA, I don't shoot it to compete (though that is difficult for any competitive person). I shoot IDPA to practice with what I carry and how I carry it. I have run several IDPA matches (and USPSA and 3-gun) matches over the years and I try to make IDPA matches a learning experience...to present shooters with challenges they don't get to practice usually or maybe haven't thought of. We do things like shooting in the dark while retrieving and carrying a dummy. Yes, we don't follow strict IDPA rules but rather allow people to use what they actually carry, including weapon mounted lights and lasers. Following the excellent example set by GADPA we also allow people who want to shoot their USPSA rigs the ability to do so in a separate division (though still enforcing 10 round mags, use of cover, etc). We also allow Pistol Caliber Carbine because some people may want to try a match with what they keep by the bed or in the closet. Once we get enough steel we'll probably have a defensive shotgun match or two. Because of the more clearly define rules I consider USPSA to be a much better form of true competition where people's performance can be more accurately compared. I still enjoy the defensive matches but maybe that is because I look at them in a different way and don't get wound up over whether or not someone is being accurately judged by Bubba SO according to the vague rules of gunfighting according to Bill Wilson. As far as appendix carry, this is part of what I tell people in my now way too long and boring safety briefing...
  16. I would be surprised if common criminals would even recognize an IDPA vest as such.
  17. I think the rule is perfectly valid! What is not is that people "game" it by wearing vests that they do not wear otherwise. For those that actually wear the vest in public I think it is good for them to practice and compete with it. Personally, I shoot with my normal, everyday clothes that include a shirt long enough to conceal. That results in lots of good practice drawing from exactly how I carry everyday.
  18. For me it would be determined by how he did it. If he had really lost it and threw it in a fit of uncontrolled (or improperly controlled) rage, then yes, I think it merits a DQ. I don't want people who can't handle some misfortune without losing it. What is going to happen on the next stage when Bubba in the crowd unexpectedly burps right before the start signal? Does he warrant a two-alpha? OTOH, if it was done in a joking manner, I have no problem with that. I would think it was kind of funny if someone took the mag out of their gun and tossed it back into a trash barrel.
  19. I went back and looked. In the new rule book available here: http://www.idpa.com/compete/rules ...it has:
  20. As I recall, in CDP you can use either 7 or 8 round mags but whatever you use for the first mag, you have to use that same amount for the rest of the match. Unless otherwise specified all magazines have to have division capacity...you can't download to game a slide lock reload. You now, may, however, dump rounds to empty the mag (unless it is a limited vickers stage).
  21. The base plate is what keeps a mag from over-inserting. I made the mistake of running extended mags in my Shield without the slide on extensions. When I did a slide lock reload I over inserted the mag and bent the ejector. I have a problem that only occurs with TT extended basepads in my M&P 40s. They allow the mag to insert a little farther and while firing they will occasionally bounce up and the slide will effectively lock back when the top round binds against the slide. It does not happen when those same basepads are used on my M&P 9s. I verified this by putting a full mag in and pressing down on the bench to simulate it bouncing all the way up during firing. It would hold the slide back in 40 but not 9. It was not consistent but on some stages would happen 10 out of 15 times and sometimes none out of 15, but it was sure annoying when my M&P went into single shot mode. Here are pictures of a California 10 round mag inserted as far as it will go (stopped by the base pad) and a normal mag tube with the base pad removed:
  22. Lots of discussion about timing in this thread: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=172016&p=1924926
  23. USB is Apex's replacement for the stock striker block.
