Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hello all, I introduced myself on here a while ago, and have been reading some. I am stationed down at Fort Hood, Tx, and really want to get into competitive shooting. I currently only have a few wheel guns, a Smith and Wesson 39 and a sti spartan .45, i don't know if i will need to get a new gun or what all i will need. I know a basic holster, some mags, mag holders, and a belt. I am wondering if it would be beneficial for me to purchase a Glock or a Smith and Wesson m and p, or any number of other guns, or just stick with the sti. I am also looking for some places to start out at. If someone could possibly get me pointed in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks much, Andrew
  2. Well, I was left a few guns when my father died when I was a kid, but I would say that my first gun was a Marlin m25 Glenfield i shelled out 20 bucks for at a garage sale. It was in pretty nasty shape. It had a broken ejector, no magazine, some rusting all over, stock missing all of the finish and dinged up pretty bad. But luckily i had a pretty darn awesome Godfather that helped me buy parts and refinish it! He would show me what to do and look over my shoulder as I did it myself. I Still have it and i still have a blast shooting it. Sure might not be pretty, but i don't think i could ever bring myself to get rid of it.
  3. Hey there everybody! Sorry for it being so long since i have been on, i introduced myself a few months back, well probably almost a year now. But anyways, work started getting busy and it seemed i had less and less time to get on the internet, but i am back and trying to be more active on here and shooting too. Well... have a great day. Catch ya later! Oh and sorry if this is in the wrong place, i wasn't quite sure where to put it, cause its not really a introduction i guess, so hopefully it is in the right place. Thanks, Andrew
  4. Thank Yall for all the advice and kind words!!! -Andrew
  5. Hello, i am pretty new to the site, i recently joined in order to read more about competition shooting, learn some of the basics. Well everyone said this site was full of great people and i was welcomed with open arms. well while i was in travel from iraq to my home for christmas for my r and r i received a message from Brian saying that someone had purchased a $150 gift certificate and had anonymously given it to me, i was astounded!!!! i just wanted to send out a thanks to whoever did that, and let them know how much i appreciated it!!! i wasn't exactly sure where to post this, so if it is in the wrong place, let me know and i will move this, but whoever did that for me, i just would like to say thank you very much!!!! Thanks, Andrew
  6. I would love for them to do some uspsa or some kind of competition shooting, especially in DWO, but im not seeing that happen any time soon . I wouldnt mind another addiction . I will deffinatly check out the pistol club, thanks.
  7. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Yes, i am stationed out of FT. Hood, and i was looking to possibly get into uspsa/ipsc. so i have heard from many people, and i look forward to giving it a try! Anyways, i am terrible at bowling
  8. Hello, I have been interested in getting back into some shooting sports, a few years ago I messed around with bowling pins a little bit, and had a good time, just was too busy. not that life has slowed down any, but anyways, been looking around on here for a little while and decided i might as well say hi.
