  1. It does seem to handle numbers differently. Try changing your search to (and include the double quotes): "40 open"
  2. I have been using the Remington Benchrest 7 1/2s and have had zero problems with them (approx 3,000 rounds).
  3. I load .357 Sig with JHP because there is limited case neck area contacting the bullet and the full-diameter portion of the bullet on most JHPs is taller/longer than comparable round nose FMJs.
  4. Very cool! I started my son at 9 and he has been very safe about his gun handling.
  5. That's how I read it, and I can't see that they state what age constitutes Senior. 3. Individual Categories: Categories approved for individual recognition are as follows: a. Lady b. Junior Competitors under the age of 18 on the first day of the match. c. Senior Competitors over the age of 55 on the first day of the match d. Super Senior Competitors over the age of 65 on the first day of the match.. Acompetitor over the age of 65 on the first day of the match may enter Senior Category only if Super Senior is unavailable. e. Military Military personnel on current active duty orders. f. Law Full-time law enforcement officers with arrest powers.
  6. LOL! When I first arrived at the Univ. of MD in '83, my unknown-to-me roomate had already moved in and that quote from Def Leppard was on a sign on his desk. Being young and having grown up on the music of the inbred, I didn't get the quote and thought I was stuck with a pot-head. (listening to this right now!) http://vodpod.com/watch/2510167-def-leppard-rock-of-ages
  7. I've seen different variations, but never who the quote was from:
  8. I seat the MG 55gr so that just the very top of the cannelure is barely showing above the case mouth. With the cases trimmed to 1.745 that results in an OAL of 2.250. Be careful with 2.260 as that might hang in some magazines.
  9. The Hodgdon's web site does list the suggest COL for their loads: http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp I hesitate to tell how I arrive at my OAL, as I am fairly new at this, too. In addition to chamber checking, you should also check to make sure that the rounds insert and feed well in/from your magazines.
  10. The people at Quantico Shooting Club might be able to point you in the right direction: http://www.quanticoshootingclub.com/qsc.php?view=contact
  11. http://www.quantico.usmc.mil/activities/display.aspx?PID=1686&Section=BaseInfo Lists the Weapons Training Battalion at 784-5341. I believe that should be a 703 area code.
  12. On this page: http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75800 I found: I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.
  13. What is the length of your trimmed cases? What OAL are you getting by aligning the cannelure with the case mouth? What kind of bullets are you using?
  14. I tried to do that, but it will not even give me a chance to right click. Chris and SLM...what browser are you using? For me, using Internet Explorer 8, I can right-click on the picture and choose to open in a new window or in a new tab (instead of left-clicking on the picture to summon the MFB).
  15. I went the disposable route for some cheap .223 targets at 50 yards. I got a stack of metal electrical box covers (4"x4") and hung them from plant hangars using safety wire. I also attached safety sire to the side so that when hit it would swing back to facing me. Except for shooting the a couple of the safety wire hangars, they each took 10 or more shots and held up great.
  16. Powder manufacturers publish recommendations. For TiteGroup: http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp They don't list MG 180 CMJs, but the load data for the 180 Hornady XTP is close enough. From there, you'll see that it suggests a starting load of 4.2 and a max of 4.7 loaded at an OAL of 1.125. What you'll find here through searching and asking, is that many people will tweak their load from there. Personally, I've found that 4.7g of TG works well in my M&P.40 with a MG 180 CMJ loaded to an OAL of 1.130. Your application might be different, but I wouldn't start at 3.5g. Someone more knowledgable than I can explain why, but I have heard that it is also unsafe to load too light of a charge, so I would not go below the 4.2 starting point that Hodgdon suggests.
  17. In IE (maybe others, too) you can close the MFB by hitting the Esc key. I like it.
  18. It might be a fairly simple SQL statement to trim all of the existing entries in the database.
  19. I don't use night sights but I have heard that after the first shot/flash that the night sights are worthless as your eyes no longer pick up the subtly-brighter night sights. True or false?
  20. I have played with making the dot bigger. It does help with up close, fast sight acquisition but I find myself centering the big dot between the tops of the rear sight instead of trying to get the top of the front sight aligned (resulting in shots hitting high if any real distance).
  21. On the main forum page there is a link to "The Moderating Team"... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=stats&do=leaders But... I didn't realize you were offering this service for free. I don't believe anyone would have any problem with that. I commend you for doing that. Welcome!
