  1. My son shot two matches in June with one of our open guns(STI, 6” with Scheumann Tribrid barrel) One minor, one major. No issues. Then upon disassembly, it was discovered that the firing pin was not only bent, but shoved into the firing pin hole so much it was a bear getting out. My buddy is takingbthe gun as backup to the Sportsman Team Challenge & was just checking things out. He was pretty sure had he slammed the slide on a round it would have gone off. Nothing was done to the gun after we shot the Arkansas sectional. I have absolutely no idea how this could’ve ended up this way after successfully shooting match Anyone else have any ideas?
  2. I’m thinking it might fit the XDm, different lights/lasers usually fit rails universally, so this should
  3. My Scheumann barrel has 3 poppel & 3 port comp in a 6” barrel. My load is 115 MG or SNS bullet @ 1.156 with 8.3gr Silhouette, winchester SR primer. I use gold small rifle primers for major, silver small pistol for minor. That way if I find a loose round on the bench or in my bag I know what it is

    9mm Minor

I called Ramshot last week. I called to ask about Competition. The tech guy said he would not recommend Competition or Zip either for minor 9. He suggested Accurate #5. I used to shoot that, don’ Remember why I stopped, lol

    9mm Minor

How does the American Select do? Is it clean?

    9mm Minor

When I tried Silhouette for minor the velocities were literally all over the place. Some were scary

    9mm Minor

I was worried Competition would be too fast. Shoot a ton of Titegroup, but my XDm’s have to be cleaned during a match or they get unreliable. Looking for a cleaner powder to replace TTG with
  8. I personally cannot distinguish a difference in loads of the same PF. That’s one reason I shoot 115gr in 9 minor. That and the fact that I’m cheap and I get more “bangs” for my buck. I am looking for a cleaner powder than Titegroup though. Love the way it loads & shoots, but during a match I need to clean the guys at about 250 rounds or it’s not reliable. Suggestions?
  9. Thanks. Checked them both. The Springer says it works with my funnel, so there I go. Thanks
  10. Minor is 4.3gr Titegroup with 115 SNS or MG Major is 8gr Silhouette with 115 SNS or MG 1.156 OAL either way. My conventional open gun was .2 less at 7.8gr Silhouette, so I lost just a bit with the popel holes
  11. The Tribrid comp is very effective. And for whatever reason, this is the loudest gun I’ve ever shot on competition. Everyone who has tried it has been surprised at how well it works. It is extremely accurate as well. The second gun we’re building will have the sight mounted off the slide, although I don’t have a problem with this configuration. And the sight is an excellent slide racker. BTW, we originally built this gun for my then 10 year old son, who was small for his age. He only shot minor in it, but it was very controllable through 2 Bianchi Cups, 3 Masters Championships & many USPSA matches. As to why few competitors use this setup, who knows. I run into people all the time who haven’t seen one before. And honestly, people emulate the top guns. For good or bad, those shooters use what their sponsors build/supply. (Not saying those guns don’t work, so no hating on me people.)They obviously work, and work well. I have quite a few matches this year, shooting and working, so if you ever see my Red, White & Blue gun, hit me up & you can gladly shoot it
  12. My open gun is technically not a shorty, being a 6” barrel/slide. However, by using the Scheumann Tribrid barrel, you end up with a functional comp gun that is significantly shorter than a full length gun/comp. Swings like a shorty, but has the barrel length/forward weight of a full length. I like is so much I’m building another as backup. This time using a wide/long frame to get a touch more weight up front
  13. Been shooting an XDm in several divisions. By switching top/bottom ends between 2 guns I can shoot the same grip, holster, pouches in 5 divisions. But that still limits me to 22 rounds in open. Does anyone make a 170mm mag for the XDm? I haven’t been able to find one myself if so
  14. How do you find/know the compressed length?
  15. Black & Silver guns are so yesterday! When we built this gun it was for my 10 y.o. Son. He wanted a red, white & blue gun, so this is what we decided on. Sadly he doesn't shoot any more, on to other things. After 2 Bianchi's, 4 Masters & several area matches, I had hopes he would stay in it.
  16. As an RO at the Optics Nats, I saw several shooters having this same issue. Julie Golob shot with our RO squad & had it happen. Seemed to only be the Pro model.
  17. Another along the lines my current open gun. 6" barrel/slide, wide long frame, Scheumann tribrid barrel with 3 poppel holes & 3 port comp. swings amazingly fast, heavy enough in the front but not as long as a regular comp gun and amazingly accurate. Leupold Deltapoint at the rear so no smoke on the lens and makes a good slide racker. *thumb rest [generic]* to go fast
  18. Just checking to see if this topic already has a thread, if so I can't find it. Thinking of going, but it's a 12 hour drive so I'm not certain. Any idea on the number of amateur competitors? No bring your own guns this year, so that's better I'd say.
  19. Can usually find the older Lee stuff on Ebay. I tried the new Lee parts, but didn't spend a lot of time on it. The new has a double lift incorporated to better avoid a primer chain fire. That's what causes trouble for making the primer filler now
  20. My favorite is the one I made for $10. Works flawlessly. I tried the new Vibra Prime, but mine is faster & easier, AND $10! search the Non Dillon reloading forum for "primer tube filler" and click the one with my username as the author You're welcome
  21. I switched my Dillon 9mm sizing die out for a Lee. Too many cases fail to chamber from the Dillon die. Even after checking them with a Dillon case guage. Zero failures from the Lee die. And if you ever compare the Lee opening to the Dillon you'll see why. The Dillon has a HUGE opening at the bottom, the Lee is way way tighter. Gets bulged brass resized down much further. And yes, the Dillon was set properly. You will occasionally have a piece of brass not line up completely with the sizing die opening, but rather that stoppage come at the reloading bench than at a Nationals stage?
  22. The RL is just a stronger machine. The Super uses an aluminum main beam, and there have been a few bent with overzealous stroking! Lol
  23. It did not have the caliber conversion(good buddy hooked me up though), I had to buy a case feed plate, small primer seater stem, swage rod & feed tube. I'll have about $1200 in it. It's been sitting for about 15 years, but no rust or stuck parts at all. Was well oiled & greased when last used, very smooth?
  24. Mike, is your RO staff set? I would like to work the match if not. Fresh off the Optics Nats. Thanks, Greg
