  1. You might want to check out http://www.stlouisshooters.com/forum/portal.php for local match schedules and other local info.
  2. I've had two smiths I trust tell me STI steel is much harder than Caspian steel, and more likely to crack during fitting. If I'm picking a slide, I'll pick a Caspian, but STIs obviously hold up to tens or hundreds of thousands of rounds of use, so I wouldn't be afraid of an STI if that was what was available.
  3. Kilt! Unless it's cold, I'd much rather have bare legs in the rain. My skin's like gore-tex - waterproof, breathes, dries quick. BB
  4. By "enclosed storage"'. I meant a lockable closet. Primarily interested in whether temp and humidity will pose a problem over time.
  5. Other than the cast, the characters, the writing, the plot, the pacing, and the camera work, I can find nothing to like about the show.
  6. Our new office has some enclosed storage that is inside and semi-insulated, but not heated or cooled. Temps could vary between 30 and 90, and humidity should be comparable to being outside (local average around 60-70%). Any reason not to store primers there?
  7. That's awesome. I done some research on your pistol club. Looks fun. Would like to eventually like to check it out. What gear do you recommend. I have a Glock 17. How many mags do you recommend having. And what holsters should I invest in.And what class should I start out in. Thanks Brian We regularly have stages that require 32 rounds (assuming you go one for one on steel). If you shoot production, I'd recommend a minimum of 5 mags (one in the gun and 4 on the belt). If you want to shoot limited minor, you could get by with three mags, but more mags are better. BB
  8. Not in my experience. Pulling over immediately, being polite, and not bullshitting the cop have worked out in my favor about half the time..... My father taught me early on: "yes sir, no sir, I'm sorry sir, thank you sir" should make up your entire vocabulary on the side of the road. Decades of ticket free driving have been the result. Obeying the law helps a lot, too.
  9. I'm sure it's shooters choice! Lol
  10. FWIW, if you're a B class shooter, find me the night before you shoot and the whisky's on me!
  11. Looks like one of those deadly assault mugs.
  12. We shoot a very occasional 3 gun match in Dexter, but we're primarily a pistol club.
  13. I see it as a distraction point for devices that are used for scoring. You only need to see if score is complete or not. On all other devices, they can simply directly check the scores for given stage. I like being able to tell a shooter "you had a XX hit factor on that stage." I REALLY like knowing I had a XX hit factor on the stage. No reason to have to wait till devices are synced or scores posted to know how you did when the answer is right there. This is especially true on the classifier. There are always people looking up CMCalc or Classifiercalc.com to see how they did on the classifier right after they shot it.
  14. +1. Plus, if you have DTs or other targets with NPMs, you might not be scoring targets in numerical order.
  15. Actually it is not, it's optimized for touch screen. If you have a computer without on just use your mouse... simple as that. If I'm sitting in a stationary position with a large monitor and a keyboard, I'd rather deal with drop down/pop up menus and mouse buttons, not sliding screens. I love sliding screens on my iPad, and as soon as a comparable Windows tablet will run Office and my cotton industry apps on a tablet, I'll switch my tabled to Win 8. But that's not how I want to work at a desk.
  16. It's also the number competitive shooters are most interest in. I really don't care if I ran the stage as fast or got as many As as the guy I'm trying to beat. I want to know if I beat him!
  17. This is frustrating. I have 3 computers I'd like to upgrade this year, but Windows 8 looks to me to be way too touch screen/tablet oriented for a desktop or laptop. I'll hold off 6 months or a year to see what version 8.? looks like before I upgrade (and no, Mac is not an upgrade for a Windows user).
  18. +1! The only mistakes we've seen with Practiscore have been when the person with the device left off a target or the time. FWIW, this same error happens with paper as well, but a reminder from Practiscore might make fixing it easier than a reshoot. Great ap! BB
  19. As good a showman as he was a shooter. He was one of the first "celebrities" I watched when I got interested in competitive shooting.
  20. I'm partial to the Best Western in Hannibal. Nice rooms, indoor pool and hot tub. Several good restaurants within walking distance, and 20 minutes from the range. Best of all is that it's in a gun friendly state.
