Interesting picture comparing the dimensions of the two rounds: http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?t=390745 Though I have seen people say that you can trim the .45 ACP down to GAP length, it looks like rim dimensions are different and I would worry about extractor issues. Honestly, unless you are really drawn to the GAP round, I'd look at guns that shoot more common rounds (like .45 ACP).

Careful about the mags...while digging around and asking on CalGuns.net I found out that I could not take hi-cap mages into CA. The only exemption was for hi-cap rifle mags if going directly to or from an organized "assult rifle" match. (I'm sure that is not exactly and precisely correct wording, but that was the gist of it)

For me, going to CA and checking the gun as baggage was very easy. Shipping the ammo to myself at the hotel was a bit more of a pain. Next time, I'll just buy ammo when I get there. I did lock the gun in a hard case and then put that in the rattiest, most average looking suitcase I have. Not much chance of that one getting looked at twice after TSA screening.

If you right click on your name in the upper left corner of the screen and select "My Settings", then in the General Settings, change the "Forum Results Display" in the "Search settings" to "Show results as a list" rather than "Show results like a forum"... You will still get all of the posts within each thread that match the search criteria, but the arangement is in a more outline like format that makes it easier to read.

Sacrilege!! There are no other places nor forums! I also prefer it to open a new tab or window, but I can deal with manually having to choose that.

I like how they do it at South River GC near Atlanta... They have 3 people make sure the range is empty. One comes through the shoot house, one around the left side, and one around the right side. That way they make sure no one is still downrange.

I wish I had read this last week....I was just up in your area and would have loved to go test this out with my phone. I'd still be more than happy to do some testing with a Droid, if you like.

I installed it today. I haven't tried it at the range yet, but it works pretty well picking up bodily noises.

Just went through check-in in Dan Diego's and no problems. They didn't want to see it and the metal in my neck and leg didn't set off the scanner this time, either. Now to see if my gun makes it home...

I cheated (you should know that)! I don't get back until tomorrow and then leave for Boston on Sunday. Wow! I signed the card and I even asked if they wanted me to open the case and they said no, not unless somehing looks wrong when they scan it. I did have the slide off, the barrel and recoil spring out, and no mags nor rounds in the case, so it should have been pretty easy to see that it wasn't "loaded".

I always blink when I yell, "Contact!" Is there some tacticool apparell that will prevent that?

I flew from Augusta, GA to San Diego with an M&P9 checked with zero problems. They didn't even ask me to open the case. They scanned the case first and probably realized there were no mags and no rounds in there. We'll see how it goes when I try to return from CA...
