  1. Congratulations! Unfortunately, my wife passed away last year about 2 1/2 weeks before our 46th. I still consider her my wife (screw the til death do you part stuff), so this year will be our 47th.
  2. I used to fly a lot for work. During the pre-flight instructions from a flight attendant, when she reached the part of the speech about traveling with small children, she said: "For those of you traveling with small children, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!". When the laughter died down, she got back into her routine.
  3. Even the article linked above says no form needed for suppressors. I agree, but TSA is TSA. Which is to say uneducated about a lot of stuff. May be he could tell them it's musical instrument.
  4. When you finally make up your mind to quit, you'll succeed. It has to come from within. Been there, done that, with both smoking and alcohol.
  5. Good luck checking with ATF and their user unfriendly website. This however should help, and it also has a link to the needed form: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/08/foghorn/ask-foghorn-legal-considerations-for-traveling-with-a-silencer/ EDIT: Well crap, their link for the form doesn't work. Sorry about that! DBL EDIT: Here's one that should work: https://www.pdffiller.com/1516-atf-f-5320-20-Form-532020---Bureau-of-Alcohol-Tobacco-Firearms-and-Explosives-ATF-Bureau-of-Alcohol-Tobacco-Firearms-and-Explosives-Forms-and-Applications--atf?gclid=CLyiwa_NhswCFQcKaQod7BgATA From what I've read online (yeah, I know) ATF will accept this form for suppressors even though it specifies firearms.
  6. So good they can't tell me why .308 is the only caliber out of a half dozen I reload where the power continues to spill all over my shellplate of my 650!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure you post this in as many places on the forum you can find. We all like reading the same thing again and again. Now, if you'd like some help instead, you might want to supply us with details like type of powder. Pictures would be nice too.
  7. "Anyone got an aspirin?" Sorry, I'm in a dark humor today!
  8. Never heard of that before! Dad used to make 308's out of 30-06 long before 308 caught on, but they were always kept separate in boxes marked 308. But .380 is so prevalent, why would any one bother?
  9. Well, he did stipulate in public while sober, so that narrows it down a bit. Still, there have been so many and I've been trying so hard to forget them that none seem to spring to mind.
  10. I have a love-hate relationship with the Dillon lube. It works, but requires cleaning after loading. My ritual of lubing is to put a bunch of cases in a cut down box, make sure they are all lying on their side and spray them with the lube. This method results in some cases getting lube inside the case mouth which helps in the powder drop/belling stage.
  11. Wait until you get to be my age - I can (and do) lose things in a matter of minutes. At least you can recoup some of your money by selling the extra set.
  12. What lube are you using? They're not all the same.
  13. Instructions are correct, that groove goes up. The other end of the funnel is machined to bell the case mouth. Goes in just like this:
  14. Are you advocating illegal practices?
  15. Good idea, one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" things.
  16. Link didn't work. Is this what you were trying for: http://www.thec4m3ron.com/mainstore
  17. I bought the Harbor Freight model. The best things I can say about it is it was cheap and it does work. Beyond that, it's extremely cheaply made and as mentioned, it has no fan. The worst part is there are fairly large holes in the center of each layer that brass will drop through as you put the brass on the layer or add a layer, and the brass ends up in the bottom with the heating element. Some day, I'll fix that by gluing some plastic around each hole to make a ledge, but with summer approaching, I'll probably go with the solar method.
  18. I would consider buying a piece of 1" plywood and bolting the stand to it. Make it large enough so you are standing on it to add your weight when using the press. You can also store your extra bullets on it under the stand for additional weight. It f your floor is wood or tile, put a thin piece of rubber under the plywood to prevent rubbing/marking the floor and also to prevent everything from moving.
  19. Great find, but please - the electrician in me is screaming - put it in a box so those wires aren't exposed!
  20. Even if they completely ignore you, the important thing is your sight wasn't permanently damaged. Anything beyond that is icing on the cake. Just remember to use those new Rudy's! Winchester (IMHO) is a stand up company and will make things right. Like any other company in this age of litigation, they'll do it as a gesture of good will without admitting any responsibility, which is OK.
  21. I'm in the process of trying out two different brands. One has 16 channels that can be adjusted while the other less expensive one only has 8. So far, I like the less expensive one, and it's not due to cost, as they won't cost me anything. I find the cheaper pair stay in my ear canal better, despite trying different buds for the other set, but they are slightly more difficult to put in, which means it takes me 10 seconds instead of 8. The other thing I noticed about the higher priced set was I couldn't stand to drive with the truck window down because they made the wind noise sound like a hurricane. The cheaper ones don't do that. Perhaps the expensive ones can be tuned not to do that. Last, my daughter says she has noticed I hear her better with the cheap set. That's good and bad. Battery life is the same for both - between 5 and 6 days. My biggest obstacle is getting used to walking around with something stuck in my ears all the time. Using them while shooting isn't a problem with either passive or electronic muffs. And yes, they do make a difference. I never noticed the tinkling sound of our dog's licenses before, and I can now hear the low tire pressure signal on my truck. I do not experience crowd noise difficulty with either set and in fact, they actually help me hear the people I'm with better.
  22. With any progressive press, a stable mounting is one of the keys to limiting problems. It's one of those "Can I" questions with the answer "Yes, but...". If you have to go with a stand like that, I would highly recommend anchoring it solidly to the floor.
