  1. I notice the website says to send apps in the same envelope to be squadded together. Is the match not using self service squadding this year?
  2. The entry Forms show an option to shoot Single Stack on Saturday. Is this correct? BB
  3. If you're going to shoot SS minor, by all means get the 10 round mags. That extra round won't be necessary often, but when you hit a 6 and 4 array, stubborn steel, or need makeup shots on distant targets you'll be happy to have the extra round! BB
  4. On Android, it shows division for all shooters in the name field, so there's no way to distinguish re-entries. (Showing division for all is a good thing - for re-entries I'd suggest a simple "RE" flag) This has caused scoring mistakes every month at my club... We avoid this problem by putting re-shoots in a new squad. i.e. 1st gun is squad 1, reshoot or 2nd gun is squad 91. BB
  5. Is it possible to integrate a classifier lookup, or at least pass data to a link to CM Calc or Classifiercalc? We always have several shooters furiously calculating hit factors and looking up percentages at the classifier stage It'd be nice to tell them "your hit factor was 7.89 - that should be a 78%". BB
  6. Not if you use their alumagrips or G10 grips. They're already slotted. But lots of folks have re-worked other grips to work. Just takes a steady hand and willingness to take a router to your favorite grips.
  7. I have both, and both do a great job of saving a botched reload. Both do a great job of givin your weak hand something to index on at the bottom of the grip. Both of them give you that all important High Speed Low Drag look that drives the chicks wild. The primary difference I see is that the Dawson is a little lighter, and lets you use whatever grips you want. My guns make weight, and I prefer the alumagrips, so that's not an issue for me. On the other hand, the Dawson inserts get brittle after a while, and can be a hassle to get on and off. You need to buy a couple of extras for your bag. As for basepads, the Techwell give you a couple of options. The Techwell SP works with any standard basepad and still gives 90% of the benefits of the full size Techwell or Dawson. The TGO makes more room for big hands. The Carry model works if your game gun rides on your hip the rest of the week. At any rate - you won't regret either choice. Assuming you have multiple 1911s (who could just have one?), get one of each and see what works for you! BB
  8. Across the country, losing and term limited candidates have huge stacks of 4X8 plastic campaign signs they need to do something with. These signs make great barricades, walls, and building materials for props at the range. They're light, weatherproof, and easy to work with. Contact the campaigns or offices of most losing/term limited candidates, and they'll be happy to let you take al the signs you want for free, especially if you'll go get them from the side of the road. BB
  9. I think I've seen this movie before. I keep a year or so's worth of components on hand because they're cheaper to buy in bulk. If things get scarce when that runs low, I'll dryfire more. I wish I could dryfire matches, because I'm a lot faster and more accurate that way! BB
  10. After standby and the start signal, when else? BB
  11. That was no luck, Jim - you did a fine job on the PPR! Thanks to Sam and the whole Mid-South crew for putting on a fine match. You've inspired me to actually practice with my revolver in 2013 and come back! BB
  12. The CMC extended basepads are long enough to seat with the Dawson magwell, but don't typically have to be sanded down t fit the box like the Wilson basepads do. CMC basepads wil fit both CMC and Wilson 47 (not the 500) mags. BB
  13. Note the date on the original post. FWIW, I ended up moving to a Montana Gold 200 gr JFP at 1.22 with 4.8 grains of Clays. Ran like a champ all last year, chronos between 171 and 178 at majors (typically 172-174), and is as accurate as I am. I've got a big pile of Bootheel lead and Precision moly I'm going to work through this winter, but I've settled on a 200 grain load, whatever the bullet. I decided I liked the snappier recoil of the 200 better than the gentle push of the 230, but as long as I run 500 rounds or so of the same load through the gun, I'm good either way. BB
  14. Reading these comments sure does make me appreciate the shooters at our club. While we do have a few folks who like to talk more than they like to setup/paste/paint/tear down/etc., the vast majority of our shooters show up early, help set up, paste and reset, and stick around most matches to help tear down. BB
  15. If your gun weighs 1.5 oz, you've probably done something that makes it illegal for USPSA. Recoil must be hell!
  16. Research shows they do. That's why candidates spend so much to put them on the air. BB
  17. LOL! Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I keep an extra powder bar on the bench so I can tighten/loosen it and remind myself which way the bolt needs to turn! BB
  18. I count 252 rounds required, but just to be on the safe side, I'm going to load an extra moonclip and bring 258 rounds.
  19. Not nearly as many as I'd like, but far more than my wife thinks I should.
  20. the targets are not visible before activation, they are hidden behind no shoots. lynn Darn. Yet another easy shot made complicated!
  21. Not with those penalties. Classifiers must be run strictly according to the WSB, or they're not classifiers.
  22. Is the spinner on stage 7 available prior to activation?
  23. In case anyone's interested, I have 2 boxes (2000 primers) of Federal large pistol primers I'd gladly trade for 2 boxes of Federal small pistol primers or 2500 Winchester large pistol primers. BB
