  1. We made the slide racker & did the machine work. Still need to do a shallow version of the through front cuts
  2. What he said. I use picked up range brass, reuse Major loaded brass until it splits. Why wouldn’t you? Never, ever had an issue in 20+ years shooting USPSA
  3. Love Silhouette for major 9-115’s
  4. That was my position until I tried SNS 115’s. Every bit as accurate out of my 2 open guns
  5. I woukd go a long way to get it. It just has to be when I’m home
  6. Alabama Section in Dothan & PTAC & Jabs knockdown steel challenge in Talledega both in March. The steel match, if you haven’t shot one, is be far the most fun kind of shooting
  7. Often times it is not that clear cut. Sometimes I simply can’t get into a position to be able to sure if a shooters finger is in the trigger or not. Big, wide guys especially are hard to see aroond without getting into their way. I have never yelled “finger”, but I have heard others do so. I did council a shooter this past weekend at the FL State match after clearing him at the end of his run. I couldn’t see that it was in, and couldn’t see that it was clearly out, so he got the benefit of my doubt
  8. It was pointed out by the RM at FL State USPSA match today, Even having tables at side berms is not advisable because they are not covered mentioned in the rules and people tend to treat tables as safe areas when they are near berms
  9. Spill stop on my 1050 helped, but not a lot. Especially when loading Silhouette at major. Have to go very slow at the top of the upstroke
  10. Yeah, I have seen people lean out with 1 foot in the shooting area and one on a wall foot like that. But I have never seen anyone stand completely on a brace like that without one foot establishing position inside
  11. Well, I studied the video several times. And while he did not do anything specifically against the rules, at that time, he left the shooting area and did not return to it. If he left the Shooting area and did not return, At that point he remains outside the shooting area. If you shoot targets when you are outside the shooting area, that is a procedural for each shot fired. Had he put 1 foot inside the shooting area, he would have then returned to the shooting area and then I would say no penalty
  12. There's no need to use every inch of the 180 on the majority of stages. You’ve obviously never shot at CASA in Arkansas!
  13. 5.2.1.7 is more clear, as it states “muzzle pointed directly into or within 2 yards of a side berm or backstop” No, not saying you would DQ in the situations you stated. My query had to do with the RM(Troy) telling us that if a shooter carries the PCC muzzle down they could cart/case/uncart/uncase nearly anywhere without fear of sweeping anyone and thus getting a DQ. But the initial rule, 8.3.7.3 says it must be pointed at a side berm or backstop. The second rule I referenced 5.2.1.7 adds “within 2 yards of a side berm or backstop”, so it clears up my question. Trying to explain it simpler, if you had your PCC muzzle down as you left the line, the only way to “point at a side berm or backstop” when casing would be to turn the gun horizontally when there would be no reason to do so. Muzzle down I do not need to point to a berm or backstop to case, but 5.2.1.7 says I must do so within 2 yards of one. Glad they added that
  14. As another note, on several occasions I’ve heard RO’s yell “finger!” During a COF when it was unclear if the shooters finger was not clearly out.
  15. On your comment, I agree, if it is that clear. They aren’t always, and I will give the doubt to the shooter. Thanks
  16. So, you are ROing, and either running the shooter, are the backup RO, or positioned to watch a certain 180 close situation. You see a near/possible infraction, ie; maybe you didn’t see the finger clearly/completely out of the trigger guard during movement or reload, maybe the shooter was so close to a 180 break that you would have been completely comfortable calling it(IMO if you don’t have some equivocation at times you either DQ a lot of people or you’re Missing some stuff) In my nearly 30 years competing in various shooting sports, I have been both counciled and have counciled shooters after the COF as a heads up to a near/possible problem. I have always listened and thanked the RO’s who have done it for me. And for the most part, shooters have been receptive to it from me. The only glaring exception to that was at Optics Nats and involved a team/sponsored shooter & a 180 situation during “make ready”. I was the 180 RO and approached him away from everyone and quietly told him of my concern. He vehemently denied taking the action I described, saying “I never did that”. I assured him he did, twice. After that I went to the RO running him to confirm and he thanked me & said he had very nearly called the DQ. This led to a discussion among all 6 of the RO’s on the stage with the younger/newer guys generally taking the “DQ or shut up” position, and the older RO’s saying “I’ve done it at times”. If I knew how, I’d turn this into a poll with 2 questions. 1. Do you want this council? 2. Good or bad idea to give it?
  17. During the RO briefing at 2 matches I worked last couple years, Optics Nats & FL Open, muzzle up/muzzle down carry of PCC’s was addressed both times. Troy said that while either option was allowed under the rules, he highly recommended muzzle down carry. At Optics he said that the BOD had discussed making muzzle down the requirement, but discussed was all. Smitty also said USA was considering making it a range rule. The case for muzzle down was that you could take that gun anywhere on the range & drop it into a bag or cart, muzzle down, and never have to sweep anyone. And no RO supervision necessary. Muzzle up that is not the case. Also muzzle up in a cart, cart falls over, your gun just swept multiple people. He encouraged us to pass that along to shooters(very contentious arguments insued because most thought we were saying they HAD to carry muzzle down. Sheesh!) 8.3.7.3 says “when casing PCC’s the muzzle must point at a side berm or backstop. Failure to point the muzzle at a side berm or backstop during casing will result in a DQ per 10.5.19” To my question. If you carry muzzle down you will not sweep anyone putting your PCC away, and in order to point the muzzle “at a side berm or backstop” you’d have to change its attitude to horizontal. Rules are rules, so I’d like a clarification for myself as a shooter & an RO
  18. From what I’ve seen, this is pretty true. I have 2 PCC’s, but haven’t shot them in a match as yet. I don’t hate PCC though. What’s not to like? You get to shoot a rifle in a pistol competition, with only safety rules to worry about. Wannna use a laser, sure! Wanna have a bazillion rounds without reloading? Perfect! Can’t wait to go from one group to the other
  19. I Shoot 115’s for two reasons. The first is they are the most accurate out of my guns. The second is I’m notoriously cheap and I get more bullets for my money
  20. I leave April 3, and get I leave April 3, and get home May the 1st or I would be there
  21. Yes I’m pretty sure they are too unfortunately I am gone for weeks at a time at work and that happens to be while I’m gone
