  1. Thanks to everyone who made this match possible. It remains one of my favorite matches of the year. Challenging stages with a good mix of straight ahead shooting and strategy, solid ROs, great club, and beautiful weather. Sign me up for next year!
  2. The primary selling point for a better gun (or horn, or bike, or anything else) is that it will be more enjoyable to use, and you are more likely to practice with it. If it's also more reliable and accurate, then so much the better. But a better gun in and of itself isn't going to improve your scores very much.
  3. What the hell kind of 1911s are y'all talking about? I never heard of any of these 1911s.
  4. He lives up to the hype.
  5. You're both right. I do't see any way to interpret ULASC without SHOWING clear. Otherwise, the command would simply be "unload and holster" and we'd let them leave the stage! On the other hand, the next command starts with "If Clear,..." so the onus is on the shooter if for some reason he wasn't clear. When I'm ROing I always want to SEE clear. When I'm shooting, I always SHOW clear. Belt and suspenders is the reason our sport is as safe as it is.
  6. One more word of advise - it's hard to be humble when you live with a JRT, but try - you do't want to hurt the other guys' feelings...
  7. You can always cut a few inches off and melt the end with a lighter. I'm wearing size 33 pants and using the same CR Speed belts I wore when I wore a size 48 pant. Every couple of months, I just trim off another inch or two. BB
  8. Don't believe everything people tell you. Our JRT lives with three cats. They don't curl up together, but they do play chase, and pull their punches when they do squabble. My two kids fought worse than the dog and cat do.
  9. Absolutely! When we're in town and I walk Lydia, I'm the most popular guy in town. It's either that, or chicks dig CROs. I'm not sure which.
  10. Our 14 yr old Jack Russel Terrorist is as smart and loyal a dog as I've ever had. Was a piece of cake to train, and only took 10 years to calm down to normal puppy level. Plan to spend a lot of time with your JRT, and keep a couple of toys handy at all times. They're easy to travel with (pocket size!), and are rarely destructive unless left alone too long and too often. Very social. Welcome to the club!
  11. I'm a devoted fan of Techwear, but they'll all make a fairly plain shirt if you don't want to look like a Nascar racer. Techwear will sell you a simply solid T-shirt made out of their wicking fabric, and I'm pretty sure their competition will as well.
  12. I farm and trade commodities. Predicting the rain to within an hour or so is essential to our operation. We're big fans of Weather Underground (see the link above), and they do give an hourly forecast. On my phone, I use their weather app, but also use the my-cast app. Both give hourly forecasts several days in advance. Just be aware that any 12-24 hour forecast is going to be more accurate than any 48+ hour forecast. If the forecast looks good for the match tomorrow, you're in good shape. If it looks good for the match in a few days, you may or may not be in good shape.
  13. I upgraded from a 550 to a 650 and haven't looked back. Being able to knock out 800+ rounds in a hour means less time reloading and more time shooting. The 550 is a great machine, but the 650 is a greater machine.
  14. I'd absolutely donate, and suspect any md or stats person who used to lose a few hours every match dealing with paper score sheets would be happy to, too.
  15. If you kep a year's worth on hand, you'll have plenty of time to find more before you run out, or make whatever adjustments you have to make in a worst case scenario (i.e. zombie apocalypse, 3rd term, etc).
  16. There's a reason a lot of us have kept a 1-2 year supply on hand for the past several years.
  17. Don't be ridiculous. It NEVER rains at PASA (unless, of course, I'm shooting there).
  18. Recently, I've noticed a green Live Support Chat widget popping up whenever I go to USPSA.org. Is USPSA actually offering live chats these days, or have I picked up a bug somewhere along the way? BB
  19. FWIW, I offered to buy kilts for the rest of the team, but they turned me down for some reason. BB
