  1. Good question, cause that’s not changing for me
  2. Thanks. Chris is going to use a mount for his dot, it is installed, but no other cuts made yet. He’s taking his time deciding exactly how he wants it to look. You have to look pretty closely to realize they’re 6” guns. His has a steel grip, so it will have a bit more stationary weight. I’ve never seen another one on the range built like these. If you see us on a range(we work/shoot quite a few matches), anyone’s welcome to put some rounds through it
  3. Top shooters shoot what they’re highest paying sponsor wants them to shoot, generally. Now, what they shot to GET to that level, when they were paying for their guns, is another story
  4. My reason for building the first Open gun built this way is that it was built for my #3 son, who was 10 at the time and small for his age. The guns are 6” barrel/6” slide guns. They are about 1” shorter than a 5” standard barreled gun & comp. slightly less total weight too. He shot it very well at 3 Masters, 1 Bianchi & numerous State and Area matches before losing interest. It sat for a couple years until #1 son, rustedfrog, started shooting with me(I had built an XDm open gun for me). Very Nearly everyone who has actually shot the gun has really liked it. I love the way it shoots & handles. Here is the original. I did all the machine work. Will wanted a Red White Blue gun, lol
  5. Burris is making some great offerings in FFP long range scopes, and all mine have been very dependable, bright & clear
  6. I have Hiperfires in my rifles and love them. Not sure what I’ll go with in my PCC. Not sure I’d be happy with anything over 2#, as my pistols are that or below. The 24c/competition might be overkill, but will probably stick with Hyperfire. I do have a new Jard 1.5# that might work well, sadly they don’t offer that any longer
  7. After The Masters(another great shooting venue that was killed in its prime), the BC was always a favorite of mine. One of my sons shot it at 10 & 12 years old, and really enjoyed it. His picture on the line at the Plate Event was on the BC webpage & video for a time. We started to return in ‘16, but the writing was already on the wall by then. If it returns to its former glory, we might also. But I think lots of people will be reluctant to return, also the same as The Masters. It struggled for years with only Doug K returning every year as far as big names go, the rest of us vying for second or.....
  8. I bought a PSA on here and am not sure which it is. I think it’s the forged, but would like to see if you agree. Looking at the Titan Rocket mag well
  9. Yeah, the Sierra 90’s are my choice too. But just getting that round going, seems a decent way to get started. Just wondered if it was accurate. That ammo cost me $98/200 delivered/loaded. I can use it to get started & reload the brass with the 90’s
  10. Seems I remember a test someone did where they cut the barrel back by 1/2” at a time. I believe each inch generally accounted for 50fps muzzle velocity but my memory isn’t what it was?
  11. Anyone shot any of the Federal 75gr ammo yet? Accuracy? Distance? Almost as cheap to buy that & reload it than start with new brass
  12. I did that with 30/30 to 7-30 Waters, but I’m thinking going from .277 to .224 would require more than one step. But haven’t found anyone offering forming dies The Valkyrie brass is cheap enough that I’ll probably end up just buying new
  13. Do you know if this is only for active duty? Civilians?
  14. Low recoil, less drop @ 1000 yards(44”), supersonic past 1000 yards. Brass is .30c each. Many reasons I’m choosing.224V over Grendel or Lapua
  15. Over crimping is often the ruiner of accuracy, cannelured or not
  16. I did well with 55gr out to 600 yards, but with a 1-8 barrel
  17. The parent case for .224 Valkyrie is 6.8 SPC. But I cannot find any information on anyone selling forming dies. The brass is very reasonable compared to some other long range cartridges, but I have a bunch of 6.8 brass anyway, so.... Anyone else done this or have better info?
  18. Can anyone point me to magazine dimensions along the lines of what’s available for STI/SVI ? Search found nothing. Thanks
  19. Can someone explain to me why they use a plastic attachment screw, grip to frame, instead of the stainless screws that the original plastic group uses? Just bought a CK from another member
  20. At the optics nationals last year we saw a lot of people having trouble with the DPP. Julie Golob was in our squad her another master shooter and they had problems the entire match. My original DP has never blinked. I use Burris FF3’s now, since the original DP is not available any longer
  21. It was bent worse than the picture, had to straighten it a bit to get it out
  22. I’m away from home until August. I could use a drill bit to get size then. The firing pin was taken out just before the match he shot major in. 10 stages and the gun ran fine all the way through. Going to try to get a pic of the pin
