  1. If you're shooting at matches where you seriously think people are forging forms to steal something off the prize table, you need to start going to better matches or consider the possibility that you may be a little paranoid. Personally, I wouldn't spend my time running around with a bunch of armed theives!
  2. I don't understand the logic of changing SS rules. I get pushing limits in Limited and Open. That's what those divisions are all about. But SS works as is, it isn't about developing technology. It's about working within an established framework of rules using a narrowly defined set of equipment. Problem solving and efficiency are the goals, not innovation. BB
  3. This has been my experience with a few thousand rounds of brass I let sit out over the winter before I picked it up. I just keep a bucket by the press and drop these in with spent primers. I give the bucket to the nearest scrap metal scavenger when it fills up. BB
  4. Spent most of the weekend on the bike getting comfortable with my new shoes and cleats. I love the connection to my bike, but my knees are starting to look like hamburger after falling 3 times in 2 days. Gotta learn how to get out of these things quicker! FWIW, if anyone has an extra road bike they'd trade for my extra extra 1911, let me know! BB
  5. Best thing you can do when you start out is use what you have and only buy a minimal setup. In 6 months or a year, you'll have a MUCH better understanding of the game and what gear you really do need. Naturally, no one ever follows this advice, which is why most of us have boxes of holsters, mags, guns, tools, and other accessories that were pretty cool, but turned out to not be what we really needed. BB
  6. I've been carrying my iShot bag for at least 6 or 7 years. While it shows a few signs of having been regularly used for 6 or 7 years, it's held up well, and has at least another 6 or 7 seasons in it.
  7. A year ago last October, I developed a bad case of tennis elbow. On my doctor's advice, I took the winter off from shooting, reloading, dry firing, or anything else I could avoid. I got through most of last season with only minor problems, and adopted a regimen of exercises and wore a brace whenever I shot or reloaded. Took it easy again this past winter, but now I'm finding a host of bad habits that have crept into my technique ver the winter. The big problem? Just when I need to step up my practice routine and I'm shooting matches regularly my tennis elbow has flared up in a major way. Any suggestions for how to get my technique back and shoot a seasons worth of matches at the same time my elbow pain is increasing?
  8. Coffee cans are your friend, as are clear plastic peanut/mixed nut jars. All my ammo goes into coffee or nut cans (search the forums for "Bean's Bullet Bucket") as it comes off the press. Once I've case gauged it and it's ready for matches, it goes into 100 round Berry ammo holders color coded by caliber.
  9. It wasn't required. It was requested, but as is typically the case, 90% of the shooters standing around jumped in and got it done. A squad of 10-13 can tear a stage down pretty quick. I don't have a problem with doing that before the prize table - it seems fair enough to me to hange around a little while on a Sunday afternoon for a shot at winning a prize at a random draw prize table. If you don't care about prizes, there's no penalty at all for shooting your last stage and going home. BB
  10. Don't sweat stage 3. Anyone who's set up very many stages at all knows sometimes it takes a few squads of shooters to find your refs, shoot throughs, or broken activators. But given that stage 3 was my best stage of the day, and I found 2 no-shoots on stage 1, I sure wish I could pick the stage to throw out! Seriously, the stages were a great mix of challenges, the staff was top notch, and the Sat night crawfish, music, and beer are the standards every sectional should strive to meet. Great job! It's also nice to shoot a match where kilts are so common, they go unnoticed. Is it too early to submit my app for the 2014 classic? BB
  11. I haggle for a living (cotton broker). A potential buyer can ask me anything they want - if they're still talking to me, there's a chance I'll make a sale. Same goes for sellers who want to know how much I'll pay. The answer in both cases is "right now I'm at X. What's your offer?"
  12. Are you joining the ranks of kilted shooters? Barry, Are you shooting kilted? John wanted to know why I didn't shoot in a kilt. Ah, to be young and foolish again! (and 100lbs lighter) I'm shooting for team MacBean this weekend! BB
  13. Keep in mind any SS/Prod/Rev rig you own is legal in Open, Lim, and Lim10. A revolver can also go to production. No need for 6 rigs.
  14. Are you joining the ranks of kilted shooters? Nope. Now I'm a little nervous about that pantsless stage!
  15. I sell high end tactical primer tube holders. For only $49.99, I can ship the basic small primer model (on left), or for $69.99 (all prices plus shipping) I offer the high capacity assault primer tube holders, shown here in large primer. On the right, you'll see one of our custom supergrade "Bean's Bullet Buckets". With the high demand of recent months, these are currently out of stock, but we are taking backorders, with an estimated 6 month delivery frame. BB
  16. All the cool kids are classified in every division. The REALLY cool kids have solid classifications in all 6 divisions! BB
  17. I like it. May steal it for our May or June match. Good work, as always. BB
  18. Need some recommendations on somewhere to eat dinner Friday night.
  19. Thanks for the suggestions and offers of help. A new FP spring, a thorough cleaning, and some nail polish should do the trick til I can fit a new FPS. Think I probably need to retension my extractor, but I'm not doing that without a chance to put a few hundred rounds through it before the match. Besides, it's a backup gun for now. BB
